Grant King Sprint car; Want to do a *cageless* build

Hi All,

r2d2

I love the old *cageless* Sprinters. I have a Grant king kit and would like to build one from it. Would removing the cage parts and substituting a simple roll bar behind the driver be correct for an earlier Sprint car? Also, chould I substitute an Offy for the small block??

TIA!

As of right now, I know that Bill Jorgensen casts some nice looking Firestones on Hildebrands that he mastered for the early Watson Roadsters from Indy. Don't really know exactly how accurate they would be for Sprinters, but they are 1/25th scale, and I am guessing the sizes are correct, but they are asphalt tires.

Offy's are pretty easy to find in the AMT Indy cars.

This went from just wanting to build a cageless Sprint Car to the point that I just might be doing an Offy Sprinter!

Thanks, guys!

I suggest any narrow old 60s style drag slick will work. You can angle groove them too.

If you don't crash once in a while, how do you know you're going as fast as you can?

You could take the "old style" AMT 1964 series Indy tires...chcuk them in a dremel tool....sand them flat, then razor saw new "Dirt" style treds.......yall remember the Don Edmonds Monogram "Super Modified" perfect front wheels, and you could razor saw tha rear wheels also.....

As far as tha GK sprint body....take tha Squirrel cage off....and make tha simple roll bar.....tha arse end of the GK Sprinter is a generic.....coulda been anybodys aluminum sheet metal work......I've seen them used a gas tanks on "Silver Crown" racecars......

luv this avatar....kiss mah grits.... r8
