All is good now that you have figured out when and where Phaelin Era takes place. You know who is doing what and why, and you know the Rules the board goes by. Cool, now we get to move onward to your Character. This is a simple breakdown of the system. It's not hard to understand, I promise. Now then, for starters, let's say you have an idea in your head for what kind of character you'd like to make. Do they carry iron swords or old bows and arrows? If so, you may want to rethink your character. Keep in mind the sci-fi setting Megaman takes place in. Iron swords won't do much good against a pistol, let alone an arm cannon that fires energy blasts. Now, if you have a futuristic character planned we can keep on going. With your idea all planned out in your head, you'll want to put it down on paper as well. Er, maybe not paper, but you get what I mean. Now to introduce you to the character sheet:
From here, I'll describe it to you a bit better. See the Picture? That's if you have a Sprite or Drawing of what your character looks like. You don't need it, considering you'll describe them later, but it's a nice visual aid. I would assume the Name is self-explanatory. Just remember, I don't want -your- name. =P Age is the next big thing on there. Remember the Backstory? Everyone more or less was on the fifty year voyage. So, unless you were born/created in the new star system, then you'll be at least 77 years old. That's the fifty year voyage and the 27 years people have already been on Nova. You'll also want to include about how old your character looks. If they were on the voyage, their appearance would be their age minus fifty years. Simple enough. Gender is obvious enough. Race - You're either a Human which is obvious what that is, a Mechanaloid - robot that must follow its programming to the letter, or a Reploid - robot that has been given the ability to think on its own. Also pretty easy to figure out. You remember the Factions as well, yes? Well, Affiliation is where you'll mark that. As for your Rank, you'll have to decide this one. Just how strong is your character? Could he give X and Zero a run for their money, or should he stick to attacking the training simulation targets? This is where some of your creativity comes into play. Gauge your character appropriately and see where they would fit. For more information on Rank, see the appropriate topic. For Appearance and Personality, you'll want to describe each one of these using a five sentence paragraph at least. That way people will know how your character acts in different situations. They could also make sure your guy is acting how his profile says he would in different instances. A dunce doesn't turn around suddenly know pi to a hundred places. Unless for some reason that's one of the few smart things they -do- know. Background is where you tell where your character came from and why they're with whichever side they are on. Having amnesia and trying to discover his true past is unimaginative and likely won't pass the admins' judgment. Make it at least two paragraphs to be safe. Other is a section where you may include anything that doesn't seem to fit anywhere else. Now we move onto the Tech Specs. For the first part, tell what weapons your character uses. On that note, don't use more than two different weapons unless you have some logical reason. Covering all your bases is a form of godmoding, which basically means you can't be touched. That, we can't have. Now then, you can also name your weapons if you like, your choice. For Techniques/Abilities, you'll want to describe all the different things your character can do. Be specific here as well, because unless you state it here, you won't be able to use it in the RPG. For Example, most X series characters can dash using jets in their feet. If your character has that ability, list it. As usual, don't go over the top or we'll tell you to lighten up on the special powers. Last but not least, is your character's inventory. Yes, we know you have a gun and three ammo cartridges. You don't need to re-list things like that in this section. This would be for random things that don't serve much purpose but could be important to your character (i.e. family necklace you've kept up with). The admins will be using this section if we give your character something during the game to keep up with. (Or if we stick a homing beacon on you. Heheh.) So now you know the ins and outs of the sheet. Once you've filled it in, send it to an admin so that we may review it and accept/reject it. The next section deals with Claiming Characters. |

If you're a fan of the Megaman X series, you may just want to have a character from those games. If you do, then it is possible for you to claim one and use them as your own. To do that, you'll just need to follow some instructions. First off, there is a whole topic dedicated to Character Claiming. You'll want to go to this topic and follow the instructions. I'll simplify it here as well, though. In the topic above, you'll simply reply to it stating which character you wish to claim. Make sure they haven't already been claimed, though. After that, you'll have to prove to us that you can indeed handle a character with that power. To do so, you'll PM one of the admins to be tested. As the above topic mentions, you'll make the setting and place your character in it. An admin will send you a reply to the PM with an action they take. You'll take about three turns (each PM sent = one turn) for the test. Maybe more, maybe less. From there, we'll review the whole thing and tell you if you may claim that character or not. The last step would be to make that character a sheet. This way we can keep up with them better. The format for claimed character sheets is slightly different, but is also included in the Character Sheet topic. PM it to us, we'll check it out, and post it up if you pass. This ends Step 2. Step 3 deals with getting into the RP itself. |

Addendum: Before creating a character, or while creating a character, I highly reccomend you follow the link to the Technical Info Forum and read the Technical Readouts that apply. While it's not absolutely neccessary, these readouts should answer any questions you have about the permissable/likely technology that you can use in your character. If there's anything not mentioned there, please feel free to message me and let me know about the omission. I'm always looking for a good reason to become more informative. Danke! -Janda |

Call me a ronin if you will. Or if you won't, a wanderer. Makes no difference to me. -Janda I am dreadfully sorry about this, but I am going to have to kill you now. -Renouned mercenary-assassin Ariadne, only recorded statement ever. | |
