I was driving my wife for x-rays, she stubbed her toe on my trolling motor battery that was charging in the kitchen (oops), when I saw this BEAUTY sittin' all alone. Thoght I would befriend her, take some pictures... Then build her or him. Enjoy! P.S. is that a Ford, cause that's all I have to be able to do this project. More to come. Posted Image

Looks like you have a crossbred racer there. The back window and trunk area are 46 to 48 Ford coupe, but the running gear is 36 Ford wide bolt pattern. You will have to find a Testors 48 Ford for the body and put the 36 Ford chassis under it.

Not so fast there Doc- your right about the year of the car,could be a 41 or 42 also, but not quite right about the chassis. Those are the 36-39 Wide 5 rims adapted to the later running gear. The frames from the 2 cars are way to different to swap. Also, check out Perrys resins, he has two versions of the 46-48 ford coupe bodies, the club coupe and the business coupe which this one is. You need the 46-48 Ford station Wagon kit for these bodies.I gotta keep my poster boy straight r:r

Uh Oh!! Did I lose my Poster Boy Statis? LOL I'm still alittle confused Karl. I don't see a station wagon in the picture. The pic I put up is a Randy Frost Business coupe. What kit had the Station Wagon and the Business coupe in it?

HELP!!!

You sure came across a good one Modman, wish I had that kind of luck! Keep us updated if you can.
Don't worry about your poster boy status doc :lol: What I meant was that in order to build one of these cars I use the Revell - Monogram 46/ 48 Ford Station Wagon kit. There is no coupe body in the kit.They were released a while back but I still see them on ebay as well as other sites. By the way,have you been able to get out of the house without a boat yet?

I think you guys have it right with the buisness coupe. Year.........`46-`48? The Woodie chassis would be great under this car. Use a set of wide five 36 type wheels from a Couple of resin casters I know 3rr and you would ready to go.

Will this work?Posted Image
I work at least 12 or more hrs. a day, 5-6 days a week, so this is gonna take a while to finish. I didn't like the chassis the way it was, so after an hour of cutting this is what I've got.Posted Image cut the fenders off and left the rest like the real car. My question is should I continue or am I making a mockery? ;a;

To be correct, you can't use the 40 Ford body. Frame unsure about. Refer back to Karl's post on the frame.

I know, just my way of tryin' ta fit in.

What you have started will make for a great old modified, but to make a copy of the car in your picture, the 40 Ford won't look like it when you're done.
Nothing wrong with what you have, and you don't have to TRY to fit in here!! Everyone is WELCOME here.

Hey Modman, this is what I was describing before. The first thing to remember with this site is to have fun and build what you like. Your 40 project is off to a great start. If you want to go this way its' your choice. Actually, the only one who might have to worry about fitting in around here is me, seem to keep adding a few more pounds every year. .?. Keep us updated no matter which way you decide to go.Nice thing is that you can find someone here that knows something about whatever your interests are, and is willing to share.

I was only kidding, I'm not really "that" insecure. I figure that I'll just build a killer '40 Ford Mod. It should be a fun project. Just don't know 'bout the motor... Flathead or other. Thanx a lot for all the input on the post. I'm still gonna build that car, but I have to buy more kits...What a shame. r:r
