This is the latest detailed build I have been working. I wanted to post it here and share it as I go with all of you. I have wanted and needed to start post here more than I have and I figured this would be a good way to start that. Here is the subject at hand. This will be a speedway car when finished all the way down to the speedway nose. ![]() ![]()

here is where I am at so far. with the body. This body is a joint project of sorts for Jamie and myself. The nose work was all jamie's. I did the roof flaps, removed the deck lid and did the painting . This body is a combination of both a revell 2006 monte carlo and a JNS resins toytoa. When we started cutting the deck lid out and removing roof flaps and flash from the totyoa body, it just could not handle loosing that much material and stay in shape. I removed the nose from the resin body, and the rear TV panel/ rear bumper and grafted them back into the 2006 monte carlo body. I thought the plastic might hold shape a little more and it did.I really wished I would have photoed all of that. The paint is house of color basecoat white and then had testors one coat white lightning sprayed over the white. I am going to add the UPS brown and orange strpes that are decals then clear over the stripes. The brown you see on the car is from decals already. The stripes and I did not get along, and I am going to redo them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

On to the chassis, I have completely rebuilt the chassis. The entire cage from the driver and passenger side bars is scratchbuilt from .080 styrene rod. In the rear end section I cut out and removed the kit frame rails and added some that look more correct from strip styrene. I scrtachbuilt the fuel cell area from strip styrene. After all the scrtach building was done. I painted the chassis with nascar chassis gray, and it's ready to go.![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looking good Chris! I have not been paying too much attention to the recent builds anywhere but isn't that the first superdetailed Toyota build? I have two of the bodies, I am saving one hoping someone will eventually make Reutimann's 2007 Simpsons Movie car from the Brickyard, the other is going to be AJ Allmendinger's rookie car. |

thanks guys for the compliments. I have been plaqued with diffrent issues that has kept me from working on it. I finally got around to getting something done. I will post an update this weekend. Between both my airbrushes going down, and waiting on parts to show. I've been in a holding pattern. I have the airbruses fixed, the decals on and body ready for clear. My parts are starting to Arrive and I should be good for a little bit by the end of the weekend. Chris |

after airbrush issues a nd decal issues I finally got things going again. Here is the body cleared and decalled, I just need to polish it out. With the issues I had getting the decals to lay down as they were suspposed to, I have decalled the stripes three time with no luck. I was talking about my decal problems with Jeff Marsh and he gave me a suggestion to try, use a hair dryer. I dumped the decals in the water pulled them from the backing used a little solvaset and the hairdryer on low. Between the hairdryer and solva set it pulled the decals down without the first wrinkle. With the decals down it was time for clear, with my airbrush issues fixed here is the end result. I mocked up the body on the chassis to see what it was going to look like when done. I'll see what I can do to get it polished out and the rest of the decals on by the end of the weekend.![]() ![]() ![]() |

While clearing the body I started painting the engine with various alclad colors. Here is where it is so far. I have my line from chalrie and I am waiting fittings from detail master that have been apparently lost in the mail. I'm working that issue out with them currently. I see no need to worry about it though, detail master are good people. Once the fittings arrive, I'll start running lines. here is what I have so far. ![]() ![]() here is what I'm going for. ![]() chris |

looking good chris.yea decals and paint is my enemy. but i try,the whole dryer thing it does work, i use it also to speed up handeling and found out it makes the decal solvent do its job,the motor looks sweet can not wait to get the headers for this build,i love making headers 12r clutch p.s also im going to use pro-tech braided line,it looks easyier than detail master.just my two cents

Just a quick update: After having issues finding detail master #4 combin ation fittings. I had to set the car aside. I have looked for two months for the fittings, detail master is out and has been out for sometime. I had someone on the randy ayers board locate the fittings I needed. I can finally get back to work, as soon as they arrive, and the other fittings I just ordered from detail master. I'll be good to go again. It looks like my h.o. scale trains will be collecting dust again until the UPS car is done. I hope to have a darn near completed engine done by the end of the weekend. Chris |
