Rani: Reema will surely make a good film! March 5, 2011 02:37:18 PM IST Abid, Glamsham Editorial Despite a resounding comeback via this year's first major hit, NO ONE KILLED JESSICA, the Rani of Bollywood, Rani Mukherjee, has not gone on a signing spree. The only film that she has officially signed and finalised is Excel Entertainment's Reema Kagti directed venture. And she has some very solid reasons behind that. Rani has made it amply clear that she will not sign films merely to make her presence felt or even for friendship as she feels that such decisions backfire and the paying public gets disenchanted with such actors pretty soon. Stating her reasons for signing Reema Kagti's project Rani explained that the main reason for her doing the film was that she believed in the story and also had faith in not only the banner (as they had made some brilliant films earlier) but has high hopes from Reema Kagti who she feels will surely make a good film. She also elaborated that actors like Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor too have placed their trust in Reema and also the script and this surely is a pointer that her hopes are not unfounded. Well, it does appear that we have a great film coming up in the form of Reema's Aamir, Rani and Kareena starrer. |

Rani and Aamir shoot secretly for Reema Kagti's next by Yashika kapoor - March 8, 2011 - 0 comments ShareThis Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan and actress Rani Mukherjee are back together in Reema Kagti’s forthcoming untitled next. Well, their chemistry had created quite a stir in both their previous films ‘Ghulam’ and ‘Mangal Pandey’, in which the two were paired opposite each other, and this time too, the duo is set to sizzle on the silver screen. Buzz has it that the duo has been clandestinely meeting since the past week, in an old Parsi bungalow in the Five Garden area in Mumbai city. But Kiran need not worry as they are reportedly shooting there for their upcoming film. "No one's allowed inside the set, other than Aamir and Rani, the director, and the technicians," informed a unit member. Aamir and my chemistry has only got better--Rani Interestingly, all the secrecy relating to the movie is not minded by Rani Mukherjee, who is all perked up on the prospect of working with her favorite co-star once again. She quipped, "For me it's wonderful to work with Aamir, especially after so long! `Mangal Pandey' wasn't based on us. But this one is more about us. Over the years Aamir and my chemistry have only got better. If you don't believe wait for this movie.” About the project The untitled project of Kagti also features Kareena Kapoor in the lead role, apart from Rani and Aamir. This suspense thriller will see Aamir playing the role of a bearded policeman and the roles of the female characters have not yet been revealed. The film is yet in its initial stages of shooting and we hope that all Rani and Aamir fans are not left disappointed by this one, as while Rani’s last film ‘No One Killed Jessica’ was a hit, Aamir’s ‘Dhobi Ghat’ did not perform well at the box-office. |

Aamir Khan is waiting for tonight! Published: Sunday, Mar 13, 2011, 10:06 IST Bollywood heavyweight Aamir Khan turns a year older tomorrow, but the celebrations apparently will begin tonight when the actor will bring in his birthday with family and close friends. However, the venue might not be his Pali Hill residence, but the sets of the Reema Kagti film in South Mumbai, where the star is currently shooting with co-star Rani Mukerji. Since the actor is shooting nights and doesn’t get off until seven in the morning, buzz is that Kagti and Rani along with the film unit are planning to surprise the star with cake-cutting and a small bash on the sets tonight at 12. A source says, that since Aamir is such a thorough professional, they might not cancel the shoot, but it’s a possibility that cannot be ruled out completely either. Apparently, filmmaker wife Kiran Rao too has a few surprises lined up for hubby later in the day. Another source close to the star reveals, “Initially, there were plans to whisk Aamir away for a day to Panchgani, but considering his schedules, Kiran is now planning to throw a dinner bash at home for close friends and family.” Actor Salman Khan too was reportedly planning a bash for good buddy Aamir, but nothing’s been finalised yet, claimed the source. During the day, however, the actor’s planning to spend some quality time at home. “Aamir is planning to spend the entire day at home with his family. His mum is here and he has kept aside all work commitments to spend quality time with his family. He also plans to wrap the shoot early and head home by four in the morning. This year, Aamir is keen on a quieter birthday,” said an insider. Whatever the plans may be, the one thing that Khan most looks forward to on his big day are the birthday cards from Kiran. According to an insider, “He treasures the cards that Kiran herself makes for him, the most. She has in the past given him hand-painted cards and he absolutely loved the personalised touch.” |

Aamir says he is waiting for Salman's marriage Aamir Khan, like everyone, is waiting eagerly for his friend Salman Khan to get married. "I am waiting for Salman's wedding. I believe everyone is desperately waiting for his wedding. The day he gets married would be khaas (special) for all of us. Whenever I talk to Salman about wedding he just smiles," said Aamir at his Pali Hill residence, after cutting the birthday cake. When asked who would be the ideal choice for Salman, Aamir said, "He has many good looking girls (hasinas) roaming around him. So he has the choice." The two Khans were last seen together onscreen in Rajkumar Santoshi's Andaz Apna Apna (1994), a cult comedy. According to reports, both are keen to do a sequel. Of late, both the actors have become good buddies. If Salman praises Aamir's Peepli Live then Aamir reciprocates by praising Dabangg. Aamir, who turned 46 today, says biggest gift for his birthday would be the title for Reema Kagti's upcoming suspense-thriller film. "Give me a title for Reemaji's film and that would be the biggest gift on my birthday. It is a suspense-thriller film. I request my fans and audience to think of a name." Besides Kagti's untitled project with Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor, he would be seen in Yash Raj's Dhoom 3 too. |

Reema Kagti clarifies that she wont shoot with stars in red light area for her next By Subhash K. Jha Reema Kagti Aamir Khan, who turned 46 recently, has one of the biggest challenges of his career awaiting him. He will shoot Reema Kagti's film whose working-title is Act Of Providence was to be shot in a real red-light area. It was being debated whether it would be practical for the team consisting of mega-stars Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor to shoot on real locations and that too in places known to be a security hazard. After much deliberation, it has been decided that Reema Kagti's murder mystery set in a red-light area won't be shot in an actual red-light area. It was earlier felt that the feel and authenticity, the congested sexual politics of a red-light area could not be captured on a set in a studio. However, full security bandobast to ensure that the stars were fully protected while shooting on the volatile locations, seemed impossible. Says the spokesperson for the film, "So far, whatever has been shot, the director and the actors, have made sure it would be done on an authentic location. So, I guess the portions to come too would opt for authenticity." However, Reema Kagti confirms there is no shooting in an actual red-light area. Authenticity has its limits. |

Rani is also a social worker in Reema's film.. ============================== Aamir Khan Shoots Incognito at Charni Road Station April 26, 2011, (Sawf News) - Aamir Khan deftly shot a chase sequence for Reema Kagti's Next at Western Railway's Charni Road station in South Mumbai Sunday evening, April 24 around 5 pm, a peak holiday commute hour. Khan pulled off the guerrilla shoot without being mobbed or disturbed by fans, as commuters went about their business oblivious to the shoot. The 46-year-old actor plays a Crime Branch cop in the film and the sequence shot showed him chasing a criminal.. A Jib mounted camera was positioned on a bridge close to the railway station, allowing the director to capture a view of the entire station without alerting anyone to the film crew's presence. The film's unit arrived on location to rig up the camera an hour before the shoot. Some commuters noticed the jib crane and made inquiries, but the crew played down their excitement saying they were on location to film a TV commercial with a little known male model. As a result, no crowd gathered.. A Sawfnews.com source tells us that Aamir came out of his vanity van when the cameras were placed and did the shoot in just 2 takes, and he was gone. The shoot wrapped immediately as they crew managed to capture the scene successfully! Charni Road is a key station for Mumbaikers who want to visit the nearby Girgaum Chowpatty (beach). On a Sunday people start arriving at the station from 4 pm onwards to walk down to Chowpatty. What may have made the shoot easier is that the Mumbai Indians' match was being telecast around that time and most people were indoors glued to their TV sets. Khan appears to have mastered the art of successfully filming in crowded Mumbai, without being hassled by fans. He pulled off a guerrilla shoot using hidden cameras during the filming of Dhobi Ghat last year, when he shot during the holy month of Ramzan in the crowded and predominantly Muslim locality of Bhendi Bazaar in South Mumbai. More recently, Salman Khan went unrecognized in crowded Colaba in Mumbai, while shooting Bodyguard earlier this month. Reema Kagti's Next, reportedly titled Zakhmi, is set in a red light area in Mumbai. It additionally headlines Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor, who play the roles of social worker and sex worker respectively. Aamir Khan is also co-producer of the film. |

Salman's Dabangg act irks Aamir Khan Aamir insists he's not copying Salman Khan in hs next cop flick... Actor Aamir Khan plays a cop in Reema Kagti's film also starring Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor. When Aamir interacted with the press recently, he was asked if he is trying to go the Salman way, and play cop just like Sallu did in 'Dabangg'. Aamir Khan simply laughed and said, "I know that Dabangg was a good movie, and I also know that Salman did well as Chulbul Pandey. But people seem to be forgetting that we, too, have done cop roles in the past. I played a cop in 'Sarfarosh'. Our roles weren't that forgettable, I'm sure." About Reema Kagti's movie, Aamir said that he was working out just enough to look right in the cop outfit. "It's a thriller, an entertaining movie, the release of which I'm looking forward to." |

Wary of Kareena, Rani meets Aamir Even though Rani had a meaty role in Jessica, it was Vidya who ended up getting rave reviews for her part. Rani feels that the same might happen with her in Aamir's film and she had a meeting expressing her reservations over the same. A source reveals, "Rani feels that she needs to play the under dog in the film, and being protagonist doesn't really mean recognition. Aamir has assured her that the character she's playing is tailor made for her. In fact Rani and Bebo don't even have any face off scenes like the ones in Jessica. They both have parallel tracks with Aamir that meet only during the end of the film." There was a hush hush meeting with Aamir that had director Reema Katgi and Rani discussing her role in the film. "Since Aamir has worked with both the actresses there is no question of favouring anyone in particular. But he wanted to give Rani an audience and hear her out." We wonder if this meeting had any positive outcome for Rani ? |

Aamir’s film with Reema Kagti to be called ‘Dhuan’ After months of being nameless, Aamir Khan’s next film with Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji gets a title…for now Shakespeare asked, “What’s in a name?” And Bollywoodwallahs say, “Everything!” A lot of new-age Hindi filmmakers pay a lot of attention to the film’s title. They consider it to be the most important point in cinematic storytelling. That’s why, lately, a lot of them finalise the name of their production long after the film’s shoot is over. Just like Aamir Khan’s film with Reema Kagti. A birdie tells us that finally she and her producers, Excel Entertainment, have settled for a very serious title: Dhuan. And it will remain so unless the makers change their collective mind again. Remember in its initial phase the project created a lot of buzz for various reasons? One, Reema has directed only one film (Honeymoon Travels Ltd), yet she easily impressed the ace Khan with her script. Two, Aamir plays a cop in the suspense drama. Three, it was shot at some real locations in Mumbai and during that stint the superstar merrily interacted with his fans from the neighbourhood. And last but not the least, two leading ladies of Bollywood – Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji – are accompanying Aamir in the thriller. So understandably there are a lot of expectations from this one. But you will have to wait to get a feel of the film. Earlier it was supposed to release in January 2012, but now one hears it has been postponed since there are many other big releases slated for the same month. Until we know more, we with with our heads in the dhuan and wonder what will happen next… |

Aamir Khan can't budge Ajay Devgn A tug-of-war has apparently broken out between actors Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan, both of whom are sending feelers to each other to shift the release date of their forthcoming films. Both have declared the release date of their films — Aamir’s Dhuan (directed by Reema Kagti) and Ajay’s Tezz (directed by Priyadarshan) — on Republic Day (January 26) next year. Both films are important to their respective stars, they’re not willing to budge on the date and are clashing for the first time. Each film boast of a stellar cast — Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in Dhuan, and Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut and South star Mohanlal playing significant roles in Tezz. “There have been feelers from Aamir Khan’s camp to Ajay that the release date of his film be moved. They (team from Aamir Khan Productions) have asked for a meeting with Ratan Jain (producer of Tezz) to sort out the release date issue and avert a clash between the two actors,” says a source. Apparently Ajay is in no mood to avert the clash. “Team Aamir says that they had declared the release date long back, and hence they have the right to release the film on Republic Day. They are requesting that Ajay’s film be pushed back by another week,” the source adds. On the other hand, several factors have prompted Ajay’s team to release the film on that day, and they have apparently decided not to change that now. “We are not shifting the film. First of all, January 26 is a Thursday and we are getting a long weekend for the audience. Any film releasing on that slot is a sure-shot hit. We can’t let go off that date. To top it all, we have already moved the date once to accommodate Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar,” says a unit member of Ajay’s film. |

Reema Kagti's Aamir Khan starrer to be titled Dhuaan? MUMBAI: The new Aamir Khan starrer, which is tentatively titled Act Of Providence, where he plays a cop with a wife (Rani Mukherjee) and a girlfriend (Kareena Kapoor), finally got a title….well, almost! Apparently director Reema Kagti and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani zeroed in on the title Dhuaan, and then decided to drop it at the last minute. A source tells Businessofcinema.com, “Everyone thought Dhuaan is a perfect title because the film is a suspense thriller. Nothing is as it seems. While Aamir’s cop-character is investigating a murder in a red-light area, his personal life too is shrouded in a smoky haze of ambiguity, hence Dhuaan fitted in perfectly.” However, movies with Dhuaan or related words like Dhund (the title of a B R Chopra whodunit from 1973) in the suspense format have not worked. Dulal Guha’s suspense thriller Dhuaan in 1981 (a remake of Chase A Shadow) was a fiasco. Even a film titled Dhuen Ki Lakeer didn’t work. For now Aamir’s film is again without a title. Dhuaan has been dropped and Reema Kagti’s film is back to being called Act Of Providence among the cast and crew. As the release date 26 January approaches the paranoia about not finding a suitable title increases. The source adds, “Aamir is a stranger to such title deadlocks. Most of his films have found titles from before production. Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s company is frequently stuck for titles. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was called Running With The Bulls until almost the end. And Game was originally titled Crooked.” While Kagti and Farhan admit no title has been finalized, yet another source says Dhuaan may yet make it to the hoardings. “The release date is approaching and if another more appropriate title is not found Reema Kagti’s film will be titled Dhuaan.” |

Agneepath to release on Republic Day It will be Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath and not Aamir Khan’s Dhuan that will be the big Republic Day release next year. Even though it is not a typically patriotic film, Agneepath is definitely a quintessential Indian film. So, as soon as he heard that the Aamir-Kareena Kapoor-Rani Mukerji starrer was not going to make its January 26 deadline, producer Karan Johar, who was gearing up for a January 13 release earlier, postponed his film’s opening to the Republic Day weekend. “I would never have opened with Aamir’s film. He is a humongous star and, along with co-producers Farhan (Akhtar) and Riteish (Sidhwani), a friend of mine. In fact, it was Riteish who suggested we take advantage of the national holiday that falls on Thursday, making it a four-day weekend. I immediately grabbed the opportunity,” says Karan. Point out that Venus may be targeting the same date for Ajay Devgn’s action thriller Tezz and he says, “I’m not sure if they are. We were sure of the Aamir film and that’s not coming.” Hrithik’s debut film, Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai, released on January 13, 2000, and he was hoping to get lucky on the same day a second time. How has he reacted to the change in plans? “He’s happy. It’s his birthday month and January has proved lucky for not just Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai but Karan Arjun (1995), Rang De Basanti (2006) and this year’s No One Killed Jessica,” reasons Karan. The reactions to the first trailer have been mind-blowing and Karan’s looking to unveil the next one in October-November and announce the distribution and satellite deals, which he’s hoping to lock soon. “What's gratifying is that by virtue of its visual content and Sanjay Dutt’s Kancha Cheena look, the first promo managed to squash all comparisons with the original,” says Karan, adding that the second one will have more dialogue since it takes the audience deeper into Vijay's world. Wasn’t this the world that underworld gangster Manya Surve inhabited till he was gunned down in a police encounter? “I have no idea who the original Vijay Dinanath Chauhan was modelled on. All I can say is that director Karan Malhotra’s vision and Hrithik's brilliance have created a Vijay whom you’ve never seen before,” he retorts. “The original Agneepath (1990) acquired cult status, we are hoping for a super-hit status with this one and the four-day weekend should help us achieve that goal.” |

Music by Ram Sampath ----------- It's Reema's call The runaway success of Ram Sampat's 'Bhaag D K Bose' track seems to be the start of good tidings for the composer. Sampat has bagged Reema Kagti's Aamir Khan-starrer for Farhan-Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Productions. What is remarkable here is Excel has worked almost exclusively with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy from their first production,Dil Chahta Hai to their latest,Don 2andZindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Since Aamir is the hero of Excel's new film, we asked him if he was responsible for the change in the music director. Aamir said, "All decisions regarding the cast and crew in Reema's film have been taken by her. Ram is a fantastic musician. I asked Reema to listen to the songs ofDelhi Belly and she also liked them. She met Ram, spent time with him and then selected him on her own. I am also fond of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who composed for my film,Taare Zameen Par. I worked very closely with them as a director. Ultimately, the choice of the cast and crew is the director's." http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-cinemaplus/article2214621.ece |

Is Aamir Khan wearing a cop uniform in ‘Dhuan’ or not? We found this picture on the Internet, where Aamir Khan is seen wearing a police uniform and embracing the lovely Rani Mukerji. Just the other day, we told you about how the actor is not happy seeing himself as a cop in uniform, and so has decided to do away with it completely. Aamir will apparently burn a hole in the producer’s pocket and reshoot scenes in civilian clothes. Considering the actor had been shooting in the wee hours in south Mumbai for the film until recently, wethinks it’s a lot of pain he is gonna put his cast and crew through in order to go through the gruelling schedule again! Maybe Aamir took a hasty decision to sport the khaki wardi seeing the success of buddy Salman Khan in Dabangg and Wanted. Wot say? |
