Hi, by request of Mo, here are some pics that I had taken of the ex Ramo Stott/ Lem Blankenship Superbird. I saw it and talked to the owner on Sunday, and these photos I took last year. They are a bit sunwashed, and would have been this year too unfortunately, but at least it will serve as some reference regarding an original Nichels chassied aero car. I believe it is the only one left in it's survivor state, others out there seem overrestored. Hope you enjoy or they can be of some use. I have one better picture on a post card which I'll get up later after I scan it, I'm just gettin kinda pooped! r:r ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More in next reply........... |

Stott "Bird" pics continued........![]() ![]() So there you are. I looked it over good enough that I can probably answer questions about the car or explain certain things, where they are, what kit parts seem close to things on it, etc. if you would like any of that information. As always, all you have to do is ask, I'm happy to oblige. Dave B. |

No kidding, huh Kev. This thing was really slammed too, but just high enough to see the major things under it. It's actually lower in back than you'd think. Originally the rear fenderwells weren't cut up so high or flared, but they did this later since it ran on almost all USAC tracks through 72 and that meant shorter superspeedways like Milwaukee, where tire clearance was important when some beatin and bashing went on. r:r Interestingly, I figured all these things had Dana 60's in the rear, this one and apparently most had the regular positraction 8 and 3/4 Mopars. Also the exhausts were clamped on the chassis interestingly, one side of the hangers (C Clamps) was mounted solid, the otherside had a spring and bolt assembly.Your pal Dave Ps, I'm not positive on this, but I'm pretty sure at least, that the weight of the oil in it is SAE 20-50, wouldn't you think? r:r r:r r:r And yes, I did clunk my head on the cross bar of the spoiler at least once. I could smell that one coming from somewhere eventually too.
