Roleplay between the Nations of Canada

Perhaps we should set up a thread(s) dedicated to roleplay between the nations of Canada. We could announce news reports from our nations, create alliances, go to war, host sporting events etc. After all, we do have a map, which does add a touch of RP realism. We could model it after NS roleplay, and try to keep out all the calculations and techy stuff.

Anyway, any thoughts? If we get enough players, it could be something. It would be like a huge RP of the world.

Sorry, if I'm a bit brief on the details, I'm in a rush. Thoughts, comments, concerns?

:grandpa: In the good ole days, that's pretty much all there was. The introduction of the Village for "social" RP was quite an innovation at the time.

Wars tended to dominate the agenda then, but I personally would be more up for negotiating trade agreements or RPing disaster responses, etc.

That's what I was getting at, an RP that did permit war, but concentrated on other parts of nation RP as well.

I like this idea :)

I read in the map that Kyleslavia asked for monetary assistance in protecting your borders and I thought, "That would be a good way for the nations to interact".

Also I looked at that map and thought Niongor should invade that lil piece of land that I wanted but OO didn't give me. I only wanted access to one side of the lake and it was denied... :ph43r: ...TIME FOR WAR!! :lol:

Seriously though, I think it's a good idea Kyle :yes: :thumbsup:

I do have a problem with it for the idea, as you can see above, where people will dispute who has the bigger military or most powerful military <_<

Seems like a good idea. We would probably have to use that NS Economy website, however, just to keep it neutral and unbiassed.

we could have ourselves choose a number in our population to be in the military and how many could be drafted, then calculate how well equiped they would be using the economy info.

Sounds ok but it just means that some people will put ridiculous amounts of people into their armed forces and then draft about double it <_<

Percentage of people in army should rely on how much of that nation's budget goes on military spending as well as whether or not that nation has mandatory military service. Obviously those with conscription will have higher percentages in the armed forces at any given time.

wow my nation will have an awesome military then! woo! Also i think that if you do win a war, maybe your police size should count so that way if you don't have enough then partisans can rebel and all taht stuff.

As an example:

Spuddii's current defence budget is:
  • Military spending: $222,205,386,585.60 (24% of budget)
    Population: 222 million
    Defence spending ÷ population = $1,000.93 per person on your military.
In contrast, ParrrrTay's defence budget is:
  • $1,361,563,172,236.80 (1% of budget)
    Her population is 10.39 billion
    Defence spending ÷ poplation = $131.05 per person on military
Therefore it would appear Spuddii would have a better funded military compared to ParrrrTay, however, "better funded" does not mean "stronger".

If we were to base military personnel numbers on the percentage of defence spending; i.e. 1% spending on military = 1% of population in army, then ParrrrTay's army would still dwarf Spuddii's:

ParrrrTay = 103.9 million (= 1% of 10.39 billion)
Spuddii = 53.28 million (= 24% of 222 million)

I think in order to establish a nice balance, the percentage you spend on military should be the percentage of your population in the army.

I just used these two nations as comparasons, apologies to anybody who is bothered by my usage of them.

As a side note, I'd be happy to serve as military coordinator for the region :lol:

Well, we can try to stay away from war for the time being. Then once the RP gets going, we can work out the niddy griddy specifics. However, I really want to try to stay away from so many calculations etc. as it may make the game less fun.

So, how should be organize this, topic wise?

EDIT: Take a look at the forums for the region of Europe. Their role playing section is really neat, it includes, news reports, a diplomacy forum, and a War forum. All of these forums are connected when it comes to IC, they're just separated on the forum for better organization.

maybe we can have your idea as a new part of our forums maybe under the name of: Nation game or something and then there you could have the diffrent areas, you could have the war room with maps and military info and economy and trade room with your nationstates summary viewer thingy, and so on.

Would this game cover all aspects of inter-region relations, like, for example, would Niongor's government be able to set up an embassy in Kyleslavia and the two trade goods and such?
