okay zo, since I have no desire to actively hunt down hockey cards either through card shops, card shows, or eBay, I will live vicariously through you.

so I present to you a quest- add to your want list some of these random/not so random names.  I guess you'll look for the best RC's, and when you do track them down, post  pics of them (like you do the others) and keep them in your collection (or sell/trade 'em)

Gilles Gilbert - was my favorite goalie, it saddened me when the Flyers beat  Gilbert and the Bruins in 1974  (I feel old for saying that now)

Dale Tallon - 1st ever draft pick of the Canucks - if only they won the coin flip

Larry Goodenough  and/or Jack McIlhargey- traded for Bob Dailey

Gary "Suitcase" Smith - led Canucks to first playoff appearance

Rick Heinz - answer to trivia question "who was Richard Brodeur's back-up in '82 when Canucks went to Stanley Cup Finals?)

Nathan Lafayette - if only the puck didn't hit the post in 1994

okay, that oughta be enough

Alright Fucky, I went and looked up every player you listed off. Here's their Best-RCs, and their book values:

1968-69 O-Pee-Chee Gary Smith 176
($15.00)

1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Dale Tallon 225
($5.00)

1973-74 O-Pee-Chee Gilles Gilbert 74
($8.00)

1974-75 O-Pee-Chee NHL Bob Dailey 240
($2.00)

1975-76 O-Pee-Chee NHL Larry Goodenough 373
($1.00)

1975-76 O-Pee-Chee WHA Richard Brodeur 44
($12.00)

1978-79 O-Pee-Chee Jack McIlhargey 294
($0.25)

1992-93 Upper Deck Nathan Lafeyette 588
($0.10)

Very strangely, Rick Heinz does not have a single hockey card!

So, the others are pretty much all reasonable as for something I can go after. I think the Smith will be the toughest, not only to find, but to work a deal for.

I'll see what I can do a little later today as a start

first draft...

okay screw it, can't think anymore - let's go for randomness

QUEST FOR HOCKEY CARDS PART DEUX

Jordan Krestanovich - only current Victoria Salmon King that has played in the NHL... I can only think of 2 other former Salmon Kings with NHL experience, both in the inaugural season (during NHL lockout)

Dave Richter - former tough guy defenceman. When he got traded to the Canucks, I thought he played pretty good defensively when he was paired with Doug Lidster - not sure what happened to him

Doug Lidster - I think he came out of university hockey... underrated, very steady. Pretty much let go by the Canucks in favour of bigger d-men. Played for the Rangers during the 1994 finals.

Jiri Bubla - one of the first Czechoslovakian players released to play in the NHL, a little past his prime at 31 years old

Curt Ridley - had a cool goalie mask. I think he played in the Super Series game versus the touring Soviet team (can't remember which team that was!)

Harold Snepsts- DAMN YOU ALPH

Don Murdoch - first NHL'er that I can think of that had ties to Vernon

Craig Coxe - tough guy, think he ws born in California

Lars Lindgren - beginning of the influx of Swedes to the NHL. Infamous for scoring on his own net when trying to clear the puck.

Jimmy Carson - former 50-goal scorer, but not with the Canucks. Think he played maybe only 1-2 games during 1994 playoff run.

The full list of 23 cards to add to the wantlist has been approved.

The quest may take some time but will begin within a few weeks as I look to make a cheap purchase to knock out at least half of them at once.

Funky has again helped fund the quest -- with a generous donation into my "buy pieces of cardboard" paypal account. :)

I'll be posting progress updates here as time goes on.

man thos bring back memories

don't think I've ever seen the Thomas Gradin pic on the Lanz card - and thought the Gradin and Lindgren cards would be same year

also thought the Richter card would be from a different team
