Make-up Trend: Purple-Lined Eyes

Posted Image

At the Toronto International Film festival Rani Mukherjee's eyes had a smoky purple touch to them. To try your luck with the look, rim your eyes with a black pencil, and use a soft brush to dab shimmery eggplant purple shadow along the top and bottom lash lines. Blend the shadow upwards, keeping it heavier on the lid, and fading along the brow bone.

4 reasons why Bebo & Kat need to start worrying RIGHT NOW...

by Amrita Mukherjee

Looks like Rani Mukherji is determined to give the much younger Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif a run for their money. Masala! reveals her gameplan...

All new body

Rani Mukherji not only set up a gym at home but spent hours in there with her trainer. She also took up yoga super seriously. Although she has not dropped to size zero like Bebo, she now has a body she can truly flaunt. And to think this is the same girl who looked pretty much rotund in her mini skirts in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai! Rani’s got herself a body at 30-plus that is every teeny bopper’s dream. Way to go!

Wardrobe make-over

From wearing designer shalwar suits, Rani’s changed to trendy maxis and shift dresses, skin tight jeans and corset tops. The actress, whose style sense was not something to write home about, has definitely got herself a new stylist and is keeping herself updated about what the latest IT girls are wearing. Sensible decision, Rani.

Younger hero

She’s all set to change the B’wood trend of a 40something hero romancing a 20something heroine. Rani’s acting with a much-younger Shahid and the age difference is not showing at all, if the promos are anything to go by. If Dil Bole Hadippa is a hit, then Rani can start the reverse trend and go on to work with Ranbir, Imran, Neil… What will the younger girls do then?

Tough role

Remember Hillary Swank playing a man in Boys Don’t Cry? Rani’s pushing the boundaries and doing just that in Dil Bole Hadippa. That too with comical overtones. Being a brilliant actress, she could well play the perfect Sikh. Better than Saif, Akshay, Ranbir and co...

Sallu–Rani: Badly in need of a hit
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, September 16, 2009]

Possibly, both of them are slogging all the way to taste their success. It’s a crucial phase in their career and they’re badly in need of a hit. Fine, will Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee make it big this time? By nature, this has been the most happening question that everyone wants to shoot out. Both the starts are ardently promoting their flicks ready to hit the screens on this Friday.

Rani Mukherji is already flying across the globe to promote her ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ and has received good laurels at Toronto international film festival. Meanwhile, Salman Khan leaves no stones unturned as he’s vigorously found promoting his ‘Wanted’ across every lane of Mumbai and other towns.

Both the stars have terribly failed to make it big in box office in the past couple of years. Salman Khan had to face hat-trick flops with ‘God Tussi The Great’, ‘Hello’ and ‘Yuvvraaj’. At the best, he needs to make it big with ‘Wanted’ directed by South Indian filmmaker Prabhu Deva.

Salman-Katrina mad-E for each other!
September 16th, 2009 - 6:07 pm ICT by sampurn -

They say, “Opposites attract’. They indeed do, if we go to see the hottest couple of B-Town Salman-Katrina. Yes, on one hand Katrina says a straight NO to twittering, on the other hand Salman Khan is busy promoting his upcoming film Wanted on social networking site Twitter.
Lashing out his fans on the social networking site, Salman tweets, “7000 votes for “Not Interested’ and only 9000 votes for first Day first show, why so fewer votes for first day first show ha?” Asks Salman to his fans.
Apparently Salman responded to the results of the poll conducted over Kitne Pratisht Bhartiye Salman-Ayesha Takia starrer Wanted dekhne jayenge, aur kitne Shahid-Rani starrer Dil Bole Hadippa? (What percentage of Indians would like to watch Wanted over Dil Bole Hadippa?)

After all said and done, so far, Salman we hope- Jitne pratisht Bhartiye aapki film dekhe, utne pratisht usse pasand karen! (The percentage of people watching the film should like the film as well).

Rani Mukherjee sizzles at Toronto Film Fest
By: Bollywood Mantra Staff on 16th September 2009

Rani Mukherjee in her well toned body looked extremely gorgeous as she walked the red carpet of Toronto International Film Festival for the World Premiere of Yash Raj Films' Dil Bole Hadippa on September 13. She attended the fest with debutante director, Anurag Singh. The film screened at the fest had been viewed by 2000 people and received a good response.

Rani and Anurag spend almost an hour after the screening meeting, signing autographs and taking pictures with overjoyed fans. Yash Raj ensured the Rani and Shahid's starrer ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ will leave a mark at the film festival on looking at its colorful and highly energized theme. Around 20 Bhangra dancers grooved Hadippa.

Anurag Singh says ''It's nothing short of a life changing experience to be invited to such a prestigious festival for your first film''

Rani Mukherjee says ''HADIPPA is a film to be enjoyed with your family while having your popcorn and cola, and dancing on the seats all at the same time... it's a film that reinforces the belief that if you have a dream and the desire... you will go to any length to achieve it''

The film is slated to release on 18th September.

Rakhi Sawant’s skin show invites trouble
By: Bollywood Mantra Staff on 16th September 2009

‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ promo did not go well with the moral police and they raised objection not on Rani’s bikini show but Rakhi Sawant and Sheryln Chopra’s skin show. The Censor Board has issued an U/A certificate for its adult content.

Yash Raj production that is known to make films for family watch-out this time run through a hard time in convincing the censor board. Vinayak Azad, Regional Officer Censor Board said that Dil Bole Hadippa has not been passed by the censor board due to Rakhi’s hot dance number and Sheryln’s sexy outfit. He added that the film does not have an vulgar scene.

However, Sherlyn Chopra blamed designer Manish Malhotra for dressing her sexily, she is playing a super model in the film.

‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is set to release this Friday, 18 September.

Rani rules Toronto Red Carpet

Posted on September 16th, 2009 in Bollywood News By Eugene Desiree

Mumbai: With her newly toned sexy body and oppmh Rani Mukherji has made a comeback, which can be ignored. Rani is not only making fans crazy in India but the Bollywood beauty was in Toronto, when she made every single head turn.

Rani even surpassed celebrity entries like George Clooney. Rani attended the gala event for Dil Bole Hadippa. Rani came in with a group of Bhangra dancers.

Rani wore a gown and a caucasian journalist Mary Allen says “Rani looks good in anything she wears. I wore a sari for everytime I’ve seen Rani, in a movie, wearing a sari, I thought how gorgeous Indian women look wearing a sari.”

There were noise of ‘Our Dil Bole Hadippa’ and ‘We love you Rani’.

Rani cheered all saying “Toronto, I have heard, is a city full of people who love all kinds of movies. Yet our film is a masala, commercial film. And to be featured in as a gala event is a very big honour.”

Sherlyn and Rakhi too sexy for kids

Kids can’t watch them without parental guidance
By ApunKaChoice

The sexy sirens in bikini tops and tiny cholis have certainly not escaped the notice of Censor Board which has given the upcoming Yashraj Films presentation Dil Bole Hadippa a U/A certificate because of some explicit skin show by Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant.

The movie, starring Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles, has Sherlyn playing a skimpily clad supermodel trying to lure Shahid. Rakhi plays Shanno Amritsari, a desi bombshell who shakes her booty for a dance company.

Though director Anurag Singh and producer Aditya Chopra wanted a U certificate, the Censor Board gave it a U/A certificate, which will doubtlessly restrict the viewing of the film by some margin.

According to the board’s regional officer, the U/A certificate was given due to Sherlyn and Rakhi’s short clothes and also an intimate scene shot on Sherlyn.

Sherlyn says it’s not her fault if she looks “effortlessly sensuous” in the clothes given by Manish Malhotra.

What do the certificates mean?

U - Unrestricted Public Exhibition, given to films suitable for 'family viewing'.

U/A - Unrestricted Public Exhibition but with parental guidance for children below 12 years

'Dil Bole Hadippa!' is high on entertainment: Shahid Kapur

Shahid Kapur speaks to us about his upcoming film, 'Dil Bole Hadippa'. The movie will release on September 18.

Q. Tell us about the title - 'Dil Bole Hadippa!'

Shahid: 'DBH' is a very entertaining and fun film. "Hadippa" is an expressions we use, when we are happy or when we are in a celebratory mood. It also stands for Punjab. There is a lot of Punjab in the film. Last but not the least, the words personifies our director Anurag Singh, who is pretty Hadippa in every way. He looks at everything in a positive way.

Q. What was your initial reaction to the script?

Shahid: As an actor, I am trying my hand at everything. I am still at a stage, when I am discovering different sides to myself. My character in the movie is a cricketer, which is something I have not done before. I have not attempted this kind of movie before. It is new for me. The script is unique in a certain way. Another plus point is working with Yash Raj Films and Rani.

Q. Tell us about your character Rohan.

Shahid: Rohan is a straight forward person. He prefers to be quiet but has lot of presence as he knows what he is doing. He is very strict on the field. I think Rohan has two sides to him. Outside the field he is more relaxed, but on the field he is very professional.

Q. How was it working with Rani?

Shahid: I kept telling Rani throughout the making of the movie: "Rani, I am your fan. I still don't believe, I am doing a film with you." She used to get irritated. She had to ask me to behave like a hero. I learned a lot working with her. She is so focused and I really respect that in anybody. I had a fantastic time working with her.

Q. Your comments on Rani playing a Sardarji.

Shahid: Rani (Veer) has an interesting character. She plays a boy and the interaction of Veer with Rohan (Shahid) is hilarious. I was very confident about Rani playing Veer because she has done some brilliant work in the past.

Q. Your experience of shooting in Punjab.

Shahid: This is my second film in Punjab. I love shooting in Punjab. I love Chandigarh. I had a lot of fun. I feel very comfortable when i am in the city.

Q. Which character do you like more - Veer or Veera?

Shahid: I think Veer-Rohan are extremely funny together. It is very fresh and different. It was a guy to guy interaction. It was really nice to have that kind of interaction with Rani.

Q. Tell us about the music of 'Dil Bole Hadippa'.

Shahid: Pritam has become one of my favourite music directors. I have had fun working with him. He is a big surprise packet. He gave brilliant music for my last film. With 'Dil Bole Hadippa', Pritam has done an outstanding job with Punjabi Bhangra. The album has some very interesting tracks like "Dil Bole Hadippa", "Disco Wale", and some fun lyrics.

Q. Tell us about working with Sherlyn Chopra.

Shahid: We didn't have too much to do together. She seemed like a really nice girl.

Q. How about Rakhi Sawant?

Shahid: Rakhi is an entertainer on the set and off it. She is always upto some masti. I had very little to do with her, but it was nice working with her.

Q. What does "Hadippa" means to you?

Shahid: It means being happy, Punjab, Bhangra & chak de fatte!

Q. How was the experience of working with YRF?

Shahid: Yash Raj Films is an extremely professional organisation. The best thing about YRF is that it is headed by Aditya Chopra. He understands the creative part and it is a lot easier to communicate with him.

Q. What should the audience expect from 'DBH'?

Shahid: 'Dil Bole Hadippa!' is high on entertainment. It is a colourful film. Go watch the movie and enjoy!

Marriage rumours affecting my career: Rani Mukherji

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherji who is returning to the big screen after an year with 'Dil Bole Hadippa' says that rumours about her getting married have started to affect her career.

These rumours have been going on for three years and they have now started affecting my career. Lot of filmmakers who approach me for roles start by asking whether I am getting married. They have apprehensions whether I can commit myself to their project," Rani said.

The 31-year-old actress said the baseless stories about her are getting stretched too far.
"I can't be getting married to so many men for the last three years," said Rani talking about her alleged link ups including the rumour about her marriage to filmmaker Aditya Chopra.

"I am the only daughter of my parents. When I get married, it will be announced publicly and will take place with pomp," Rani said. The actress recalled that three years ago when the rumours about her marriage started, her father had to come on television to clarify.
"No father should be put through such misery. Despite clarifications, the rumours have continued. You have to believe what I am saying. But, if you still continue spreading stories about me, I cant stop you," Rani said.

Rani also admitted that she lacks the PR skills which forms a major part of her profession and that results in speculative stories about her. "It is a shortcoming that I have as I don't like to talk about my daily life. The media has taken advantage of my silence and communicated to my fans very wrongly," she said.

The actress said that the "most laughable" rumour was that she had left her posh Juhu bungalow because it had brought her bad luck and has moved back to her old flat at Andheri. "I have made the new house for my family from my hard work, sweat and blood. My house is my temple and how can I run away from it. I am being made to look like an insecure person which I am not," she said.

Talking about her latest venture, 'Dil Bole Haddipa', Rani said that the movie came to her at the right time when she got a feedback that she was crying too much on screen doing serious roles. Rani was last seen in 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic' in 2008, and is back with another Yashraj film after an year.

When asked about the fascination with the production house Rani said, "I can do two three films at a time if there are great roles. I don't want to prove anything to my detractors that I work only in Yash Raj films. If Yash Raj offers me challenging roles, I will take up those projects," she said.

Sherlyn Chopra - Rani Mukherjee's Big Fan

Hot desi girl Sherlyn Chopra has become a big fan of Rani Mukhejee after working with her on Dil Bole Hadippa. "She is just like my Guruji," she says,"I was initially dumbstruck, thinking What should I call her, Rani, Rani mam, Raniji? Then I mustered up a little courage and said Hi Raniji. She was so chilled out and didn't make me feel that she was Rani Mukerji, the actress. She took a keen interest in my acting, in my close up shots and would give me advice. That used to get me motivated."

Sherlyn is excited by the release of the new movie and believes it will provide the spur that her film career deserves. "It's a God sent offer," she proclaims, "Call it lack of modesty or whatever, I feel it's just the beginning. I've got to work harder and smarter to get to the place where I truly belong."

Sherlyn is currently working on her third album after the success of Outrageous and Dard-e-Sherlyn and has also been tipped for a spot in Big Boss 3. As frank as always, she is convinced that her recent bust enhancement has helped to improve her confidence and career prospects. "Earlier, I felt like a boy," she explains, "But not anymore."

Eagerly awaiting 'Wanted', 'Dil Bole Hadippa'

- By Taran Adarsh, September 16, 2009 - 08:11 IST

It's the lull before the storm. The weekend gone by witnessed a decline in business, with BAABARR, the sole new release in U.K., faring very poorly. Everyone's hoping that WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA would bail out the industry.

One film cannot make or break my career: Rani Mukherjee
17 Sep, 2009 12:00

Rani kept away from media for long so seeing her all toned and chiselled definitely took our breath away. The actress had never looked hotter and if the hotness quotient has risen, so has her calling a spade a spade attitude. Renuka Vyavahare caught up with Rani Mukherjee before the release of her much awaited film Dil Bole Hadippa to know what the Queen bee has been upto all this while!

Men always feel your sex appeal lies in your hazel eyes and husky voice. Will it now shift to your body post Dil Bole Hadippa?
Rani Mukherjee:
If my sex appeal is increasing, it’s good for me. Initially I had planned the weight loss for my character. I play a young Punjabi boy who is an athlete (Veer) in DBH so had to look fit. I couldn’t be running as a boy on big screen with things jiggling here and there (smiles). I started yoga, weight training. Trained for Cricket for six months, ate right and the end result was fantastic. When everyone saw me after I toned my body they suggested I do a video.

Your bikini top and toned midriff has been making news.
Rani Mukherjee:
Even if you are not thin, you can manage to look thin by wearing clothes that make you look slimmer but when you have to show off your arms, legs and midriff you have to have a toned body. When Manish Malhotra gave me a go ahead only then did I wear what I have worn.

You’ve overshadowed Shahid Kapoor in the remix version of Dil Bole Hadippa.
Rani Mukherjee:
Shahid told me he was finally working with an actress who could dance. I am a great dancer, so is Shahid so we complemented each other.

Which of the two characters you enjoyed playing more - Veer (male) or Veera (female)?
Rani Mukherjee:
Veer. I am playing a boy for the first time in a film. The best part about it was the male crew dropped their guard and became all pally with me. Worst part is that I had to use glue and stick the beard on my face.

Your look seems a lot like Babli from Bunty Aur Babli?
Rani Mukherjee:
Other than the fact that both Veera and Babli come from Punjab and are small town girls with big dreams nothing is similar between the two.

Are you banking on Dil Bole Hadippa?
Rani Mukherjee:
I am not really banking on Dil Bole Hadippa. For an actor like me, a film cannot make or break my career. But everyone needs a hit and I need one too.

You’ve danced with Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra.
Both are sweet girls and are good actors!

Bollywood box-office report of the week

September 16, 2009 12:18:10 PM IST
Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

Finally, after a month of drought, with hardly any big releases, things are getting interesting as this Friday will see an interesting clash between two biggies; Yash Raj Films Pvt. Ltd.'s DIL BOLE HADIPPA and S.K. Films Enterprises' WANTED. Given the unique and sustained promos, with emphasis on Salman's action image and care-a-damn attitude, WANTED seems to hold the edge. But DIL BOLE HADIPPA too is backing on Shahid Kapoor's new image of a reliable solo bet at the box-office and its theme of the passion of India, cricket. And so it seems to be a double treat for the audience. Both WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA will reap the benefit of an almost five day weekend with holidays in many parts of the country on Friday (Jumat-ul-Vida) and in Uttar Pradesh (Agrasen Jayanti) on Saturday, not to forget the Eid holidays on Monday/Tuesday.

Last Friday's multiple releases, BAABARR, VAADA RAHA ... I PROMISE, RUSLAAN and AAMRAS have disappointed collectively, barring to an extent VAADA RAHA... I PROMISE (with dull collections) and BAABARR (at single screens of North India). But with the double Tsunami in the form of WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA, whatever little hopes the makers of VAADA RAHA and BAABARR harbour will disappear.

Shahid-Rani come out to announce their link-up!
Updated on Thursday, September 17, 2009, 09:37 IST
Ankita Shukla and Bhavna Khullar

New Delhi: Well, how often have you seen a much under scrutiny onscreen (alleged off screen) couple coming out all in the open with their link-up? Not often right... but Wednesday evening, Delhi experienced an unexpected bout of warmth, thanks to two warm people- Shahid Kapur and Rani Mukerji, who stirred quite a few passions by announcing their tongue-in-cheek link-up! The duo, who was in the capital for the promotion of their much awaited flick `Dil Bole Hadippa`, made sure that they grabbed all the eyeballs for their witty one liners.

Hand-in-hand and eyes-into-eyes, the adorable co-stars gave a much-required peep into their apparent camaraderie, leaving behind all the apprehensions about their ‘supposed’ affairs. Shahid and Rani announced with an aplomb, what no one was expecting, "We announce our link-up, so it`s pretty much official now,” said the couple jokingly.

While talking to the media about `Dil Bole Hadippa`, both Shahid and Rani agreed that it`s a very special film and is a complete family entertainer. "It`s a fun film, high on entertainment and is perfect for the ongoing festive season,” said Shahid. While Rani said that one must go and catch the flick as it is a complete paisa vasool.

Glowing at the response that the flick garnered at the prestigious `Toronto International Film Festival`, Rani said, "It was unbelievable and overwhelming. Though I was not expecting it because it`s a different atmosphere there and they don`t really accept commercial films. But it truly felt like watching the film at a Delhi theatre."

Without missing out on the opportunity to appreciate Rani`s talent and beauty, F(Sh)ahid insisted, "Rani is a hugely intelligent actor and has completely outdone herself in `Dil Bole Hadippa`. With two of us together, people are surely going to enjoy a new experiment."

With their film all set to release this Friday, Shahid and Rani looked all charged up in their `Hadippa` mode as they used the term umpteen number of times, declaring `Hadippa` to be their favourite gesture of happiness. And that’s not all, they even cajoled everyone present to repeat the term after them and experience its magic.

Rani and Shahid on the Making of Dil Bole Hadippa! BM

Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor share their experience with the film Dil Bole Hadippa! After playing the role of a male cricket player, Rani mukherjee is very happy to be a girl, while Shahid is now eager to show off his lighter side in his first YashRaj film

RANI MUKHERJEE

Bollywood’s former reigning queen finally breaks her year-long sabbatical with Dil Bole Hadippa! which releases in the UAE today

What was your reaction when you read the script for the first time?

I was very excited. My fans kept telling me that ‘Rani you are crying too much in your movies so please laugh and make us laugh too’. So, when Dil Bole Hadippa! came my way, I just grabbed it. It’s a very entertaining film with a lot of comedy. I have played the role of a boy who is a cricketer. No other actress has played such a role. It took me just a second to decide that I could pull off this role.

Did you do any research for the boy’s role?

It’s strange, but the whole boy act came very naturally to me. Anjali, a former cricket player who represented India during the World Cup, gave me six months’ training on how to play cricket.

Shahid’s first reaction after seeing you dressed as a male...

He couldn’t recognise me. He started saying, ‘where’s my heroine, please get my heroine...’

Are you working only for YashRaj Films?

That’s a bad rumour. We actors are like beggars. We simply wait for great roles. Hence, I request producers and directors not to believe such rumours. I am free now to work with anyone who comes with a great script and role.

SHAHID KAPOOR

Shahid is now eager to show off his lighter side in his first YashRaj film

What should one expect from you in Dil Bole Hadippa!?

Just the opposite of Kaminey. Dil Bole Hadippa! is an out-and-out entertainment flick; everyone will enjoy it. It shows the lighter side of me.

About your character Rohan...

There are two sides to Rohan. On one side he’s this really serious work-oriented person and on the other, he’s this fun character doing the hadippa and enjoying himself.

How was it working with Rani as a girl and as a Sikh boy?

I kept complaining to Rani that there is no heroine in the film as I had to continuously do scenes with this Veer character! Rani has portrayed Veer brilliantly and there are scenes between Veer and Rohan that are hilarious. Romancing Rani was also fabulous.

Did you help her in cricket?

She had actually rehearsed six months before the shoot. I was so impressed with her cricketing skills. Initially I was worried as she had a Sardar character to portray and also play professional cricket. But when I saw her, I realised why she is such a fabulous actor.

Any memorable incident?

There’s a scene when Veer enters the boys’ changing room. They are all semi-naked and get nervous in front of Rani. But Rani and me keep telling them: ‘C’mon, we’re one of you guys!’
