VENNING PRESENTS $15,000 GRANT TO
NURIOOTPA BOWLING CLUB
The Member for Schubert, Mr Ivan Venning presented a $15,000 cheque to the Nuriootpa Bowling Club last Friday, after the club was successful with their application to receive funding through the Active Club Programme.
Club President, Mr Geoff Langley and Treasurer, Mr Noel Christophersen happily received the cheque on behalf of the club.
The money will pay for the much needed work that has already been undertaken to upgrade the clubroom’s facilities. The clubroom air conditioning system was replaced; a new roof was fitted to the building, as the old roof was leaking badly and a new gas heating system has been installed, to help cope with the chilly weather in winter months. The club said the repairs and new systems were necessary as the old air conditioning system was over 20 years old and did not meet safety standards.
Mr Geoff Langley, said that the clubrooms are being hired out a lot more by different groups, so the club is really turning into a “community club”.
Mr Venning said it is fantastic that the club had received such a large amount and encouraged all sporting clubs to be active in applying for grants.

Just wanted to offer my congratulations to Roger and the Nuri Bowls Club for the hard work they did in making the Vine Inn Skins a great day. The field of players the day attracted are testament to the work done in organising such an event.
Be proud guys!
Congratulations go to the Vine Inn for sponsoring the event and for the feast provided at lunch. Also to Roger for the wines.... a nice drop.
Scotty & his crew had the greens running sweet and that was rewarded by the quality of bowls going down.
Well Done again and I am looking forward to the next one!
