“Eureka! It’s the Money Pit,” Indiana Jones shrieked in joy as the group finally reached their ultimate destination late in the afternoon.

“That’s IT?” a group member exclaimed in disbelief while peering over the edge. “Disappointing. It’s nothing but a hole in the ground with some water at the bottom.”

“It’s THE Money Pit,” Indy assured. “The Lost Scrolls of Alexandria are at the bottom….And they’re all ours. Ours, I say!”

Suddenly, a clamor broke out as some of the group began screaming and yelling accusations at one of their members. “She’s a Guardian!” shouted one with surety. “I heard her humming an Ancient Norwegian Monkorian chant as we approached the Money Pit.”

That was enough evidence for most of the others. Although the land swore that it was clearly a case of mistaken identity, the group seized her and deprived her of the remainder of her chosen life.

Rummaging through her backpack, it was affirmed that the land, the Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Mustang Gods of Pre-Pharaohic Egypt, was a Guardian.

The Night phase has begun. It will end 24 hours from now. Indy, Security Officer, and Guardian, please message me with your decisions.

@ Aerso, it was the least I could do, after suspecting your motives earlier in the game!

“I’m going in after those scrolls tomorrow morning,” Indiana Jones announced, pointing down into The Money Pit.

Posted Image

“That’s crazy, Indy!” one of the archeologists diagnosed. “Many have tried and died. There’s no way to get to the bottom of this booby-trapped hell hole.”

“Well,” Indiana chuckled and scratched his chin. “There IS a way to retrieve those Scrolls,” Jones insisted. “And it’s SO obvious and simple that I’m almost embarrassed for my profession that no one ever thought of it before! All you have to do is….”

But before Indy could reveal his solution to The Money Pit’s secret, one of the others behind him appeared to drunkenly stumble over an empty rum bottle and tumble into him. Indiana Jones was pushed over the pit’s edge and fell uncontrollably into the watery depths at its bottom.

The others heard Indiana’s yelp and splash, just before he sunk beneath the greenish, slimy water. One quickly scrambled down the ladder, yelled, and looked for him anxiously. But Indiana Jones did not resurface.

As the hours of the night crawled by, there was no sign of life from the life-snuffing waters of the ominous pit. Then, as the first rays of dawn began to break through the Canadian sky, everyone was struck with the realization that Professor disposablepuppetland, affectionately known to all as Indiana Jones, was dead.

:ph43r:

Day 5 has begun. It will end 48 hours from now. Good luck.

I was unable to defend DPL last night because I had done so the night before. He did confirm that LC is the final Guardian before he died.

There was no reason to delay the inevitable. The remaining members of the group wasted little time in dispatching with the killer of Indiana Jones. Their justice was clean and swift, yet carried out in a manner that cannot be detailed in a PG-13 rated historical account such as this.

Needless to say, the lone remaining Protector of Everything Sacred in his life did not go out with remorse. His final combative words were: “That man was a grave-robber and plundering academic! He was a disgrace to all of us, as well as to his namesake institution! *gasp* Don’t…that tickles!”

….Yes, Professor Emeritus lowercolumbia of The University of Indiana, Department of Historical Things That Should Have Been Forgotten a Long, Long Time Ago, was The Last Guardian of The Lost Scrolls of Alexandria.

BUT OUR STORY ENDS NOT THERE....

A sudden rushing sound of water from the bottom of The Money Pit was heard by the group. They raced to the pit’s edge and anxiously peered down into its murky depths below.

There - bobbing up and down on the water’s surface - was the hat of Indiana Jones! Astoundingly, three scrolls could be seen wrapped and bound to its brim….with a whip!

The group cried out a collective, ”Huzzah!”

Years later, they all claimed they heard the faint, yet firm voice of Indiana Jones admonishing them:

Great game Barry. Everyone did an outstanding job. We had a couple of gaffs during the night phases but it worked out ok in the end. Well played on both sides.

Well played all round indeed!
Still a bit put out at being done in by a snake in the rocks, but the game was well played and well hosted.
