Sizzling Beauties from Bollywood Undoubtedly the glamour quotient of Bollywood is amplified with the presence of the ravishing beauties. Bollywood actresses simply enthrall the audience with their stunning persona and breathtaking performances. Who can forget the mesmerizing Madhuri, the reticent yet immensely talented Rani, the alluring and charming Aishwarya or the captivating Katrina? These dreamgirls add a different dimension to the ‘glammometer’ of Bollywood. Bollywood produces the highest number of films among all the film industries in the world. The overseas market has expanded in the recent years. The heartthrobs of Bollywood have become household names. Think of Aishwarya Rai. This former Miss World is here to create waves, not ripples. Her potential has been recognized by the foreign directors who are ready to cast the ‘Bacchan bahu’ in some of the most prestigious international projects. Till date she has given some memorable performances in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Provoked. When one talks about glamour, one cannot forget the ultimate diva Sushmita Sen who lives life in her own terms. This bundle of talent is extremely selective about her projects but definitely creates a larger impact. This former Miss Universe and a contemporary of Aishwarya Rai is known more for her meaningful, meaty and often women-centric roles. When one starts talking about the bandwagon of Bollywood beauties, one cannot forget to mention Rani Mukherjee. Her brilliant performance in Black till date is etched in the memory of the audience. A perfectionist by nature, she truly keeps to the meaning of her name which literally means the queen. Apart from Aishwarya, another former Miss World is also creating a lot of stir and buzz. Priyanka Chopra is one of the young Bollywood actresses who have the privilege of working with some of the most brilliant and seasoned actors of Bollywood. This Bollywood actress has worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Kahn and Hrithik Roshan. Her performances have captured the mind of the audience. Think about the Jab We Met girl who has almost immortalize the character of Geet. Kareena Kapoor has a strong legacy which starts with her great-grandfather, the talented Prithviraj Kapoor. Today she is rated among the top stars of Bollywood. Her charming bubbly act in her latest movie has earned her rave reviews both from the critics and the audience. Vidya Balan is probably new in the long list of Bollywood actresses, but in no way looks like a newcomer in her performances. She too believes in the substance of the role and is known for her selective projects. Her beauty has often been compared with the timeless classic beauty of women and she has made a lot of difference from her very first performance in Parineeta. Cheerful yet immensely talented Preity Zinta is not to be forgotten among the Bollywood actresses. The sensational Deepika Padukone is a new joinee in the Bollywood bandwagon. However her debut with Shah Rukh Khan has definitely created a stir. She has the talent and she is here to stay. A Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu has changed the face of women with her performance in Jism. Her rocking performance in a number of prestigious projects has made her a household name. To know more about these divas you simply have to log on to bollywood-actress.info which is the best possible place to gather information about these beautiful women. from a person's blog who met Rani at TIFF : ====================== Oye Bhool Fikraa Hai Jigraa, To Sang Mere Bol Hadippa! Anita (wasabi_girl1) wrote, @ 2009-09-13 23:34:00 My day at TIFF was wonderful! Not only did I get to see Dil Bole Hadippa WAAAAY ahead of time, I even talked to Rani Mukherjee. Er...talked AT Rani Mukherjee. Or, um, well...more like YELLED AT Rani Mukherjee. So, when my sister plazmah and I showed up at the Roy Thompson Hall, we vaguely heard the sound of dhol beats. We were like, wtf? What's going on? So we decided to check it out. There was a small crowd of people milling around some Punjabi dancers behind a guard rail. As we reached closer, my sister told me that Rani Mukherjee was RIGHT THERE. I was shocked, but as I got near to the crowd I heard her, even if I couldn't see her yet. Yes, Rani has that very distinct voice and so I heard her before I saw her. Plus, she's kinda short, so it was hard to see her at first, lol. When I did finally see her...wow. She's gorgeous! She had this amazing purple strapless dress on, her hair was done up and her eyes, jeez, her EYES. You know how incredible her eyes look on the big screen? That's nothing compared to how they look in real life. They're so striking! I pushed my way through the crowds of people, determined to get an autographed. I pretty much shoved the piece of paper I had been carrying in my purse at her and she signed it in a hurry. When she was done, she kind of held it up, not knowing who had given it to her, but I made sure that I got it back, because I had pushed and fought just to get that much! Afterward, I told my sister that we should get onto the opposite side of the railing area, because she had yet to walk past there yet and she probably would eventually. Since no one was really standing there yet, that meant we would be in the front when she walked by. How right I was! :) That's a video of her walking over our way. She got even closer than that. I kid you not, I was less than an inch away from Rani Mukherjee. She stopped RIGHT IN FRONT of me and my sister. She had been signing an autograph and got some marker on her finger, so she asked the helpers around her to get her a tissue. She stood there in front of me wiping it off. :P In our excitement, Smi and I incessantly shouted "Rani, can we please get a picture!" over and over again, but she either had no clue what we were saying (I admit, we were loud and so was everyone else) or she no longer had time for pictures, because she quickly walked by without taking anymore pictures and only signed more autographs. But regardless, it was SO COOL to be that close to her. And even if she didn't take a picture with us, she did get yelled at by us at a very close distance. ;) And I do recall that she did say "hi everyone, okay, thank you" when we screamed at her, so that's, like, half a conversation. It's just the kind of conversation where the other person isn't fully listening. Once we were inside, she and the director Anurag Singh made short little speeches. Rani even said she was getting a little emotional due to all of the love we were showing her. :) It was awesome to see her, she's really sweet and even better in real life. And she seemed genuinely thrilled at how excited the audience was. |

Rani happy with Toronto response to 'Dil Bole Hadippa' Actress Rani Mukherjee, who is returning to the big screen after a gap of one year, is over the moon with the positive response to her upcoming movie 'Dil Bole Hadippa' at the ongoing Toronto film festival. The actress, whose last film 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic' in 2008 failed to create any magic at the box office, has now pinned her hopes on 'Haddipa' and says that audience response at the festival was "very very comforting". "People seem to love the movie. It was very very comforting. I am really happy and would like to thank the people of Canada," Rani, who returned here after attending the world premiere of the movie, said at a press conference in London. The actress is playing the role of a man for the first time in her career in 'Dil Bole Hadippa', which stars Shahid Kapoor as a cricket coach. "For the first time I was playing the role of a man, that also of a Sardar. It came naturally to me. I had a lot of Sardar friends in school. I picked up a lot from them.” Rani said she enjoyed working with Shahid Kapoor, whom she described as "good looking, charming and sincere." And added that "Shahid has a long way to go." The actress, who considers herself a "comedian in real life" said, "It is important that you do good roles. It is important to be happy and I did that." Rani plays a cricket enthusiast Veer Pratap Singh in the movie but she confessed that "it was difficult learning to play cricket, particularly the physical toughness." Despite her love for the game, the actress has no plans to become an IPL team owner. "I am not that rich to buy an IPL team. I still have a long way to go." Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Anurag Singh, the film revolves around Veera (Rani Mukherjee), who is a fine-cricketer of a girl who lives in a small village but dreams in 70mm. She works in a local theatre group but dreams of playing cricket in the big league, while Rohan (Shahid Kapoor) is an accomplished captain of a county cricket team in England. Rohan returns to India to captain his father's cricket team which has been losing consecutively for the last 8 years. In a village where girls don't play cricket, Veera has to put on a turban and beard and become a man to fulfil her dreams. Set wholly in rural Punjab, the film also stars Sherlyn Chopra, Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil and Rakhi Sawant. 'Dil Bole Hadippa' is slated to release on September 18. |

'Rani played square cut perfectly' Jeevan Prakash Sharma, NDTVMovies.com Tuesday, September 15, 2009 (Delhi) Actress Rani Mukherjee is in news these days for her portrayal of a cricketer in the upcoming movie Dil Bole Hadippa. But no one knows that Rani had a tough time learning the tricks of the gentleman's game. Former Indian cricketer, Anjali Pandharkar, who taught Rani how to play cricket can't stop praising the actress. When asked how tough it was for her to train Rani she said, "Before I trained her, Rani had never even held a bat ever in her life. So, you can imagine how difficult it would have been for me to teach her. It was a big challenge, but the best part is that Rani has a good grasping power and she has been a very obedient student." Asked if she ever lost her cool while teaching Rani, Anjali said: "Had I lost my cool, it would have given an adverse impact on her training. So, I kept motivating her to learn new shots." Talking further about how her training sessions Anjali said: "Rani is either batting or fielding in the whole movie. So, I trained her to bat and field. In the first few weeks she did shadow practice in which she hit bats in air without any ball. After some time she did the same with static ball. She took almost six months to learn all this. In fact, one day I took her to a Ranji Trophy match in Mumbai so that she could get the feel of the game. She spent the whole day there. The whole experience was very encouraging for her." Anjali also revealed that Rani Mukherjee surprised her by playing the square cut shot to perfection. "The square cut is a very difficult shot for any player. But Rani played the shot with perfection." Asked if Rani is trained to the extent that she could join Indian Women's Cricket team Anjali said, "She still needs a lot of practice for that. In fact, I invited her for the selection process for the State Cricket Team in Mumbai." Summing up the whole experience, Anjali said, "I have never taught someone who never held a bat ever in her life. So, it was a learning experience for me as well. Now with all these efforts I hope the film should do well." |

Both Sophie and Rani wore black dresses (or in Rani’s case: a sweater being passed off for a dress) with black sandals. This round we’ll have to give to Ms. Sophie and she wins it by a narrow margin.(Of the hemline, but of course!) Posted Image http://www.highheelconfidential.com/ |

I look younger than Shahid: Rani ROSHNI MUKHERJEE , TNN 16 September 2009, 12:00am IST Rani Mukerji is all set to bowl her audience over with her sizzling avatar. She reveals the secret to her toned look and settles rumours on her bikini act... You sure kept the audience waiting for long... Well, it hasn’t been long. Soon after my last film, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, I got busy with Dil Bole Hadippa. Since I was playing a cricketer, I had to train in the game for six months before shooting. In fact, Dil Bole... was ready by March, but the multiplex strike posed a hurdle. In a way, I see it as a boon as the film is now set for release on Mahalaya, an auspicious day. I hope and pray that it brings luck. So, you see, I’ve been working all through. I seriously need a break now. And how essential is it for you, as an actor, to break the stereotype and spring back in a new avatar? As an actor, it’s very important to reinvent myself. This time around, the script had all the scope. It’s probably the first time that a heroine will be playing a cricketer. And definitely, this is the first time that I play a Sardar boy. I didn’t want people to say that she essayed the role of a cricketer just for the heck of it. Hence, I toned my body to look like a cricketer. By the end of it all, my body had toned so beautifully that it was suggested I flaunt my body in the music video. How difficult was attaining this toned look? I was into yoga and weight training. I zipped my mouth. It’s been long since I have gorged on machher jhol and rosogolla. Frankly, I wanted to look the part and get my cricket right. Earlier, I wasn’t too much into the game. But thanks to Dil Bole..., I’ve started enjoying the game much more and stopped annoying my dad with the silly cricketing questions that I used to ask. Any cricketing favourites? Sachin Tendulkar is my all-time favourite. Apart from the new look in this film, your supposed bikini act is also generating a lot of buzz... Sorry to disappoint you but I’ve not sported a bikini in this film. Instead I’ve worn a salwar with a bikini top. Rani has always been termed sweet, bubbly, chirpy, warm but seldom have you been called sizzling or hot. Will Dil Bole...change all of that? If people start finding me hot, it will be for the better. And certainly, I take it as a compliment. Bollywood seems to have got over older heroines being paired opposite young heroes... Shahid and me are probably the same age. It’s just that he started late and I entered the industry at 17. But let me tell you that I look younger than him (laughs). Now that Bipasha has stepped into Tollywood, when do we get to see you in a Bengali venture? I want to do something worth my while. Are the directors listening? |

Sherlyn adores Rani TNN 16 September 2009, 12:00am IST Sex Kitten Sherlyn Chopra is completely in awe of Bollywood queen Rani Mukerji. “What can I say about Rani! She is just like Guruji,” purrs Sherlyn who has just finished work on Dil Bole Hadippa! with the senior actress. “I initially was dumbstruck, what should I call her, Rani, Rani mam, Raniji? Then I mustered a little courage and said “Hi Raniji.” She was so chilled out and didn’t make me feel that she was Rani Mukerji, the actress. She behaved just like a fellow actor who was enjoying. She used to take keen interest in my acting, in my close up shots. She would keep advising, Sherlyn you could do better. And that used to get me motivated.’’ Told ya, Rani has got a heart of gold. |

Rani's campaign for Hadippa: PR means Push Relentlessly? Akanksha Banerji / CNN-IBN London: Actor Rani Mukherjee is on a whirlwind promotional trip for her latest film Dil Bole Hadippa, which brings her back to the big screen after forgettable flicks in the recent past. Dil Bole Hadippa premiered at the Toronto international film festival on Sunday and will release this week. While her co-star in Dil Bole Hadippa, Shahid Kapoor is busy promoting the film back home, Rani Mukherjee is doing the same abroad. Pleased with the response after the world premiere of Dil Bole Hadippa at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, the actress made a quick stopover in London to promote the film before its release this week. In the film, Rani plays Veera, a girl who pretends to be a man so that she can play cricket. While the plot is similar to the 2006 American comedy, She’s The Man where actor Amanda Bynes pretends to be a boy to be part of an all boy's soccer team, Rani denies any similarities. Rani categorically denied any inspiration or copying of the Hollywood flick, saying that the similarities in the plot are incidental and accidental. The actress lost weight for a well-toned, athletic look and also took cricket coaching for the role. She says the Punjabi accent wasn’t tough and playing a man was simple too. Standing like a boy, keeping legs apart all the while was the tough part, admits Rani. The film will feature reality-TV star Rakhi Sawant in an item song. |

Rani Mukherjee on Jiggling By Andrew Stephenson - BollySpice.com 15 Sep 2009 At a press conference in London on her way back from Toronto, Dil Bole Hadippa's Rani Mukherjee talked about the problems she faced acting as a boy for the movie. "I had to train hard for six months, lose weight and tone my body," she said, "Because I did not want anything jiggling about on the field. I did yoga and weights alternately and lost about seven kilos. I did two hours of cricket training every day, that was drilling but I guess that is what charges me as an actor because for me it's important that every day when I go for work there is something new and exciting." What did she find was the big difference between being a man and a woman, she was asked. ";I had to stand with my legs apart - that's the difference," she replied. The actress, whose career has been reborn through the movie, would now like to try some new things, including an action movie. "I would love to do something different from what I've been doing," she confirmed, "I would love to do an action film because it is something I've never done." Rani stole the show at the Toronto International Film Festival where Dil Bole Hadippa was the first mainstream masala movie to have its world premiere at the festival. She walked the red carpet, turning heads in synch as she drifted by in a purple strapless gown. "Toronto, I have heard, is a city full of people who love all kinds of movies," she said. "Yet our film is a masala commercial film. And to be featured in a gala event such as this is a very big honour." |

Filmi festival fun September 15th, 2009 | Author: Mariellen Well, the highlight of the Toronto International Film Festival for me, so far, was meeting Rani Mukherjee. I attended a press conference, the red carpet for the film and the film itself — Dil Bole Hadippa. I was able to interview Rani twice, very briefly, and I found her to be totally professional, very intelligent, engaging and absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. This woman has it all going on! She has beauty, brains, talent, personality, focus and professionalism. No wonder she is the Queen of Bollywood. I am deeply impressed with her, not just as a “filmi star” but as a human being. I also enjoyed the film, which is non-stop. It never flagged for a second. I liked the story, which is about a young woman who is a really good cricket player, living in a small town in the Punjab. She gets her chance to play for a real team, but has to disguise herself as a boy. Rani is fascinating to watch as a young man, and she clearly had a lot of fun playing this role. Of course, there’s a love story (hero is played by Shahid Kapoor, man can he dance), a rousing cricket match, and a message (or two…). Rani gives a very moving speech at the end of the match, and movie, about how there is never any applause for girls. I interviewed Rani about women’s roles in Indian cinema; and also about pressures on her, as a woman, in Bollywood; and about her yoga practice. You will have to read the story when it comes out in Asian Woman (Canada) Magazine. |

Rani’s Gameplan! 4 reasons why Bebo & Kat need to start worrying RIGHT NOW... http://www.masala.com/14876-ranis-gameplan?imgN=1 by Amrita Mukherjee Looks like Rani Mukherji is determined to give the much younger Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif a run for their money. Masala! reveals her gameplan... All new body Rani Mukherji not only set up a gym at home but spent hours in there with her trainer. She also took up yoga super seriously. Although she has not dropped to size zero like Bebo, she now has a body she can truly flaunt. And to think this is the same girl who looked pretty much rotund in her mini skirts in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai! Rani’s got herself a body at 30-plus that is every teeny bopper’s dream. Way to go! Wardrobe make-over From wearing designer shalwar suits, Rani’s changed to trendy maxis and shift dresses, skin tight jeans and corset tops. The actress, whose style sense was not something to write home about, has definitely got herself a new stylist and is keeping herself updated about what the latest IT girls are wearing. Sensible decision, Rani. Younger hero She’s all set to change the B’wood trend of a 40something hero romancing a 20something heroine. Rani’s acting with a much-younger Shahid and the age difference is not showing at all, if the promos are anything to go by. If Dil Bole Hadippa is a hit, then Rani can start the reverse trend and go on to work with Ranbir, Imran, Neil… What will the younger girls do then? Tough role Remember Hillary Swank playing a man in Boys Don’t Cry? Rani’s pushing the boundaries and doing just that in Dil Bole Hadippa. That too with comical overtones. Being a brilliant actress, she could well play the perfect Sikh. Better than Saif, Akshay, Ranbir and co... |

Rani on the run http://www.telegraphindia.com/1090916/jsp/...ry_11498810.jsp The revamped Rani Mukerji on the lull before the storm and why all the marriage talk is ‘outrageous’. You are looking smashing in the Dil Bole Hadippa! promos. Is the revamped Rani only for this film? Thank you! I did get fit for Dil Bole Hadippa! but now I want to stay like this for the other films also. Once you get on to a fitness regime and you start enjoying your look, then you can’t be anything but a fitness freak. This film really motivated my to get this new look of mine. It all started with me being offered the role of a cricketer and I wanted to look my part. I wanted to look like an athlete. If you are playing the role of a sportsperson you have to be very, very toned. And through this toning process, I discovered a new me. I am really enjoying myself now. But what about cricket? How did you prepare for that? I went through six months of training to learn the game. I practised and I practised and I practised. As a child I never played cricket. And so this was the first time I was actually playing the game. Naturally it took me some time. Is that why there has been no Rani Mukerji film for quite some time? Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was about a year back (it released on June 27, 2008). And I immediately started work on Dil Bole Hadippa!. It was a role that demanded a lot from me and it was important that I did give that much time to this role. I didn’t want people to come to the theatres and say that Rani hasn’t played cricket very well. It is a very integral part of the film. I am a really, really good cricketer in the film. For that I had to look natural as a cricketer and that preparation took a little time. But why didn’t you like cricket before? What sport interested you? Unfortunately, I didn’t like cricket at all. Had I been a fan, I am sure I would have picked up the game a lot earlier. Through this film I have now become a fan. The sport I have always liked is badminton because I like playing it a lot. But being from Calcutta, I love watching football. My dad is a very big fan. Now, I love cricket so much that I would love to play it. Whenever I get time, I watch the game on TV. I can now understand what the cricketers are doing (laughs)! You play a girl in the first half and then disguise yourself as a boy to get into the cricket team. So you are actually playing two characters... Yes, I do play two characters in the film. Veera is a girl from small-town Punjab who loves playing cricket and she believes if she can play for her pind, her pind will never lose. Her dream is to play cricket for a team. Veer, my other character, realises this dream for her. Rani mukerji with shahid kapur in Dil Bole Hadippa! A decade back Shahid Kapur did a Pepsi commercial with you, Shah Rukh and Kajol as a young boy. And now he is your leading man. How do you feel about this? It feels very nice because Shahid is a delight to work with. I have just discovered a great co-star in him. He is a good actor... he has grown from strength to strength with each film of his. I am looking forward to see how the audience reacts to our pair in the movie. We two had a ball working together. And what about Anurag Singh (making his second film after the 2007 Jimmy Sheirgill-Tanushree Dutta starrer Raqeeb)? He is really, really sweet! He is very media shy and that’s why you may not be able to see him. But he has worked very hard on the film. Yuva, Hum Tum, Veer-Zaara, Black, Bunty Aur Babli, Paheli... you ruled Bollywood in 2004-05. There’s been such a lull thereafter... Probably, it’s the lull before the storm. Probably. Whatever you can call it. Use your pen (laughs)! From my side, I can promise that I will give my best. But please persuade directors to come to me with challenging roles. If the roles have even a little bit of challenge for me, I can do three-four films a year. That would make your fans in Calcutta really happy... You know, for me, it’s really, really special that my movie is releasing on the day of Mahalaya (Sept 18). And I feel that it’s like a blessing from god... coming on a day when Ma is coming into our lives. I feel extremely, extremely privileged to have a release on that day. Do you plan to come to Calcutta during Durga Puja? I am coming on the 19th, the day after the release to check out the reaction of my fans in Calcutta to Dil Bole Hadippa!. Finally, your name has become synonymous with marriage rumours. Has that ever got to you? You know, the rumour has been there for the last three years now and honestly, it’s very, very disturbing. What they are portraying in front of my audience and my fans is a completely different Rani. Someone who is insecure, who is scared of admitting something so special in her life. That bothers me more than the rumours. I am a self-made person, I am a person who is extremely responsible and I am a person who loves my audiences more than anything in this world. They are of prime importance to me. If I ever decide to get married, I will first inform my audience because that is my responsibility. They have loved me, they have supported me, right from my first film. Something as important as marriage in my life, I will definitely let them know. Why should I hide it? It’s completely outrageous! It’s ridiculous! So many makers come to me with offers and they are like: “Rani, I hope you are not getting married.” I am like, are you crazy? Why would I get married? I am dying for somebody to offer me a great role. And marriage is not even on my mind. I don’t even have a partner. To get married, you need to be in love and you need to decide whether you want to spend the rest of your life with this person. Nothing of that sort is there. I think these people are jealous or I don’t know what but they keep spreading these rumours about me which is absolutely rubbish. |

Almost adult Dil Bole Haddipagets U/A certificate for Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra’s skimpy outfits KUNAL M SHAH Yash Raj Films, known for its clean romantic entertainers and their candy floss films, was extremely upbeat about Dil Bole Haddipa’s release. However, the film has got a U/A certificate and not the U certificate which they would have liked, as that would have enabled them to reach out to family audiences. The U/A has been given because they have two sexy sirens, Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant, doing what they do best — flaunting some serious skin. Vinayak Azad, Regional Officer Censor Board said, “The film has been given a U/A certificate due to Sherlyn's onscreen clothes and Rakhi Sawant's dance number.” When asked if there are any intimate scenes, he said, “There are no high-voltage intimate scenes and no kissing scenes as such. But it features one intimate scene with Sherlyn and the other problem is Rakhi’s clothes in the dance number.” Incidentally, both Rakhi and Sherlyn have painted the town red speaking about their roles in the YRF banner film, which stars Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. Sherlyn says, "Well, Manish Malhotra is to be blamed for that... He's dressed me in bikini tops and shorts which ooze effortless sensuality. And that's exactly what's expected of the super model that I play in the film |

Rani Mukherjee brings ‘Hadippa’ to London! [Posted by Desi Buzz] Posted Image One of Bollywood’s most-loved actresses, Rani Mukherjee, arrived in the UK on Monday 14th September for an exclusive press conference of her latest film, “Dil Bole Hadippa.” She came to London after attending the premiere show of the movie at Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday. The conversation, hosted by BBC Asian Network presenter, Bobby Friction, was one of the most frank, humorous and detailed discussions, offering an insight into Rani’s experiences of shooting for the film and playing a male character. Talking about the film at the press conference, Rani said “the film has all the things Bollywood has to offer including song, dance, emotion, drama, romance and comedy but me being a man is something new Bollywood has to offer. The subtle point of the film is if you dream and are passionate about what you want to be in life, you can go to any lengths to achieve that and that is what my character is about.” |

'Dil Bole Hadippa' is not woman-centric: Shahid Kapoor By indiaabroad Wednesday Sep 16 7:55 AM Mumbai, Sep 16 (IANS) The promos of 'Dil Bole Hadippa' are centred on Rani Mukerji, giving an impression that the film mainly tells her story, but Shahid Kapoor maintains that it's not a woman-centric film. 'Honestly, I don't think 'Dil Bole Hadippa' is a woman-oriented subject. Of course, Rani has a very, very important role in the film and when you see it you will realise yourself how both of us actually fit into the storyline,' Shahid told IANS. The actor, who had hectic schedules before and after the release of dark thriller 'Kaminey', is now busy promoting Anurag Singh's 'Dil Bole Hadippa'. But he admits that he could let down his hair more often during the shooting of '...Hadippa' when compared to Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Kaminey'. 'Seriously, 'Dil Bole Hadippa' is so contrasting to 'Kaminey'...in terms of genre, setting, performances, space, treatment and audiences. The film is very much in the space of the commercial genre. It is an out-and-out entertainer with a Punjabi background to it. Playing Rohan was not as challenging as enacting the role of Charlie or Guddu. After a 'Dhan Te Nan', it was a lot of fun to be indulging in some 'bhangra shangra'!' Shahid said. Made under the Yash Raj Films banner, 'Dil Bole Hadippa' also stars Anupam Kher, Rakhi Sawant and Vrajesh Hirjee. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Sunday and is set to hit screens in India Friday. Shahid, who will also be seen in Ken Ghosh's 'Chance Pe Dance', is happy to be playing a young lover boy. 'By god's grace I have been accepted by audiences in my romantic avtar; so why let that go? A movie like 'Kaminey' or a 'Dil Bole Hadippa' only helps further in getting a contrast. Your value as an actor is realised due to the contrast you bring in,' he said. 'Now look at 'Jab We Met'. I was an introvert there and the role was so different. Audiences gave me a thumbs up there and they did so for 'Kaminey' as well. But, frankly, after a point in time I don't want to start gauging audiences' reaction too much. Instead I wish to follow my instincts and give them what I feel could be a real value add,' Shahid said. Doesn't the actor in him now look out for only performance-based roles after 'Kaminey'? 'Honestly, I would love to do different kind of films. I can't be getting or doing 'Kaminey' all the time. To even think in that direction would be unfair. After all such a role can come to any actor may be once in a couple of years,' Shahid said. |

Five reasons to watch ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ 16 Sep, 2009 12:00 am ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES Yash Raj Films’ next grand release Dil Bole Hadippa releases September 18 th and in true YRF style is looking bright and vibrant with its fervent Punjabi flavour. After three weeks of low-key releases at the box-office (due to Ramzan and Shraadh period), Dil Bole Hadippa comes as a leash of fresh air for audiences starved of entertainment. The film recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received warm response from viewers there. We at Indiatimes Movies give your five good reasons to flock to the theatres near you to check out this film. Rani’s back in a sexy bikini top Rani Mukherjee has been away from the big screen since some time now. Her past releases like Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and Laaga Chunari Main Daag received cold response from audiences and she was just seen in special appearances or extended cameos in films like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Om Shanti Om and Saawariya . So Dil Bole Hadippa almost marks Rani Mukherjee’s grand comeback. Rani is looking all hip and happening sans all that puppy fat. What more? After donning the traditional look in several films, Rani is sporting a sexy bikini top in this film. Watching her sizzle in the screen will be a perfect paisa wasool. Contemporary chemistry After her regular pairing with Shah Rukh, Saif, Salman and Aamir, Rani has a fresh partner in Dil Bole Hadippa in the form of the hot and happening heartthrob Shahid Kapoor. While many suspected the pairing could go wrong because of their age difference, Rani and Shahid are looking great together. Rani’s new hot look and her youthful charm post the weight lose makes her onscreen chemistry with Shahid just perfect! The cricket connection While the film has all trademark Yash Chopra ingredients qualifying for a perfect family film, the basic plot of Dil Bole Hadippa revolves around a cricket match. They say Indians have two passions – films and cricket. And if you get both of them together what more can you ask for. Remember Lagaan? Dil Bole Hadippa could repeat history. Balle Balle boy This time it’s not just the men who would get to play the game. Rani Mukherjee has taken to the field and will be seen playing cricket but in the garb of a man... a Sardarjee. Her broken English and defensive patriotism makes her character all the more adorable. The music of the film is chartbuster material and with Rani Mukherjee grooving in songs like Disco Wale Khisko and Dil Bole Hadippa it’s a treat all the way. Adding to the oomph If you thought Rani Mukherjee playing a male reduces the feminine appeal of the film, think again. Dil Bole Hadippa has two sexy hotties Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant adding sufficient oomph. Both these so called item girls have full-fledged roles in this Yash Raj production and are looking smoking hot in their characters. |

Box-Office battle: Wanted v/s Dil Bole Hadippa this Friday 15 Sep, 2009 05:35 pm ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES After 3 weeks of back to back flop films, the box-office will finally see two big releases this Friday. Both, Salman Khan’s Wanted and Rani Mukherjee’s Dil Bole Hadippa are big in their own respect. Salman Khan has been going out of his way to promote Wanted like no other film. This remake of the Telugu blockbuster hit Pokiri has Salman Khan in a hardcore action role, something that he hasn’t done in a long long time. The hype on the film is considerably high and the opening week collections should be nothing short of the biggest amongst the year. Yash Raj Film’s Dil Bole Hadippa starring Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles is equally hot property. Rani Mukherjee’s diverse look from the Punjabi munda to the sexy-hot babe in bikini top has kept the film in constant public glare. While the clash is big enough, chances are both the films would survive strongly at the box-office. The audiences haven’t seen a decent film in the past 3 weeks and should lap up both these releases. Talking about business of the week gone by, the box-office hasn’t shown any smiley signs. Bobby Deol – Kangana Ranaut starrer Vaada Raha came and left without any trace due to zilch promotions. Other flicks like Aamras, Ruslaan and the English films The Unforgettable and I Can’t Think Straight too couldn’t gain any audience. Comparatively Baabarr worked better at single screens especially in North India where the story of the film is set. The business at multiplexes is clearly dull though. |

Rani happy with Toronto response to 'Dil Bole Hadippa' -A +AFontAgencies Posted: Sep 15, 2009 at 1513 hrs IST PrintEmailNewsletterPost CommentsRSS Related Articles Actress Rani Mukherjee, who is returning to the big screen after a gap of one year, is over the moon with the positive response to her upcoming movie 'Dil Bole Hadippa' at the ongoing Toronto film festival. |
