Ekta-Rani patch up on phone

It just took a phone call from Rani Mukerji's side to Ekta Kapoor to iron out the differences that had crept up between the two after Rani refused Ekta's Dayaan. Let truth prevail -- Rani had no time to do the film and informed the producer about the same but someone from her camp played naughty and leaked the story to the press portrayed Rani as the one who had the audacity to refuse Ekta's production. Well Rani and Ekta have spoken about the controversy in private. Rani in fact made the first move to call Ekta and ask her if she was angry on the actress. Ekta laughed it off and Rani promised to do a new project with the soap queen. She is currently reading the film's script. Looks like everything's back to normal folks!

Look whos changing - Rani Mukerji 1/3

https://www.filmfare.com/articles/look-whos-changing-rani-mukerji-13-2503.html

Heres taking a look at Rani Mukerjis fashion statements that have evolved over the years. Filmfare showcases the divas style quotient

Rani Mukerji in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat

Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997)
Role Call: Middle-class girl
This was Ranis debut film. As a middle-class girl, she appeared raw and unpolished. Her harsh make-up too did nothing for her although her performance was noticed

Rani in Ghulam

Ghulam (1998)
Role Call: Rich spoilt girl
Rani played a rich and bratty girl in this superhit. She looked tantalising enough for Aamir Khan to proposition Aati kya Khandala A marked improvement from Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. She looked sexy in a cute way. Good things sure come in small packages.

Rani in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
Role Call: Foreign returned student
She got a complete Manish Malhotra/Karan Johar makeover in this blockbuster. Though she was playing a supporting role, audiences took notice of the svelte looking Tina Malhotra, the foreign returned daughter of the college principal. With glossy and straight locks, peppermint coloured outfits, Rani looked girlish and glam. Her sartorial style was the stuff of campus dreams.

Rani in Hello Brother

Hello Brother (1999)
Role Call: Boisterous chawl resident
As the tomboyish girl residing in a chawl, Rani was one of the boys in this film. With her boisterous disposition she carried off the sportswear-inspired look effortlessly. She even managed to look taller with chunky platforms.

Rani in Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega

Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000)
Role Call: Girl in coma
She was in coma for most part of the film. So obviously she wore clothes worn by patients. But then what the heck are flashbacks for? There she was dressed like a heroine. And how can you forget both Preity Zinta and Rani dancing in fluffy yellow towels to Piya piya. The precursor to Ranbir Kapoors towel-dropping act in Saawariya?

Rani in Hey Ram
Hey Ram (2000)
Role Call: Kamal Hassan's wife
In this period drama, where the plot centres on Indias Partition and Mahatma Gandhis assassination, Rani essayed the role of archaeologist Saket Rams wife. She played the Bengali housewife to the hilt and looked authentic in khadi sarees, puffed-sleeved blouses and a huge bindi. She pulled off the period look brilliantly.

Rani in Bichchoo

Bichchoo (2000)
Role Call: Bobby Deols warring neighbour
She may have not left much of an impression as Bobby Deols foul-mouthed neighbour yet the film was a hit. Her punky, grunge biker type styling did not do much for her either. To her disadvantage, she was a bit plump too.

Rani in Nayak

Nayak: The Real Hero (2001)
Role Call: Village belle
In a film about politics and corruption, Rani didnt have much to do. With Anil Kapoor playing the title role, she did her job of playing the impish village belle rather well. Dressed like a gaon ki gori with plaits, chunky bangles, neckpieces and mirrored ghagra cholis, she celebrated rustic glamour.

Look whos changing - Rani Mukerji 2/3

https://www.filmfare.com/articles/look-whos-changing-rani-mukerji-23-2564.html

Heres taking a look at Rani Mukerjis fashion statements that have evolved over the years. Filmfare showcases the divas style quotient

Rani in Saathiya

Saathiya (2002)
Role Call: Medical student
She was simple and real in this Mani Ratnam hit. As a medical college student and later as a sari-clad wife, Rani essayed the natural look with great ease.

Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002)Rani in Mujhse Dosti Karoge
Role Call: Kareena Kapoors best friend
Teamed as she was with style icon Kareena Kapoor, Rani was taking no chances. At least in terms of style. Flared pants, small jackets, full sleeved knit tops, her soft, understated look spoke of sophistication.

Rani in Chalte Chalte

Chalte Chalte (2003)
Role Call: Fashion designer
Post Saathiya, she had catapulted to the big league. Playing a successful fashion designer from a wealthy family, Ranis look was deliberately worked upon. It was a Mediterranean inspired one. Her hair was auburn, she sported a healthy tan, wore long skirts, with long boots. Not to forget those smoky eyes.

Yuva (2004)

Rani in Yuva

Role Call: Bengali housewife

By now Rani was a talent to reckon with. In Yuva she went Indian with a vengeance. She wore no make-up. Just that kohl in the eyes and who can forget those traditional cotton saris. Rani looked the typical Bengali housewife, married to Abhishek Bachchan in the film.

Rani in Hum Tum

Hum Tum (2004)
Role Call: Independent, no-nonsense girl who becomes a widow
One of Ranis most successful films, she portrayed two looks in it.
In the first portion, she was slightly tomboyish with short hair. In the second half, she sobered down to solid colours and dressed like an upper class girl living abroad. Her short hair became a style statement and her performance got her the Filmfare Best Actress Award.

Veer-Zaara (2004)Rani in Veer Zaara
Role Call: Pakistani lawyer
As Saamiya Siddiqui, a Pakistani lawyer, fighting for womens empowerment in Pakistan, Rani was dressed like a contemporary Pakistani lady. On the whole the look was sedate and conservative.

Rani in Black

Black (2005)
Role Call: Deaf and blind girl
Keeping in mind the surreal setting of Black and her challenged character, she was dressed in black, shapeless outfits with oversized goggles and flat shoes. This is possibly her most stark look and yet she gave an impressive performance, earning her the Filmfare Award.

Paheli (2005)Role Call: Rajasthani woman

Rani in Paheli

Inspired heavily by the Amar Chitra Katha characters, Rani was the epitome of a traditional and wealthy Rajasthani woman. Riotous colours, a generous dose of bandini dupattas and ethnic jewellery, the look enhanced her Indian beauty.

SRK and UTV Stars come together to make Live My Life

By Bollywood Hungama News Network,

Shahrukh Khan Shah Rukh Khan is now all set to make the term 'Putting yourself into someone else's shoes' come true, in true sense of the word. Here's the deal - SRK's Red Chillies Idiot Box and UTV Stars (UTV's new channel) have come together with a show called 'Live My Life'.

The concept of the show is that a film actor will choose his or her craziest fan, who will be picked up from anywhere like schools, colleges or even social networking sites. This will be followed by the said celebrity star chalking out his plans for the day, including driving the fan in his/ her own car, working out at their gym, haircuts, photoshoots and hold your breath, even resting in the star's house! In short, the fan will be nothing short of the celebrity's shadow for a stipulated day.

News has it that the stars with whom the channels are in talks with include the likes of John Abraham, Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and others, but the only names that are confirmed are Sonakshi Sinha, Rani Mukerji and Anushka Sharma. Zarine Mehta, the Chief Creative Officer of UTV Broadcast said that they started off with a plan of 10 episodes, but now it's going to be 15.

Rani Mukerji to light up Empire State Building!

Rani Mukerji will be the first Bollywood actor to be given an honour to light up New York's Empire State Building on the occasion of the Indian Day Parade celebrations on the 21st August.

The actress will participate in the parade as the grand marshal and will also ring the Nasdaq bell on the 22nd.

While every year, the Indian Independence Day Parade in NYC ropes in a Bollywood representative, it is the first time that a Bollywood actor will be seen lighting up the Empire State Building in green, white and orange.

Rani's manager revealed, "Rani is in New York for the past three days. She will be felicitated by the Indian federation in NYC."

"Rani will be wearing Sabyasachi's outfits there. A beautiful gown for the ESB ceremony and a lovely anarkali for the parade. She wanted something lighter and comfortable" added the manager.

Last year it was Preity Zinta who did the honours.

Ranis too busy to tie the knot

Will she or wont she? Rani Mukherjis marriage to Aditya Chopra has been much speculated and written about. Now the buzz is that the much-awaited wedding is not likely to happen for another two years.

The rumours about her marriage started floating right from day one of their relationship. It is a well-established fact that she is seeing Adi. That is not a secret anyway, says our source.

But the big wedding has been pushed to a later date. Rani isnt getting married for the next two years. I can assure you that. Her schedule is choc-a-bloc with dates with multiple projects. To begin with, she will start shooting for Anurag Kashyaps film during Diwali. And there are other films that she is considering, says Ranis official spokesperson from Yash Raj Films.

After the success of No One Killed Jessica, Rani is back in business, she wants to reclaim her queen bee status. Rani has struggled and worked very hard to get here. Yes, she wants to get married and settle down. But right now its her career that she wants to resurrect, says our source.

Celebrities, politicians at NY India Day parade

NEW YORK Indian-Americans from the New York area marched in Sunday's India Day parade with pride and a gripe: alleged corruption in their homeland's governing party.

"Remove corruption, save India" read signs hoisted by some of the thousands of spectators lining the Madison Avenue route of the biggest Indian parade in the United States.

The grand marshal of the 31st annual celebration was "Bollywood" star actress Rani Mukherji, with honored guests including Indian classical singer Pandit Jasraj and the president of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo.

Mukherji was mobbed by fans when she arrived for the 10-block parade down Madison, starting at 38th Street.

"I feel as if I'm in India today!" she shouted out to the crowd
some of at least 200,000 people of Indian origin living in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut, according to U.S. Census figures.

Dozens of floats and marching groups reflected India's cultural and religious diversity.

Members of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization were dressed as angels in white, with wings attached to proclaim their message of world peace and harmony.

Hundreds of other spectators took a more strident stance in support of Anna Hazare, an activist on a hunger strike to demand that Indian lawmakers pass a bill creating an anti-corruption watchdog with authority over the judiciary and prime minister's office.

"We feel India now has one of the most corrupt governments ever," said Atul Kumar, an official of the Jersey City, N.J.-based Bihar Society, a nonprofit representing natives of the eastern Indian state of Bihar.

A float bearing a canon represented another flashpoint in Indian history: violence against the Sikhs, starting with the deaths of 66 Sikhs under 19th century British rule.

The official theme of this year's parade was "My Earth, My Home" an effort to raise awareness of environmental pollution resulting from India's burgeoning industries.

"India is getting better at going 'green' with regulations more tightly enforced by the government," said Kurang Shah, executive vice president of the Federation of Indian Associations, a tri-state umbrella group that organized the march.

Last year, Jagdeo was awarded a United Nations' "Champions of the Earth" award, the world body's highest honor for environmental leadership.

The president of the Caribbean nation with a large ethnic Indian population told the crowd, "India is alive and well in Guyana."

On Monday, Mukherji is to join Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover and association officials to ring the Nasdaq opening bell in Times Square.

India Day Parade Brightens Madison Avenue

BEAUTY QUEENS: Winners from several beauty pageants floated along Madison Avenue on Sunday in the annual India Day Parade. (Ivan Pentchoukov/The Epoch Times)
NEW YORKThe cool gray corridor of high-rise buildings along Madison Avenue was energized on Sunday with big smiles, bright colors, and lively music for the 31st annual India Day Parade.

More than 40 floats drew cheers as they drove down the 10-block stretch from 38th Street to 27th Street. Indian film actress Rani Mukerji took turns with prominent figures from the Indian community at the microphone on stage to keep the crowd energized.

We are very happy at the India Day Parade, said T.P. Singh, 61, from Hicksville, N.Y.

Singh, who owns three Subway sandwich franchises in the Bronx, came to see the parade for the first time. Singh's granddaughter, Amanpreet Kaur, 16, was on a float with the winners of various beauty pageants. Kaur won a pageant in the under 16 category earlier this year. Wearing a red langa, a traditional Indian dress, she beamed a bright smile at the crowd while waving an orange, white, and green Indian flag.

Twenty-five years ago, there werent that many people, there werent that many flags around. Now, everybody has flags in their hands, said Mercy Philips, 60, a registered nurse from the Bronx.

Philips has been to parade 10 times and is drawn back each year by the music and dancing.

INDEPENDENCE: A woman enjoys the India Day Parade on Sunday. The parade celebrates India's independence from British rule since Aug. 15, 1947. (Ivan Pentchoukov/The Epoch Times)
The parade celebrates Indian independence. The nation broke free from British colonial rule on Aug. 15, 1947.

Every other culture has some sort of commonalities, but the Indian culture is completely different from the rest of the world, said Anupam Tyagi, 29. Its an entirely different culture, and its good to stay connected with that.

Tyagi moved to New York four months ago, after working in London and Switzerland for India's second-largest IT company. He particularly enjoyed the float where a model of the Taj Mahal was joined by a bridge with a model of the Empire State Building.

Tyagi heard about the parade from friends, who attend it regularly. On his way to the event, he bought an Indian flag made from traditional cloth.

The crowd cheered the loudest when Rani Mukerji came up to the stage. The actress, dressed in a traditional Indian dress, got everyone chanting Hip-hip, hurray! for India.

Madry Engasser, 66, decided to join this years festivities to after reading in a newspaper that Mukerji would be the grand marshal of the parade. She last saw the parade 10 years ago and recalled that many people in the crowd dressed in traditional outfits back then.

The annual parade in New York City is the largest of its kind in the world outside of India.

Anna wave: Walk Against Corruption march in US

New York: Thousands of Indian-Americans living in the New York area have gathered at Madison Avenue for the annual India Day parade to commemorate the 65th independence day of their homeland, and used the occasion to extend their support to activist Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement.

The 31st 'India Day Parade', organised by the Federation of Indian Associations, saw Bollywood stars and politicians rub shoulders with the Indian population living in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as Madison avenue was flooded in shades of the Indian tricolour.

Actress Rani Mukherjee was the grand marshall for the parade, which is touted as the biggest Indian parade in the US.

Noted classical singer Pandit Jasraj, actor Gulshan Grover and singer Shibani Kashyap were also present at the parade that ran for 10 blocks in the heart of New York city.

Supporters of Hazare's Lokpal Bill also turned out in large numbers for the 'Walk Against Corruption'.

Wearing the 'Anna cap', the supporters waived banners and placards and shouted slogans of 'Remove corruption, save India', 'Enact strong Lokpall Bill', 'We want Jan Lokpal', 'We are with you Anna Hazare' and 'India is with you, the world is with you Anna.'

Vamsi Veeramachaneni of the 'India Against Corruption' organisation said that Indians living abroad are "frustrated" to see the growing level of corruption in India.

"All the Indians have gathered here to support Anna Hazare as he represents the future of a corrupt free country. We want to see a corruption-free India.

We have had independence for over 60 years and we are yet to tackle corruption, which continues to be the biggest problem in the country," he said.

Guyana President Bharrat Jagdeo, who is of Indian descent, was the guest of honour at the parade.

The parade comprised floats by US-based Indian organisations and dance performances showing the cultural diversity of India.

Mukherjee waived out to the crowd and said it was "fabulous" to see Indians living abroad celebrate their independence day with such fervour.

Seeing the large turnout of Indian-Americans at the parade, Mukherjee said she felt as "if I am in India today."

FIA said Mukherjee will preside over a ceremony at the Empire State building where the tower of the iconic New York building will light up in colours of the Indian flag.

Mukherjee will also ring the opening bell at the NASDAQ stock exchange on Monday. Last year actress Preity Zinta had rung the bell at the exchange in Times Square.

The parade's official theme was 'My Earth, My Home' and sought to raise awareness about environmental pollution.

Rani-Aditya Chopra relationship in trouble?

Theyve been together for a while now. Rumours that they are going to tie the knot have been doing the rounds. Yes, were talking about Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji. Apparently theres a serious twist in the tale. Adi, who is very friendly with Ranis parents, recently went to meet them. Okay we dont know what transpired between the four walls of the house. But alarm bells rang when Adi was seen storming out of the house. Witnesses say he was angry when he strode out. And it looked like the end of world was far closer than 2012. Oops! Just joking.

International honour for Rani Mukerji
Published: Saturday, Aug 27, 2011, 8:48 IST

Bollywood celebrities have a huge fan following, not just in the country but abroad as well. Most actors get invited to prestigious festivals and events across the globe as they are recognised for their work and films by people.

This time around, it was an extremely proud moment for actor Rani Mukerji when she was invited to New York for the Indian Day Parade celebrations on August 21.

Besides being invited to the parade, the actor was also given the honour of lighting up New Yorks Empire State Building on the same day. A source close to the actor revealed, Rani was extremely proud to represent India at an event of the highest repute. She readily accepted the invitation and participated in the parade as the grand marshal. On the first day she participated in the parade that took the Madison Avenue route and also took a ride on a float. On the next day she was given the honour of ringing the Nasdaq bell.

Understandably Rani was super excited about her trip to the US and had already prepared much in advance. While she had a lot on her mind before she took off for the trip, she was
always sure that she would dress up in something Indian for the parade.

The source adds, Rani was felicitated by the Indian federation in NYC. She wore a lovely salwar kameez by her favourite designer Sabyasachi for the parade and a gown for the other events. She was also overwhelmed by the support that she got in the US as over two lakh fans took part in the parade. She was overheard screaming, I feel as if Im in India today.

Saif, Emraan and Abhishek compete to play Ghanchakkar?

After the intense Aamir (2008) and No One Killed Jessica (2011), director Rajkumar Gupta is collaborating with UTV Motion Pictures on a third film titled Ghanchakkar. Its a quirky comedy set in Mumbai and should roll early next year, around February or March, he says. Quirky lead.
Unlike his last film that revolved around two strong female protagonists, Meera and Sabrina Lall, played by Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan, Ghanchakkar centres around an eccentric man. Buzz is that Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi are all in contention for the lead role. Gupta refuses to be drawn into a discussion on the subject, saying he should lock the cast in a couple of weeks.

However, a UTV spokesperson confirms the news, saying, these three actors feature most prominently in our scheme of things. Gupta insists that it was not a deliberate decision to shift gears, but admits that hed like to explore different genres. Unlike No One Killed Jessica that had its muse in the headline-making Jessica Lall murder case, Ghanchakkar is not inspired by a single person, but by the many unbelievable people you come across in life. Its a fascinating character and everyone loves the script, he smiles.

Prod him on the chances of him repeating Vidya Balan or Rani Mukerji and he says, The film has a strong female lead and other significant characters that populate the world around this eccentric guy. Id love to work with Vidya and Rani again, but to know whether they are in Ghanchakkar, youll have to wait and watch.

A song named after Rani Mukerji

Rani Mukerji has unwittingly become a rap music icon! Washington-based hip hop duo Blue Scholars, named a song after the actor in their latest album, Cinematropolis. The duo DJ Sabzi and MC Geologic say the song Rani Mukerji is a big hit at their live concerts. Rani appears to be
a powerful, intelligent woman and a cultural leader. She does a good job balancing her projected image with dignity and without allowing herself to be objectified, says DJ Sabzi, adding his favourite Rani film is the 2002 hit Saathiya.

Given that Cinemetropolis is a movie-themed record album, the musicians felt it made sense to title the track after an actor who, according to them, exemplified the concept behind it.

I would imagine that being as famous as she is, shes under a lot of pressure everyday and her personal life is open to a large amount of scrutiny and criticism. We dont know her personally, but she seems to do a very good job navigating the waters of the film industry and maintaining a respectable public image as a female. I cant say the same for a lot of celebrities in the USA, he adds.

Shah Rukh makes time for Rani
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been really busy for the last couple of days shuttling in between his post production work for Ra.One and his endorsement deals.

The actor who took time out to celebrate Eid for the first time also decided to teach his children a little bit about the festival. Along with celebrating Eid, he also threw a bash, inviting all his close friends for a dinner party.

SRK was equally excited about celebrating Ganeshotsav, which started immediately on the next day. Despite all his professional commitments, the actor made sure he visited actor Rani Mukerjis place for Ganesh Chaturthi.

Rani who is a close friend, invited SRK to her place to pay obeisance to the Lord and Srk was more than happy to oblige.

This was also the first time that Shah Rukh attended Ganpati celebrations at anyones place and he was so excited, that he even tweeted about it. Went to ranis ganpati. First time I attended a ganpati in a friends house. It was so nice to see faith being celebrated with so much love.

Rushdies Bollywood encounter

The author and film-maker Deepa Mehta recount a meeting with an actress whose youth cried out

So was it Rani Mukherjee or Priyanka Chopra? We will never know. But last week, Salman Rushdie did a hilarious imitation of someone whom he referred to as one celebrated Indian movie actress. The woman was seriously considered for the role of Saleem Sinais mother in Deepa Mehtas film version of Midnights Children. He added that she is a good actress and unlike other Bollywood stars, she could have done it.

Rushdie and Mehta were engaged in a conversation at the Toronto International Film Festival about the making of Midnights Children the film based on the Booker award winning novel. The event included the screening of 10 minutes of rough cut clips from the film. Midnights Children will not be completed until the spring of 2012.

During the conversation, moderator Cameron Bailey co-director of the festival asked them about the casting process.

The author and the filmmaker revealed they met the actress a few years ago in her stretch limousine as she headed to the Toronto airport. Her trip had coincided with the premiere of her film at TIFF. During the ride the actress asked Whats the film about? Rushdie outlined the complex story for her, after which she threw us out and headed to the airport, he said laughing.

They later met the actress in her office in Mumbai, Rushdie said, as he continued with his narration.

She said I love it and I am very excited, but there are one or two little things we should talk now, isnt it? he recounted in the actress voice. And she said, Here, on page so and so, my character has a 16-year old son. I have never been asked to play the mother of a teenager.

Then she said this thing which I will never forget, Rushdie added. She said I heard my youth crying out to me, to the star that I am. At this point the nearly 300-plus audience was laughing-out-loud. So once her youth cried out

Mehta interjected, We didnt have a chance.

we were screwed, Rushdie added.

Midnights Children, Rushdie said, does not have one lead actor. Rather it is an ensemble piece, much like the works of the late Robert Altman, he added, as he and Mehta named some of the actors in the film Satya Bhabha, Shabana Azmi, Seema Biswas, Soha Ali Khan, Anupam Kher (who was in the audience), Siddhartha, Rajat Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Shahana Goswami and the New Yorker Samrat Chakrabarti.

Rushdie wrote the script of the film. I thought I could be disrespectful about the book, removing some of its elements, he said. His first script was 267 pages long. It was cut down to nearly half when the team realised that they would not get funding to make a two-part film.

Bailey asked the two if there are times when a film can enhance what the novel could not do. Rushdie mentioned a scene in the film where Saleem and Shiva have a final confrontation as it is revealed that they were exchanged at birth. The novel contains no such scene, he said. In the novel I felt I didnt have to spell it out, since we as readers, knew it all the way through. But in the movie, if you do something as huge as exchanging babies, I felt you had to have the scene where they confront each other.

I have written it in the script and seen it filmed, he added. Its that one thing, if I was writing the book now, I might put that in, because it actually feels better than whats in the book.

Finally there was the question of Mehtas and Rushdies creative partnership. Rushdie compared it to the collaborations between Michael Ondaatje and Anthony Minghella (The English Patient); Hanif Kureishi and Stephen Frears (My Beautiful Laundrette); and Paul Auster and Wayne Wang (Smoke).

I always felt that I needed to find somebody who had that feeling for my work that I could trust, he said. This relationship works. It feels like fate, like good karma, that we waited until we got this together.

Mausam trouble over: Pankaj Kapur, Shahid host grand premiere

The troubles for Shahid Kapur and Sonam Kapoor's Mausam have ended and the movie has seen the light of the day.

So, as Shahid and dad Pankaj Kapur hosted a grand premiere to mark the release of their film, everyone seemed excited to watch the epic love story that marks the directorial debut of the latter.

Those in attendance included Hrithik Roshan, Riteish Deshmukh, Rani Mukherjee, Bipasha Basu, Sonakshi Sinha and Rakesh Mehra.

The father-son duo looked relieved that they'd finally got to catch up on some good night's sleep after all the hiccups Mausam faced. "Hopefully we will be able to sleep peacefully tonight," said the father.

Shahid said, "I'm just excited hosting this premiere."

Shahid and Sonam looked extremely cute together, especially the latter, who was an instant hit in her retro look, but Bollywood's other fashionistas didn't dissapoint!

Hrithik with wife Suzan were amongst the first ones to enter, while Bipasha and Genelia D'souza came in straight from Ahmedabad.

Sonam's "good friend" Punnet Malhotra was also spotted making a quite entry and exit, clearly avoiding any questions related to Sonam.

Shahid, along with Rani, paraded quite a few times on the red carpet.
While Genelia-Riteish and a few others just came by to say "hi", most of them stayed back and watched the entire film.

Most of them gave a big thumbs up to the movie.

Shahid Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Sonam Kapoor and other glam celebs at Mausam premiere

The bigger the better! The gala premiere of the film Mausam was attended by the whos who of the film industry. And with the presence of our Bollywood beauties like Rani Mukherjee, Amrita Rao, Genelia DSouza, and Sonakshi Sinha, the premiere did not fall short on glamour quotient.

Director Pankaj Kapur was spotted with his wife Supriya Kapur and two children, while Shahid Kapoors mother Neelima Azim came along with his brother Ishaan. Sonam Kapoors star father Anil Kapoor was also at the event. Sonam also invited her favourite designer Anamika Khanna to the premiere. But what Sonam Kapoor was wearing at the premiere of Mausam was not a creation by Anamika Khanna, instead the actress chose a Prabal Gurung dress from his resort collection, and looked like a princess in polka dots.

Other stunners of the evening were Bipasha Basu, Kangana Ranaut, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, and of course, Shahids favourite co-star Rani Mukherjee.

We can happily give Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Roshan the best-dressed couple trophy of the evening. Sussanne looked very sweet in a white short dress, and Hrithik, as usual, posed and walked in great style.

Sonams good friend Punit Malhotra was also at the event. The young director is snapped with Avantika Malik. Catch your favourite celebs from the red carpet of Mausam premiere here:

Rani Mukerji: Star watch

Today we are in one of the best phases of filmmaking. All kinds of films are working, whether it's a realistic film like No One Killed Jessica, complete entertainers like Singham and Ready, a multiplex film like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara or a comedy like Golmaal 3. Its a great amalgamation of directors and actors putting their best feet forward. Just the other day, I was reading how some cops were inspired after watching Singham. Wow! You can make a commercial film like Singham and still have something to say.

Take a film like Black. You don't expect it to be commercially successful, but it was a huge success. It really redefines what people like to watch today. You never know what they will like, but they are so open-minded about watching different movies. This has made it easier for filmmakers to put aside stereotypes. The characters are becoming more and more interesting, not only in a multiplex movie but even in hardcore commercial films!

It goes without saying that the money will also get better, because when there is a change, everything changes. And in due course, Hindi film stars will get recognised globally. Mr Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor (who has a role opposite Tom Cruise)all these are faces that global audiences recognise as Indian stars.

Big studios will continue to make movies but I dont see them driving stars, because they can do that only with actors who are new. The kind of business the Khans are doing with their films, I dont think, anyone can dictate terms to them!

Endorsing multiple brands is definitely going to continue because in India, stars are not just loved, they are worshipped! So they will continue to endorse various products, because there is so much to sell. And thats not going to change anytime soon.
