Here is WIP of Bud Lunsford's mid '60's skeeter car that he outran everybody almost every race. He was the "Man". I used to watch him race at Athens Speedway in Northeast Georgia when I was about 10 years old.

His cars were always painted "Gold" and carried the number 49. I've heard it told that he chose #49 because of the goldrush of 1849 and he was after the "gold" whenever he raced.

I have started posting old pictures of the skeeter cars that raced around Athens in the early '60's so you might want to take a look at my website. Decal-man.com

Here's the link:

Look forward to posting more pictures as I continue with the Lunsford build.

Good looking start Gary!........For those who don`t know, the track Gary spoke of is also one of the tracks I watched races on myself years ago. We also raced there. The Skeeters were always the Main attraction. Now if would get off my Duff and get started on the Jabez Jones & Charlie Mincey builds we could have our own Main.
PS Have you heard from Our friend Mr. Bentley.( Another Skeeter Guy)
Cant wait to see it finished Gary. :)))

Great lookin Ford Gary. :)))

I used to watch Bud when he raced his Chevy II Nova and his Camaro(s) all around Georgia in the late 70s until he retired from driving. He was the man to beat.
