This is a speedway class that is unique to NZ, it started off as something quite different in the late seventies, but has morphed into this upright style with a chassis design that is almost the same as a sprintcar. The main difference with the real cars is the cage has to be a thicker section pipe and there are a couple more bars in the rules. Engines are steel block, wheels have to be steel rims and the engines run on methanol through a 4bbl carb. Cars have to be fitted with a clutch and starter motor.This model was originally built for a Model Club modified night a few years ago and is a replica of a car that raced here in 2002-2003. The owner/driver of the car was actually one of the judges of our modified night and the look on his face when he saw the model was priceless. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
