Welcome to Pokemon Adventures!

You are currently viewing the forum as a guest.

If you're thinking of joining, I feel the need to note that this is a discussion forum, and not some kind of online Pokemon game (as awesome as that would be). We get tons of members getting this confused, and we certainly wouldn't want to waste your time if this place isn't what you were looking for.

You might also find that the activity level is rather low around here. This is mostly due to lack of new members that stick around. I'm sure if we had a few more, all the many members would eventually come out of hiding. Why not sign up and stay for a while. Who knows? You may be surprised.

The Storm worm botnet has grown so massive and far-reaching that it easily overpowers the world's top supercomputers.

That's the latest word from security researchers who are tracking the burgeoning network of Microsoft Windows machines that have been compromised by the virulent Storm worm, which has pounded the Internet non-stop for the past three months.

Yeah, nothing new about this. This is why IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST TO PATCH ALL SOFTWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM, as SOON as the patches are released! If you are infected with something, you are most likely hurting many other people, not just yourself.

Right now, the current state of the Internet is that these botnets rule it. If they want, they can take down any computer on the Internet....simply by overloading it with pointless messages.

There is no way to fight back, other than by eliminating the people who's computers are infected and are performing the attacks.

Lord, the sky's still blue,
For my hope is in You.
You're my joy,
You're the dream that's still alive.
Like the wind at my back,
And the sun on my face,
You are life,
You're grace,
You are blue skies.

"I patch every few months, I'm safe." WRONG! Patch whenever and where ever you can. Anytime a new patch comes out, downloaded. (Easy for me to say since Aaron does it all for us. :p)

I'd better not get any more awards or I'll move into a higher tax bracket.

Hm... Maybe my computer has been targeted. My parent's laptops have been killed, and I became lazy with my patches. Now my computer is becoming slightly slower. Anyways, I think my computer is up to date now. L|

Age, or sludge.

Go to http://www.sysinternals.com and download the program called "Autoruns". In the options, turn on "hide Microsoft Entries" and "Verify Code Signatures". After scanning, it will show you a list of everything that could conceivably be configured to run. You can try turning off some things.....just be careful. Don't turn off the drivers and dlls and such. Turn off programs themselves such as "Adobe Reader Speed Launcher" and such useless stuff that runs in the background.

Actually, "explorer" won't be in the list since that is a piece of signed Microsoft code.

That was actually a joke. You know, "joke", one of those things normal people laugh at. :p
