I rock at scrabble. Sometimes, If there are two words I could use, I think how many points each word would earn in a game and use the one with the higher score :hide:

Isn't that what you're meant to do you know, WIN? :P

I don't like this "it's all about taking part that counts"... For me it's all about the win :D Unless it's charity...THEN it's about taking part...(and raising the most money) :shifty:

Monopoly is more chance-based.
*sniggers*

And Scrabble isn't?

There's so much you can do with W, K, N, N, L, U, O

I remember when I was playing Scrabble with my lil sis when she was like 10 and the word "ozone" was spelled out in front of her in her letters. I was like, "Nix...read it, play it!"

She won that game when she later somehow came out with the words "Hexagon" :eyebrow: FIX!! Nix is lucky when playing, I use skill and my vast, VAST knowledge of psychological warfare...she uses pot-luck... :P

I chose that combo of letters because I couldn't make one word from it. :P

Now you can see why I never really liked Scrabble. :P

I mean, I once make the word "voyage" and nearly did one in my pants in excitement.

The best word I ever got in Scrabble was "announce" (the 'u' already being there). Got rid of all my letters in that one. I have no clue what the hell the score on that was though...I was drunk...probably the only time you'll get me to play scrabble without being bored to death because, thanks to general reletivity, when drunk time goes quicker for me than it does for others...aaaanyway...

I don't really play it :P

well if you want to play a great game not based on chance but pure strategy, then you should play diplomacy. Its sorta like risk but way better.

Oh and it is always about the win not fun because why do we play the game? We play the game to win.

I once put down QWERTYS for 110 (Q on a triple letter, whole word over a double word, 's' ending a word already placed down) It's in the Scrabble Dictionary we have to check for cheating, I swear.

But how can Qwerty be a plural?

And remember... NO PLURALS ENDING IN "S". :read: :foul: :read:

It exists. QWERTY is an adjective, describing the QWERTYUIOP keyboard. AZERTY is a word as well, according to the World Scrabble Championship dictionary of choice, the SOWPODS Dictionary.

The link to the meaning may be broken but it exists. :P

You can have plurals ending in S. Don't know where you got that from. Trees is valid, ballets is valid (both pl. nouns), violates is valid. No proper nouns such as Canadian though.

The rules in my Scrabble box clearly state:

Quote:

No plurals ending in "s".

And my mother never let us use house rules for Scrabble. <_<

Then again we had a bazillion house rules for Monopoly. :P

Remember that in Australia, "N.A." means "not applicable". ;)

And the Scrabble board I use was made in 1983, so maybe the rules have changed since then.

Ess, in the example you've given, the plural "s" word was created only because another word was being put down, I think that's allowed in my version as well. When I said that plurals ending in "S" aren't allowed, I was referring to stuff like this:

Player 1 puts down "GOAT"
Player 2 has an "S" and puts it on the end to make "GOATS" and gets the full point score for "GOATS".

Then that sounds like it is a previous version of the rules, Scrabble did have rules like that.
