Just have to do another local ol' Boy to start the year off. Roger Yates was one of the earliest guys to drive what were called Super Modifieds at Motor City Speedway in the early '50s.

Got to talkin' with a gent that had actually built a couple like this and told me the body was made up from a cut-up '46 Ford Coupe, and how it was pretty much done. Havin' one in the bone yard, I dipped it, took it apart, shot it with some white prime (it was black plastic), then started tolay it out. I think this one will make me, or brake me !!!!!!! :( .?.

Welp, haven't been exactly sleepin' on this one, it's just been like playing with one of those 3-D wooden puzzles !!!! :( Been trying to contact the guy that actually built this one, but everyone figures he's probably in Florida yet ( he's a Snowbird). Anyway, we're movin' forward with our first cut & paste. I think I'm gonna move forward more of a tribute build rather than a clone. Ed, that built this car had rumored to have bought a 55 gal. drum of SEARS & ROBUCK Royal Blue paint and used every last drop of it on all his projects. Being half a bubble off on this one will still keep me happy !!! 12r

Lots of scruffin' & buffin' forthcomin' !!!! .cc.
Sorry I missed your question D.J., but yes we're doin' the "Nailhead". Thats how I ran across the chassis I'm usin'. It's from the old Linberg Vintage Modified kit.

Welp ! After gettin' my last minute SNRA car done, I dusted this one off and put it back on the bench ! Here's where I'm basically headin' ! I'm not builing this one as a replica, but more of a tribute to the style. So far it's been a pretty much fun build that I'm really enjoyin' !!! These older cars are so much less complicated !!!

.?.

I had to add some addition angle to the heads to this "Nailhead" to get them horizontally level, but I think they'll work out. The body's bout ready for paint and I'll be workin' on some detail for the motor, as it was pretty plain.

Its comin' together!! Lookin' Good!!!  fbr Where'd you get a '46 Ford coupe body? Neal :)))

The body came from an old Monogram/Testors '46-'48 that I had in the bone yard.
I think I originally built it back when I was building my 1:1 early '47 (30 some years ago). Progress came to a halt about a week ago when the weather became too hot and humid outside and too cold in Guido's air conditioned shop to even set CA with insta-set.
We had to close shop, but we're taken advantage of the time and remodelng the entire exterior of the building ,adding 2 bays at the rear with a new body shop and a down draft both !! This should be completed soon to finish this car off right.
Vito Carlini of Bada Bing Construction assures me that "You gunna like ! " Keep an eye out in the next week in the diorama tread. 3rr

Sooner or later, This one's gettin' done. Finished the Thursday Night Thunder car, so we're gettin' back to this guy..... Got the body parts and wheels painted just for a sanity check on the color scheme. So far, I'm pretty happy with it. .?.
