The 36 is a good subject matter to get back to the roots with Mike. Looks like you are off to a good start.

Glad you all like what I've done so far. This isn't being modelled after any particular car, it is just being built in the style of the cars that ran here in Southeast Missouri in the late fifties and early sixties. It will not have a hood since the "B" cars, as they were called here, hardly ever ran hoods. Here's a picture of the body and chassis. ![]() I've got the decals printed and the seat built. Still have to paint the wheels and build the motor and find four tires that I like. If I can ever manage to get hold of a 48 Ford coupe I'm going to build this car. ![]() I just about grew up in the shop this car came from and my dad and I used to ride with the guy kneeling in the front of the picture towing the car with a tow bar to the races. That's all for today, have to go race slot cars tonight. Big Mike |

Mike, I have a Testor`s 48 and Believe me you would be better off to start with a resin coupe. There is several out there who cast the 48. |

Thanks for all the compliments and information. Not a lot of 36 Fords were used here either but there were a couple that I know of. Most of the cars were Model A, 32, 33, 34, 39 and 40 Ford coupes and sedans with a few post war Fords thrown in and some Chevy coupes and sedans too. There was even a 40's Oldsmobile and late 30's Hudson that raced here that were always threats to win. Big Mike |

Wasn't in the mood to do very much with this today but I did get the decals put on and painted some of the small parts.![]() ![]() There really was a Walton & Williams Ford dealer in Sikeston, Mo. in the fifties but I don't know if they ever sponsored a race car. Big Mike |

I've pretty much got the chassis finished but the paint on the wheels isn't dry yet and this cool weather sure isn't helping it dry any. Got the seat made, painted and mounted, mounted the shocks, found a gas tank and mounted it along with a gas line, finished up the motor and put some screen in front of the radiator. Just a typical 1950's Southeast Missouri "B" car.![]() ![]() ![]() Big Mike |

Thanks for all the compliments and encouragement on this build. Well, I think it is finished. I wasn't real happy with the motor looking so shiny in the pictures I posted last night so I mixed up some real watery mud and brushed over it and now I'm pretty happy with it. While I was at it I did the tread on the tires too. I still might go back and make the whole car just a little dirty but haven't made up my mind yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() Big Mike |
