If this is the first Grant King based kit you have worked on, I can understand your frustrations!!!
The first of these kits I put together back in 1974, when the first came out (?), I found the frame jig slots were a bit too wide and had to narrow the slots in order for the frame cross members to fit as well as the front axle lining up with the pins. As far as the supermodified body pieces fitting, I don't remember having a problem with them, but the sprint car nose, hood needed quite a bit of trimming. shaving in order for them to fit right, espeically the lower part of the nose cone where it goes around the axle, and the sprint hood was too tight of a fit without filing/sanding/cutting down the inside areas of the hood. AFter building the first super mod and sprint, I knew what needed to be done with the ensuing builds....four of the supermods and nine of the sprints in a five year span. though only one of the supermods exist in running condition, one was busted up in various moves, and one was partially taken apart for a rebuild that was never finished and one was tossed. The nine sprints still exist today pretty much the way they were built/rebuilt after initially put togther. though one of the sprints never went past completing the frame, a deliberate move on my part...always need a spare frame....though that frame is now destined to be completed as I have rounded up the parts needed to complete a build....
Yeah, I found putting these together to be a bit frustrating, though not as frustrating as trying to put the Tobias modified frame together!

I don't know which is worse....trying to get the Grant King sprint/supermod frame together right, or trying to install the front axle assembly and rear end/axle into the Revell/Monogram sprints. Probably one of the reasons I ever built two of the R/M sprints, though I have had two others in my collection for around 20 years, one of which was started, but never got past putting the frame and steering box together and started putting the engine together...
