The shore of New Jersey... Hold the wisecracks Lived in NE Penn for a bit, Wilkes-Barre to be precise, after moving there with an ex and absolutely fucking hated it! There was a mall, a big ass Wal-Mart and flannel. Lots of flannel. The kind of area where shotguns are sold at said Wal-Mart. One thing went to another and I was out. Coming back, I just looked around like "Fried chicken, liquor store, chinese take out, pizza, liquor store, fried chicken.... I'm home!" I never thought I'd be so glad to be back at "Beirut-by-the-shore," aka Asbury, I actually kissed the ground when I got back.

Hey now, don't crack on Wilkes-Barre too bad. I went to college there for four years and live in Scranton. It has places that have gone to hell, but so does every other place anywhere near an urban area. And where exactly in Wilkes-Barre? Because the only place that I can think of that is redneck like that is Pittston and Mountain Top. Edited by Sebastian Grey, Apr 30 2013, 07:10 PM.

Oh I didn't even mention it was COLD AS FUCK! I'd wake up to get to work and would just touch the window like "Oh fuck, damn going out there today." Turn on the news for the weather and it'd be 9 degrees out or some shit. When I was there, there was a blizzard, three feet of snow... in MAY! That's just some straight up Day After Tomorrow shit there. One upside to it though that I had 150 miles between me and the ex's mother. So when that one blizzard hit that shut down everything, even I-80, I just looked at her like "Well, looks like we ain't going to your mother's this weekend." |

It's an acquired area. I don't plan on being here forever, but hey. There are colder and much worse places. |

First eighteen years of my life, around Newcastle in England. Same hometown as Sting (the singer, not the wrestler), Peter Higgs who theorised the Higgs boson, and a shitload of association footballers including Shearer and Carrick (if anyone here knows who they are, lol). Then I lived in the mountains of Andalucia in Spain for a short while, then I lived in the mountains of north-west Wales for a long while, and right now I live in a town called Maghull in Merseyside, about ten miles north of Liverpool... it's like the definition of bland suburbia. It's definitely the kind of town you're supposed to move from, not to. |
