In the UK and Australia I always go private just because the quality of care is better, they don't rush you in and out like the NHS does in the UK. Australia's not too bad for healthcare, it is one of the best nations in the world for it but still nothing compares to the healthcare and welfare systems of the Scandinavian countries! When I went to Iceland their healthcare system is amazing, but personally, I wouldn't like to pay the crippling taxes to keep it going.

As for communism, I hate it. It tells us that everyone is the same when clearly we are not. I love capitalism, and yes, fair enough some people don't succeed under that system but at least they're given the chance to succeed and be rich, unlike communism.

Personally, I would rather that something was run by the government than a private company. A government is answerable to the people (and will get voted out if it doesn't do its job) while a private company is only answerable to shareholders.

I have no problem with private and publich healthcare competing against each other, private and public utilities and so on.

if the government manipulates the people even if they had horrible health care then they could get away with much.

To all our members who live in Europe/Canada, you guys are quite lucky. In the US health care is basically determined by how much money you have. Health insurance is becoming a joke, as it is very inconsistent and unreliable. When insurance companies abandon average Americans, they don't have anyone else to fall back on. In Europe/Canada you are given at least some help by the government.

Of course, I am no expert, and am sure that there are negatives to having socialized health care, but at least it provides the bare essentials.

but at what costs? The government would know ALL of your info so if you were an enemy of the party or opposition then you could be given "accidentally misplaced" medicine. They would have total control and if a government leader decided to he/she could make the taxes go up without much in health insurance. however the corporations are horrible at insurence. Progressive is THE WORST they make stalin look like god(okay way exaggerated but STILL!) They hired an agent and taped a video of people at a private confession area in a CHURCH and completely invaded the privacy and trust of some many good and wonderful people. They did this because they thought that the lady who they were looking to see if she was lying was that in a car crash she had a stroke or something and they thought she was FAKING it. She was not they just wanted their money back.

Kyleslavia, I'm Canadian. We have universial health care. It's a wonderful idea. Everybody can get equal treatment despite their social standing. The wait times may be longer, but the fact that everybody can get treated over-rides that I think.

Damn, I'm definitely leftist. XD :wall: Oh well,I already knew that...

As for sultanate kartoffel, I know almost nothing about that. I know it's the type of government that was used in the middle east. That's about it.

What are you raving on about?

Voting is private. I'm the only person who knows who I vote for.

what about obvious opposition like candidates that ran against them(president). If they had control over it then they could purposely refuse service and blame the deaths on a terrorist or something. I like it when the government and the corporations are competing agaisnt each other public vs. private, you always get semi-good deals and if you don't do the right thing then the other side'll have the upper hand which would be horrific for em'.

Good point!

KK, it doesn't matter who elects them in, once a democratically elected government is in place, its duty is to everyone, not just their party, we don't live in dictatorships.

Very true. Many people forget that Hitler (for example) was voted into power.

Many people do forget that Hitler was elected into power.

For me that highlights how different fascists and communists are, the fascists are, by and large, elected whereas communists tend to seize power.

However, Al is very right. It shows how a democratically elected government can very quickly turn into a dictatorship.
