I envy your being able to pop down the street for good tea!
Even if I lived in town, I would probably want it to be Sydney for tea.
Melbourne is in the process of catching on, but places to buy aren't yet quickly identifiable.

We can get T2 tea in a town 30min away - but I rarely head out that way.
There was a wonderful tea shop in a town 25min away that I do drive through fairly frequently, but it closed down. A cafe there sells some tea, so that is mainly where I go for my chai tea.
That is again the T2 brand.

Reading all this is opening my eyes to what this country bumpkin is missing out on, perhaps I had better investigate some on-line tea purchasing!

Don't give up, Mattie! I learned a great deal at Steepster.com, a friendly community of tea lovers from all over. Lots of Canadians! :cananim:

Steepster has reviews of all types of teas and tea companies. I purchase many of my teas on line and have yet to be disappointed. It's usually cheaper too. I have absolutely no doubt that there are tea stores all over fair Australia that are ready, willing and able to ship you fine tea!

Please take a look at Steepster! Wondrous tea is but a mouse click away! :fonz:

PS - I'm going to do some Australian tea company homework and follow up with you, dear friend.

Mattie! I bring you tidings of great joy :fireworks: !
You have a Lupicia tea shop right in Melbourne, and they ship. Lupicia started out in Japan in the 1990s and now have stores in Australia, USA, France, Taiwan and Singapore. Their tea is of the highest quality with a huge variety! I am quite familiar with them - Lupicia has a reputation for excellence!

Here is the link for Australia http://www.lupicia.com.au

My pleasure "Fiddle.
I found them, Shay loaded them.
I also know how to load them now too :)
Which is good - what is missing is a two for tea or a tea party emoticon.
I guess I could try making one - but time is as always at a premium.

But now Fiddle you have your endless cup of tea!

Mattie, you read my mind. I have been thinking that we need a Canadian Tea Party emoticon. Lord knows that I understand a busy schedule. Take your time - I am sure that whatever you come up with will be well worth the wait!
You're drinking one of my all time favorites - I love Russian Caravan! Especially a good smoky one.
I am still on an Earl Grey sipathon - This evening it's Versailles Earl Grey with lavender. Very relaxing!
:tea:
Thanks again, Mattie and Shay! :)

Very nice Al.

I visited Betty's in Harrogate at the weekend. Lovely place. Picked up some Ceylon Blue Sapphire, some peppermint, and a box of lemon & ginger bags.
The peppermint is particularly good. Much more flavour than other peppermints I've had.

 Yes Fiddle, we are very lucky indeed!

Apologies for the tardy reply, I forgot to visit our thread and only just noticed your post.

Over the weekend I was given a tin of Lychee Black Tea imported from China.
It is delicious. Mild and ever so slightly sweet. good without milk.

Disposablepuppetland - Betty's looks amazing! I have to go there when I get back to Mother England :) . I have no doubt that the Ceylon Blue Sapphire is delicious. I am very fond of Ceylon teas. Peppermint tea just happens to be another tea that I regularly enjoy - Especially in the evening. Come to think of it, I have seen Taylors of Harrogate peppermint tea at one of the larger supermarkets here in Richmond - I am definitely going to get some!

Mattie, no need to apologize - I completely understand a busy schedule!
I adore lychee - It's a beautiful tea. Chinese teas are wonderful!

My goodness! We certainly have some folks with excellent taste in tea in Canada! :fonz: :cananim:

I seem to be on a China black Keemun spree here lately - It's really incredible blended with a dash of Darjeeling!

What is everyone's favourite method of preparing their tea?

Currently I use a spherical wire ball for making in the cup, or a tea-pot and strainer if I'm making several cups. Both ways need a fair bit of cleaning out after though.
I used to have a different wire ball with a squeezable handle, but it was lost years ago. I also have a silver cone-shaped diffuser. That looks nice but it's a complete nightmare to clean afterwards.

Does anyone have one of those cup-in-cup ones? Are they any good?

My daily etiquette includes an entire pot of tea in the morning.

I really am quite dishevelled for the entire day on those mornings I have to rush out the door around 6.30am for work and only manage one or two cups full.

On completion of this consumption I like to fill the drained teapot with cold water, step out into the weather of that particular day, cross the porch and cast the cold tea leaf/water across the 'ahem' lawn from a height of approximately half a metre.
I then return inside after greeting the day with this morning ritual, rinse the pot and leave it to drain for the rest of the day while I am out.
