Welcome ladies, gentlemen, kids of all ages, crews, and drivers to 12th and final round of the 2018 SNRA Southern Fryed Drag Tour here at the Sunshine Nationals at New Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Florida. It is the best of times and thee worst of times.

Tonight is the final event for 2018. Weve had nine different winners in the first eleven events. Its been a close fought battle with Gretchen leading most of the way. She is currently tied with Mitch for the lead. Butch and Chargin Charlie are tied for 3rd. Seven drivers still have a mathematical chance of being the 2018 SNRA Southern Fryed Drag Tour champion.

Sadly tonight is not only the last race of 2018, but maybe the last Southern Fryed Drag Tour race ever. Nothing is cast in stone, but the SFDT may move to the QuarterMilers Model Forum. Check it out.

We just can't seem to shake this rain. It's been sunny last couple of days, but the radar says there's a 50% chance of rain by 11. Let's hope it holds until we're done. The temps are in the high 70s.

So let's go racing and see who will be the 2018 Southern Fryed Drag Tour Champion.

Our first pair of the evening are the 2017's champion, Otto Varoom VS our current co-points leaded and winner of Races #5 & 3, Gretchen Brennecke.

Gretchen is driving the Shaker, a 1965 Nova AWB.
Posted Image

Otto is piloting The "what The----Altered. A supermodified turned Altered, powered by a 425 C.I.blown Buick Nailhead.
Posted Image

They both do their burn outs and stage. Gretchen roars away with a 0.8 secon
d head start. Otto charges after her, but to no avail. Gretchen holds on for the win and will move into round 2.

Posted Image

Once the smoke clears, they are staged. Speed charges off with 2.6 seconds. "ET" roars after him. Speed hangs on for the win. Speed will be in round 2.

Here comes Dirttrack Dave VS the winner of Race #1, Larry Reeves.

Dave is running his 1972 Nova SS-Pro stock with a 454 Chevy and sponsored by DTD Motorsports Valvoline Oil. He calls it the Old Poo.
Posted Image

Larry is driving a '63 Chevy Biscayne with a 350 small block.
Posted Image

They prep their tires and stage. Larry thunders off with a 1.2 second lead. Dave drops the hammer and Old Poo catches Larry in time. Dave, also will be in round 2.

WooHoo, got me another Wally or whatever they are called. Elmer really pulled out all the stops for this weekend, got that SBC to scream like a striped-***, err I mean like it is supposed to. Oh, and BTW I am Rick Johnson not Rick Thompson, although I would not have minded being a relative of the late, great Mickey.

First, congratulations to Rick on winning the final event of the season. :))) Second, though Lafontaine doesn't agree, if I couldn't win the title, I am happy that Gretchen won!!! fbr Gotta love the whole Brennecke clan, especially those beautiful Teutonic gals.
Third, we are happy with 4th and two event wins. We ran well and had our best drag season ever.

Finally and most importantly, Thanks to Wisdonm for his efforts over the years and right up to the end here! It is a lot of work, more so than the SNRA Late Models, and I know having done it the first couple of years. He really put a lot into it and I am thankful. If I can roll up my sleeves and get a new drag car under my belt I surely will join you and the SFDT in its new home Don. .z.

With that, I bid you all farewell. For those needing to find me I'll be at Plastic Model Circle Track Race Cars on Facebook, you can message me, or whatever. It is there that the SNRA will kick off its 10th season and we have a big field already. It is unfortunate that the participation at the Lobby tailed off, but I am not its owner, or head. I have no idea how it is run except for what I did in the SNRA. The person supposedly in charge, Jamie, doesn't seem to be interested. I couldn't pay people to post or advertise to get people interested. If anyone wishes to start up any series on the Lobby as far as I know, you can have at it and I'll wish you luck. To continue to serve modellers who wish a little taste of what might have been in the 1:1 world of racing but who could never do it, like me, I had to make the move for the survival of the SNRA. Pops wanted it to survive. Sadly, the fact of the matter is that to continue it here would be like going for a cruise on a ghost ship. I am sorry for this, but do not apologize. People are free to post or not post wherever they might like in our world.

Thank you everyone for a wonderful nine years, and thank you Wisdonm.
