They do still recommend that you see an eye doctor though, since it is a nurse who performs the check and they are not as qualified as an optometrist! The nurse would be unlikely to diagnose lazy eye in it's early stages, or an astigmatism. The pre school health check mostly tests that both eyes are equal in what they can see and that they can match things up when seen far away and on the sheet in front of them.

Yes that makes me feel better - I thought I got ripped off!! Logan's eyes were better than 20/20 and he enjoyed the trip to the drs office so I guess it was worth the $20!!!! LOL

Don't get me going with public health nurses! lol. Amber has not been seen since she was two. I called and called, and said she was not seen at the age of 3. They kept insisting it was on thier files she was! She finally got seen by one a few days ago. Of course the first appt. we had last week, she never showed up, and the one a few days ago she was an hour late! iT WAS A WASTE OF TIME ANYWAY CAUSE SHE SAID aMBER IS FOLLOWED BY THE JANEWAY . Me frigging nerves!
