Welcome to Pokemon Adventures!

You are currently viewing the forum as a guest.

If you're thinking of joining, I feel the need to note that this is a discussion forum, and not some kind of online Pokemon game (as awesome as that would be). We get tons of members getting this confused, and we certainly wouldn't want to waste your time if this place isn't what you were looking for.

You might also find that the activity level is rather low around here. This is mostly due to lack of new members that stick around. I'm sure if we had a few more, all the many members would eventually come out of hiding. Why not sign up and stay for a while. Who knows? You may be surprised.

You and Ninva are ranting on and on...

Well, you've got a point. PA's rules say no flaming....so yeah, I guess we should stop. We have differences of oppinions.... I've fine with leaving it at that.

You know, we were winning the Vietnam before pulling out. The reason the communist Vietnams won was because they held out until the media made the government pull out. I would agree with staying in that war, but that war was very "iffy" on my call. The same with Iraq, but like you say, the Army is becoming a career field.
The thing wrong with Vietnam is that we came into that country trying to keep the communist idea from spreading. We would soon find out that Communist Russia fell along with the Berlin wall that represented its power, and so will the other nations under its influence as well.
Some day I expect America to become a Communist nation or something to that manner, but that's not up for discussion now.

First of all, let me get one thing straight. I don't think you are lying. I know you wouldn't. However, I do not believe that these movies are real/accurate. I have heard nothing of then on any news network let alone even seen them. I still offer you the challenge to find some of these on a reliable media site and post em.

Well, it's the closest thing we have. There are a few good movies that do capture the reality of war. Veterans have made, supported, and approved of a few. One that always comes up is Saving Private Ryan. It's a very gory and brutal movie. I watched some of it, but was slightly shocked by the whole thing. Veterans from that war claimed they could not watch more than D-Day for it resembled too much of the war. Thus we get a comment from a true soldier back in the day.
Also, books from soldiers always help as well. My grandfather was also from the service, but he hadn't served anywhere, which I know of. It's just nice to get his opinion as well, which usually has a huge impact on mine.

Notice in this one how the title is calling our troops idiots, but the video shows our soldiers helping even the enemy.  Remember that in this war the enemy doesn't always come in uniform.  There are what are called insergents.  People who attack soldiers/create disruption/make IEDs/etc.  Also, notice that the title of the video is "US Army are Idiots! WAR CRIMES IN IRAQ (shooting the bus)."  Notice the incorrect grammar in the title.  To me, this means that the person who posted this is not the most reliable.

@ Ruth
Wow, thanks for sharing that last video. It really shows what happens after a sudden outburst of gun fire. I've only seen the battles and turn off. I think that last video showed a very good side of the American soldiers. :)

You cannot accuse those men and women until you have some proof. You haven't offered any. So I guess this topic end here until you do.

I'm sorry for ranting so much, Jacob. I think I touched a soft spot from before, but I still have to stand to my word. I will believe that all soldiers, men and women, are still as sinful as they were before their training. I do believe that they're better off with the training, though. No matter how much you act, you can never really change the way you think unless something great a powerful impacts your life like war. War and its impact is the only thing that attracts me to it. People can be their worse and their best during it. History has proved this, and I'll wait to see if the Iraqi war was the same. Maybe we'll hear heroic stories made by soldiers, and probably condemning sins as well.
I know that you and your family may believe that all America soldiers are good, but there still remains those few that will give America a bad name. Distorted or not, some soldiers can and will do horrible things.

This film is particularly notable for the intensity of its opening 24 minutes, which depict the Omaha beachhead assault of June 6, 1944. Thereafter it presents a fictional search for a paratrooper of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division.

My history proffesor will kill me for this but I'm citing wikipedia. I don't know what's in this movie. I never saw it. I do not deny war is brutal beyond comprehension, but I do want to remind you that everything in this film is not true. It is "losely bassed on a true story." But you could say that Narnia is bassed on the life of Jesus.

I never said they weren't. All humans are sinful. All humans can do wrong. However, you accussed some of them as being murders. I asked for proof. Wouldn't you be upset if some one started calling you a murder?

It's called slander, fyi, and it really annoys me that the main-stream media won't admit to that.

I'm following you >.>.

Jacob...wasnt there an instance in Vietnam that Ninva maybe mentioned? I think it was vietnam...well anyways, those soldiers who basically gunned down all of those people and they were all innocent (as far as I know).

Us and Japan...we are murderers because we dropped those two bombs and killed millions.

Americans can be murderers, I am sure you realize this. This war we are fighting makes our soldiers to a degree murderers also, whether you like it or not. Homocide...the killing of another human being. Now...ok, sure we are helping those willing to gain a democratic government, but all I am saying, atrocities are being commited all over the place and it is a mere word that is true.

Uh, can we just stick with the current topic. It seems everytime I make a point on this issue you two decide to bring up another topic?

In addition, although it was horrible, the dropping of the atom bomb is not murder. But that's another argument.....(Obviously you disagree)
