I have been asked by several members to do a Flathead detail how to. I thought why not do a complete Jalopy build including the flathead detail. I have 3 body choices on hand and You are going to pick the one. Here are the choices,![]() ![]() ![]() 1-`32 sedan 2-`32 5 window coupe 3-`32 vickey sedan I will let this thread run for a few days and you let me know which one the how to will be on. Then I will compile a basic list of what is going to be used. I will try to make it a list that can be found by everyone. It will will be built with 95% kit parts. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Please let me say that the `32 sedan is only availible in resin, Coupe and Vickey are still avalible from the hobby shops. |

Here is a few kits that I have found to be helpful in building jalopys![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All of these kits have decent chassis and ebgines , some better than others. |

Whoops I left out one.....![]() Next is a collection of chassis I recomend. ![]() Left to right.....AMT `32 coupe, Amt`32 Phaeton, A modified Phaeton chassis that will be used on the build and a AMT `34 Ford. the 34 coupe and sedan have the same chassis. Not pictured is the AMT `32 Vickey kit, it also has the basic componets for a Jalopy build. I like to use the Revell Running Gear and engine , But the others will work fine with a little detailing. |

Decisions.......Decisions  Well since this will have to be one of my Atlanta builds.............I will be using the third chassis from the left in the pic and the complete drive train out of the Revell `40 standard kit. But do not let this keep ya from going Jalopys riding :D . If you are just looking for a good shelf build use the AMT`32 ford coupe. The chassis has the rear molded in but fine for a display model. You could also use the kit engine and just dress it up a little. The same dress up priciples I use on the revell engine can apply to just about any flathead. One more day on the poll.............But it looks like I will be going Jalopy racing in a Vicky.......

Just a little update on the Chassis. Now dont get excited Dover , the white walls are just for display ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The rear cross member had to be replaced with the Revell `40 Member. The front Wishbones will have to be split to clear the engine and the Torque tube will be shortened on the Revell Columbia rear end. |
