Posting:
Posts should be kept friendly and clean.
Remember... This is supposed to be a FUN and ENJOYABLE place and not a warzone.
So, please stay amiable and fairly well mannered.
Double Posting:
This is when you post twice in a topic without someone posting inbetween.
Though its not a huge problem, it does get annoying sometimes.
It is acceptable when done after nobody has replied to you in several days (usually then known as a Bump), but not when its within several minutes or hours.
Instead, make use of the handy forum feature:
Yes, the Edit feature.
Its nothing new... Its been there for years.
You are ALLOWED to make changes to your own posts at ANY time.
So, rather than posting a second post, and risking the annoyance of others...
Use the Edit button, and add what you wanted to say into your last post.
One thing I have seen as a reason for Double Posting is quoting.
Just so you know... You ARE able to quote multiple people's text in one post!
Just copy and paste the person's text into your own post.
But, to make it look official, put it in the official "Quote" tags.
Like so:
[quote=BobCat]Of course, it doesn't need to be said, but those who post MMF or other scams will get LARTed by the proper authorities. You'll find out who they (tint) are[/quote]
By using that format (quote=Nick) you can make it look as if you clicked the "Reply with Quote" button. By adding commas after the Nick portion, you can also include the time and date, if so wished...
So please, use Edit and proper use of the Quote tag to make your posts more effective, and eliminate Double Posting.
Bumping:
The Art of the Bump is a tricky subject...
When used effectively, it can be wonderful, however, when used incorrectly, can be even more annoying than Double Posting.
Bumping is the posting of a short something with the purpose of "bumping" an old topic back to the top of the list.
Though not quite AS important here as it is in insanily active forums (Best seen at Go-Gaia), it is still good.
On general... Do not bump a topic that is still on the front page.
Unless, youve made a topic, and nobody has responded to it.
If you are to do this, wait several days, preferably a week.
People just may not have come on and gotten around to it yet.
It is good to bump old topics.
Mainly because its better than creating a second topic that had the same point as an older one.
Please look back in the archives before creating new topics. It just helps revitalize old conversations, and eliminate clutter.
Post Subject:
Make sure when you post a topic... That your topic actually BELONGS in the area that you have posted it in.
There hasnt been too many problems with this, and the few that there were, have been moved.
This isnt a severe offense, by any means, and no harm will be done for it.
I will merely post a warning, and move the topic to the appropriate area.
Off Topic:
This isnt a big concern...
Threads get Off Topic. I mean, ALL the time.
If they didnt... Forums would probally fall apart.
Some people would consider OT posts to be Spam, and would take some action about it. (Edit, Delete, Move, or just bitch.)
However, it is not a problem at all to me...
Just, occasionally TRY and get back to the main point of the thread every once and a while, and try not to stray TOO far.
Cursing:
Im very lax about this...
Though I would prefer there to be little of it, Im not going to rip your head off just for saying "Fuck".
Just please keep your language in moderation, and make sure that it is not directly offensive to anyone.
Any posts that I find to have violently aimed cursing, or excessive cursing will either be edited or deleted, (At my discretion, of course! ^_^) and a friendly, yet highly sarcastic warning message left in its place. =Þ
Spamming:
This topic isnt a big problem...
But allow me to explain what I consider to be spamming.
To me, spam is either a blatently useless post (containing repetion of the same word or phrase over and over again), or an incredibly short post that has no real point.
One word posts are a big nono...
They are pointless, annoying, and take up alot of space... -_-;;; (Usually due to sigs.)
One word posts WILL be deleted.
Please try and have some POINT to your posts.
If you really dont really have anything worthwhile to say... Dont waste our time by posting. =Þ
Some Spam topics (such as Forum Game topics [One Word Story]) are allowed.
As long as they have some vague purpose.
However, make sure that those topics go in the "Battle Grounds" forum. ^_^
Flaming:
I am going to be REALLY harsh on flaming...
No Flaming, No N00b Bashing, No severe violence of ANY kind!
Your Flame posts WILL be deleted, and if it becomes too much of a problem... I will make sure that actions are taken...
And believe me... Actions usually arent pretty.
Now, Im not saying that you cant poke fun at another person.
That is fine... Just nothing too harsh.
Lightly roasting is good every once and a while...
But full on flaming is punishable by death.
Some flaming is allowed, but ONLY in the "Battle Grounds" forum.
And, even there, I will not allow it to get out of hand.
Please use regard.
Spoilers:
In some series related forums, there are bound to be some series spoilers for those who havent seen the series.
Please be cautious of this, and make sure that any serious spoilers be well marked so you dont ruin it for someone.
Faliure to do so... Would result in me editing your post to make it known. =Þ
Hentai:
In the immortal words of Mutsumi-sama:
ABSOLUTELY!! !!NO HENTAI!!
I still believe in this, and shall uphold it here too.
This reffers to any H Pictures, Stories (Lemons), Games, or links to H Sites...
Any posts with any of these in them, shall be deleted immediately, and you shall be warned.
Now... Im not saying that you cant bring up some light H references... (Like talking about some mildly peverted things) You just cant directly talk about pr0n or anything like that...
Advertising:
In order to avoid spamming and clutter, we have decided upon a new rule involving Advertising.
In order to post your site in the Advertise Forum, you MUST:
-Have at LEAST a 100 post count.
-Have been active for at least 2 weeks.
If you post your site and have not met BOTH of these standards, your thread will be deleted and you will be warned.
If it happens a second time before you meet the standards, you will be banned.
Signatures:
Due to complaints, we now have a limit on the size of signatures.
Your entire signature area (Pictures and Text) can be no longer than 3 inches.
That is 300 pixels or 14 lines of text.
A good way to check this, is put a Floppy Diskette against the screen. If your sig is longer than the width (top part) of the disk, it is too long.
If your sig is too long, you will be warned. If you do not change it, someone will change it for you.
(Any text or image links lost is YOUR misfortune.)
If you would like to have more pictures in your sig than space allows, then use the Marquee HTML tag.
<marquee direction="down" scrollAmount=3 style="width:565;height:165"> </marquee>
You can adjust the Direction, Speed, and Size of the marquee area by adjusting the parameters.
Place all Image and Text coding within the tags.
Bugs and Glitches:
So far we have had several problems due to Bugs and Glitches with InvisionFree and non standard Browsers.
So far, the problem seems to only be with Mozilla Firefox.
However, there may be other problems with other browsers that are not known yet.
Sigs - Firefox seems to have issues with the <marquee> HTML tag, and will display all of the pictures outside of the designated area, overlapping other member's posts.
As of yet, we are unsure of a clear resolution to this... Other than either disabling viewing of other member's sigs in the Control Panel, or by using Internet Explorer or another main browser to view the forum.
Quotes - There has been an issue when editing a post in which someone has used the [quote] tag.
If edited twice or so, it will leave the HTML showing rather than the proper Quote form.
Again, we have not found a resolution yet.
This will be updated once we have. In the meantime, please be wary. |
