I've never really been into Superman, but Man of Steel looks INCREDIBLE. I'm willing to see it when it's in theaters.

I'm so over the recycled villains in Superman movies. "but no one knows about Metallo or Brainiac!" Yeah, well, no one knew about Ras Al Ghoul before Batman Begins, and it still went over well. People barely even knew Scarecrow. Superman has more villains than Zod and Luthor. Grundy, Doomsday, Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite, Darkseid. That's why people hate Superman movies. He fights people that really stand no chance... ever. |

Superman's no doubt been the most OP super hero of all time. In one, he literally flew up to a star and just blew. How the fuck can you fight against a dude that can put out a sun like it's a candle? The comic writers saw this was a problem for a long time so tried to throw in internal struggles which Goyer and Nolan definitely have a focus in this story and script. One thing I found really cheesy is the explanation as to WHY he decided to be a hero. Decide to save the world by chilling at the North Pole and watching home movies from dad? I don't know about that. Remember, he was raised by humans so his initial decision to save someone should be a purely human, instinctive, even selfish choice. Then there's the idea that despite all his power, he can't save everyone. Remember Louis originally died in the first movie, he loses his shit and starts spinning the Earth so fast that it goes back in time. Yeah. /sigh. Without the comic lore implications, I would've said let her stay dead and the lesson would've been served. It's a given once he gets over all his moody shit, whoever the villain is, it's their ass. It's just a matter of who around Superman goes down. I'm glad that there seems to be a lot of this in this movie. Simpsons comic guy moment over.

That's an interesting take, using his near immortality as a weakness. He can never die; he will have to live with all the horrible shit that happens to him. Otherwise, he's too squeaky clean and basically impossible to identify with. You don't necessarily have to change his character or make him weaker, just make his strengths a weakness. Either way, I'll see this because even if the story's weak, Snyder will make it look good and I'm a cinematography nerd. |

Henry looks great as the new Supes. And this movie looks like is going to be amazing. I for one am going to see it. I never been a huge fan of Superman, but the movie looks like it has a lot of potential in being great. |
