Name: Zuet Hekog
Meaning: Ghost Hare

Locations: North & South America & Australia. Others are yet to be discovered.

Status: Nearly extinct. The clans living in Redwood Ravine is one of three known groups in America.

Life-Span: Zuet Hekog age at the same rate as humans appearance-wise, but mature slower mentality-wise and hormonally-wise. They live long lives and very rarely die of old age. Zuet Hekogs become an 'ancient' when they are the oldest living member of a certain blood-line, can control the Ghost Land ability, and have reached a ripe age of about 200 or more.

Names: Zuet Hekog only have 3 lettered names, or are named after a plant, like 'Tree'. Plant names tend to be masculine or simple plants. Never pretty flowers.

Temperament: Zuet Hekog are dominant aggressive. They consider themselves above most animals, but sometimes share respect for wolves or other equally strong animals. Many clans tend to be haughty, prideful, arrogant, and cocky.
Zuet Hekog have near-human intelligence.
Zuet Hekog are social animals and usually live in clans of Zuet Hekog, or will move in and take over rabbits or hare warrens.
The natural tendency of Zuet Hekogs, especially Kix's warren since he was raised in a breeding colony, is to stick together because it helps keep track of bloodlines, builds a history, maintains a community, and the more Zuet Hekogs that are friendly with each other, the more breeding that will happen. Zuet Hekogs may be aggressive ass holes, but they wouldn't start wars of violence towards other Zuet Hekog outside of the warren because of the great value they put on preserving their race, and keeping good relationships with other warrens, wolf packs, etc., is also important.

Diet: Zuet Hekog are omnivorous, but prefer meat: either cooked or raw.

Physiology:
  • Body: Lithe, muscular, light weight bodies. Zuet Hekog are built for hunting. They are extremely fast, flexible, agile, and made of muscle. They are lethal killers, and can often take down a wolf, and are easily solitary hunters.
  • Weight: 70-90lbs
  • Size: Varies. Ranges from is slightly smaller than a pharaoh hound to a medium sized dog, like a red wolf or coyote.
  • Tails: Most American Zuet Hekog clans have long tufted tails. Australian Zuet Hekog have short hare-like tails.
  • Coloration: Natural fur colors seen in nature, rarely black, and never white. Any white seen on a Zuet Hekog is caused by a loss of pigmentation due to albinism or using the 'Ghost Land' power.
  • Paws: Cat-like. Opposable thumbs. Semi-retractable claws.
  • Eye Markings: All Zuet Hekog have an identifying eye marking. They are random, and don't have meaning in most clans.
  • Eyes: Eyes can be any color, but are of dark pigmentation. Light colored eyes or red colored eyes are an indication of pigmentation loss due to albinism or the 'Ghost Land' power.
  • Markings: Markings are cat-like. They can be striped, rosetted, masked, solid or a combination.
  • Teeth: Zuet Hekog have rodent-like incisors, while canines and molars are carnivorous and cat-like.

Breeding & Sexuality
  • Sexually mature at age 15.
  • Zuet Hekog NEVER inbreed.
  • Zuet Hekog can breed with any mammal.
  • Mammal cross breeding does not mix attributes. It's either 100% Zuet Hekog or 100% Animal X. There is only a 1/100 chance that the offspring will be Zuet Hekog.
  • Zuet Hekog have 1-4 babies per litter.
  • Most Zuet Hekog put strong emphasis on breeding, and breeding selectively with only strong mates.
  • Traditional Zuet Hekog usually only have one life mate, but due to the lack of Zuet Hekog, some newer generations will change mates regularly in order to increase the population.
  • New generation Zuet Hekog are very sexually active.
  • "Zuet Hekog's ears are like the equivalent to a girl's breasts or guy's package; playing/stroking the ears is considered very sexual. Also, the ears serve like breasts, they are a similar focal point for the opposite sex on a Zuet Hekog." -Box

Special Abilities:
  • Can shape shift to a human, or a hare, and anywhere between.
  • At one time Zuet Hekogs had the ability to suck the life-force out of an area, killing animals, and plants, and anything living. This created a 'Ghost Land' where lost spirits materialize and wander aimlessly, giving them their name "Ghost Hare". This was done by shamanistic Zuet Hekogs in order to speak to the dead. This ability has been thought lost for hundreds of years.

"The Ghost Hare ability is very intense and destructive to the animals body. They can be passed out for days and normally don't remember what happened or connect their surroundings with their doings. Kix lost pigment in skin, fur, and eyes from it, and has only done it twice in his entire life and has no memory of it. This ability wipes out a huge area and usually leaves it prey to the supernatural. Only ancients have a built up tolerance for the ability which gives them control over it." -Tiamat

Cultural Taboos
"Taboo isn't really a type of fashion sense, it's a life-style choice that usually tells others "I'm fucked up. I've fucked up. I'm tainted in some way." It's seen as unattractive and, well, taboo. To some ZH, those who practice the taboo are not suitable mates. Your character needs to have a good reason to bring this kind of stigma to herself." -Tiamat
  • Piercings
  • Tattoos
  • Cutting the mane short
  • In-breeding
  • Mating with humans
  • Living as full human

"Kix's character has gone through a unique and traumatic life, causing him to make some decisions that are looked down upon by traditional Zuet Hekogs." -Box
