So I just saw the preview for the new Predator movie. Looks like they returned to the original formula, kind of. I'm stoked!

I saw this last week, but wasn't really impressed. Don't get me wrong, I'd go see it, but it's just not top of the list. AVP had me excited, this has prompted an interest but I found the trailor disappointingly empty.

Also, there's reference to a "super predator". I can't tell you how much of :eyebrow: that raises. Aliens was brilliant with the Queen, played by the uncredited Philip Seymour Hoffman. However, I don't think Predators will work so well using the same forumla.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago. It was... ok.

It was enjoyable enough and I wasn't bored, but it felt sloppy and unfinished. Adrien Brody is pretty convincing in the lead role, but Alice Braga struggles in her role. It's not really her fault, she acts well enough, but she doesn't have the physique to be a convincing soldier, and they gave her a gun that was far too big for her.

The first half of the film is pretty good, and feels a lot like the original Predator.

Laurence Fishburne's character is interesting, but is killed off almost as soon as he's finished his lengthy introduction. It's after this point that the film goes downhill.

There's a pointless Samurai sword fight that doesn't fit in at all. Then they throw in a twist right at the end which is not remotely convincing.

Throughout the film there are little errors that detract from story. I think I would probably dislike the film if I saw it again.

Overall 6/10.
