As for the way they get their energy. In order to reach that target you mentioned LC, the government have ordered dams to be built in areas of natural beauty and abundant wild life.
Oh that’s not good. On the other hand I rather have a dam then oil wells next to my house considering environmental damages.

My home here in Perth has solar panels. Their only problem is that they're really expensive. To get ours fitted cost a lot more than a less well-off family would be able to afford. They pay for themselves eventually, though.
That’s why I approve that our government gives subventions to families who are installing solar panels. To your own solar panels… :fonz:  :fonz:  :fonz:  :fonz:

I'll say this for Palin...

...she's the best looking VP choice to date...dare I say..."milf" :shifty:

The previous sentence should not have been read by those of a nervous disposition, those under 18, or Republicans with guns.

make that GILF and include "those with insomnia-induced paranoia" in the disclaimer. I actually think the Republicans with Guns would agree.

Honestly as women leaders go, she is retarded and embarassing.

She may be retarded and embarrasing but she's, um, what was the third thing you said? Nah, I kid, I don't mind her, but she's not exactly the sharpest ice-axe out of Alaska, maybe those oil fumes have effected her...

I think this year's election motto should be: "Election '08 - America flips a coin!"

I honestly think this will be one of those times whereby the Presidential candidate that wins will do so by electoral points and not popular vote, i.e. a repeat of 2000.

I think there is now a significant difference between the choices this year. There is no way someone could accidentally vote for Sarah Palin or go on the flip of a coin.

Funny video, ess!

I still think the United States' next President won't have the popular vote. I think whoever wins is going to do it by the electoral college vote.

Well, if people keep getting put off by McCain attack ads (not McCain's ads), then more and more people will vote for Obama-Biden

I think it's a rip! The electoral college was only created to that George Washington was guaranteed to be elected President. Well, it was also created because at that time a popular vote throughout the United States would have been almost impossible...but still!

I think there's an irony to the fact that America preaches about democracy, yet its own leader, and by common consensus, leader of the free world, isn't even elected by the people! The electoral college isn't a bad thing, but it can literally rob people (Al Gore) of an election victory.

I love the Swiss confederacy! I love how it's one of only three countries in the world where "Head of State" rests with more than one person and how it's easy (compared to other nations) to get laws changed.

Great system!

Before I comment on Palin and McCain - my views on Obama.

My dream candidates would have been a Mike Bloomberg - Chuck Hagel ticket.
They didn't run, but from what I'm hearing, they might end up in Obama's cabinet.
In the primaries I preferred Hillary Clinton, although Obama in the end is probably the right man at the right moment in history for several reasons. He is an immense political talent. Even though Obama is a bit closer to my views, I still think Hillary offered more guarantees in the sense that she carries less potential for defrauding Obama's overreaching expectations. Plus she still has a better health-care plan. In the end I'm quite satisfied with Obama. His policy advisers - Austan Goolsbee, Paul Volcker, Warren Buffet, Parag Khanna, etc, etc. Some of the brightest people out there. The best the US has to offer.

Now as for McCain - Palin, repeating some stuff I wrote elsewhere:

When the campaign began I had very mixed feelings on McCain. McCain 2000 was great. McCain 2008 is an unrecognizable, bumbling and barely coherent figure. He sold his soul to the very same people who thrashed him when he lost to Bush. "Smear merchants" he then called them. Now they are running his campaign.

The choice of Sarah Palin for VP is an overt joke, frankly, that only a generous measure of either desperation, cynicism or earnest stupidity could explain. And the laugh is on the America that supports her and that seriously entertains the thought of her as VP.

"Gibberish" and "Nonsense" as Fareed Zakaria put it nicely in a recent op-ed. Several prominent conservatives have openly expressed that she should have been withdrawn from the ticket. Palin is the kind of person that has to self-transcend to at least not embarrass herself while campaigning, speaking or debating.

Sarah Palin chosen as McCain's running-mate can only mean one of two things. A: McCain knowingly placed his country at risk to win an election. or the more frightening B: McCain doesn't know how bad Palin is.

I'm also convinced that McCain is deeply resenting having reinvented his political-self at the age of 72. It is really sad to see this American original, possibly end his career going through the motions in a pointless campaign as a result of his own self-betrayal.

I think Palin, as a non-disregardable detractor to any hypothetical presidential ticket, will also go down as a sort of "anvil that broke the camel's back", rather than the traditional straw.

But in time Palin may actually become an asset. She, along with a botched vetting process, can provide the party with a scapegoat and possibly favour a more tenable wing of the GOP coming forward in the future. But in all honestly I can't see what that wing could consist of beyond, Lincoln Chafee and Colin Powell. Chafee has endorsed Obama, and Powell is apparently going to do so tomorrow.
