How's it comin', GAVIN???????? I was sitting and "thinking" about the problem you are battling with, and the only time I've had that happen "recently", was trying to use some of the "Automotive" Lacquer paint on the model......... I would guess that the paint that was "made to paint on metal" had to have been "different" than the stuff that was "factory made" for the plastic model cars...........

Anyhow...........GOOD LUCK BRO........WANNA SEE SOME "GOOD NEWS PICTURES" on this little car !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starting to see progress again. Stripped the body in Isopropyl Alcohol and the paint just lifted off after a day, gave it a light sand and wash. Primed the body with Mr Surfacer 500 grey and after another day gave it a light sand and wash, painted it the next day with Testors Interior Metallic Blue enamel thinned with general purpose thinners and repainted the parts already painted the same after a light sand. Came out great and the colour is pretty close to that on the original car. It has a more satin finish which is period correct for 1963 and I will not be putting any clear on it.
Masked the roof area off after a few days and primed that, painted the white today and here it is after removing the masking. When it dries properly the edges will be cleaned up and I can get on with the rest.

Life and a couple of other projects got in the way of doing any more to this, and when I did get a chance to do anything I wasn't really in the mood, which probably will show when it is finished. I have 24 hours to get this finished for our model club theme night, not much left to do, but a few little details like the hood straps, and number plate will be missing for a while.
How it sits at present.

It is as finished as it is going to be for now, too late to do any more as our Model Club meeting is in a couple of hours time.
Still have to add a windscreen wiper (when I find one in scale), a number plate, and the strap over the hood.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I will add the detail bits in the New Year, and tweak a couple of fit issues.

Now, believe it or not, the same driver's next car after the 32 was a Ferrari Super Squalo Grand Prix car with the Ferrari body and engine removed and a British Morris Minor body and Corvette engine fitted.
I would love to build a model, but there has never been a 1/25th or 1/24th Morris Minor body made. There is one around 1/22nd scale on a toy that may work.

This was in 1964/1965 when you couldn't give away old Grand Prix cars. The car was eventually restored back to its Grand Prix car state and sold around the million dollar mark.
