Nope - but I'd bet more states will follow!

Knowing Oklahoma, I think they are doing it so they can declare abortion illegal, put Christianity in the schools, outlaw homosexuality and rip off more land from American Indians.

Even though I agree with the tenth amendment thing in the big picture.

EDIT: BTW, they are not declaring themselves separated from the U.S. government, only reclaiming the rights that are supposed to be fore states. They didn't secede, in other words.

THAT the State of Oklahoma hereby claims sovereignty under the
Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all
powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal
government by the Constitution of the United States.

THAT this serve as Notice and Demand to the federal government,
as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates
that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated
powers.

And you say I have problems!
If the states were to divided, it would lose its status as a world superpower, well, maybe except the side with california on it, considering its such an economically powerful state it has a higher GDP than Canada, Sweden, and Switzerland combined.

But thats besides the point

Russia would take over the world!!!!!! :hail:

Sounded like a joke to me, too, since the first two pages of Google search were just discussions on various boards. But, interestingly enough, not a hoax.

OK, here's how this will work. The feds will tell OK to stfu. OK will sue the feds. It will go on and on till it gets to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will tell OK to stfu. Numerous lawyers will count the millions and millions in taxpayer dollars they got paid.
The end.

I know this is late news: It seems the Oklahoma House of Representatives really did a voting about this issue (voting results). Checked online the two big Swiss newspapers and CNN and couldn’t find something. The first news entry in a Google search was this russiatoday (Can’t say if this source is more authentic than forum-entries). Maybe I have missed something, since this was only a very brief research.

What irritates me a bit is that news reports are a bit rare. Sure this attempt doesn’t have to be taken too seriously, but there is at least a serious movement behind that idea. Sure worth to mention somewhere… Or does something like that occur everyday in the USA?

if the states in the union became divided, and none were friendly to one another, then i would think that regionalism would follow suit and would make maybe a western united states or maybe the western confederacy, and they would take over the other side or maybe some other way around and what not. People love our union right now, and wouldn't really want to leave it, even if not technically leaving it.

That's what I found, too. It is more often discussed on political boards than in news reports at this point - 2.5 months after the fact. Bet it had more news hits when the story was fresh.
