Batman Begins

The single greatest comic book hero film...EVER!! They have completely done over and done out the old comic style of Batman and have brought a great dark side and true-to-comic format back into the films. Christian Bale might just turn me gay with his performance in this film...

Without meaning to sound too geeky, this film felt like it could actually be real, setting a trend every comic book blockbuster since has attempted.

Now, I'm slamming around off the walls in anticipation for Dark Knight. I'm not going to seeing it for a while yet but MAAAAN am I psyched up for it!!

Kit gives Batman Begins:
5 / 5 - Cooler than ice!

Hellboy II...

If you loved Hellboy - the humor, the Tecate beer, the ass kicking fun of Ron Perlman - you will also love II.

Yes, there are rip-offs from other movies, but as predicted, Guillermo del Toro delivers an unflinching visual gauntlet of fantasy and stark reality, beauty and hideousness, the good of many weighed against the good of a few.

Either less campy love stuff than the first one, or a whole lot more, depending on your tolerance for interspecies relationships.

See it on the big screen if you can.

Blech! Even the luscious Carmen Electra couldn't save this. It was truly awful.

What's Love Got To Do With It

This movie gives us a cut down glimpse into the life and times of Tina Turner and, as far as I am aware, is based on her autobiography, I, Tina.

This movie is not for the light-hearted and focuses in great depth on Tina's often abusive relationship with Ike Turner (who died late last year) with scenes that many may find hard to watch.

However, overall the film tells the upbeat and heart-warming story of how Tina Turner overcame adversity and set backs to make it, not only as a singer with Ike Turner and his bands, but also as an independent artist with a successful solo career than far out-shone her past with Ike.

I found the film very endearing and overall a good watch. The acting from both Lawrence Fishburne (Ike Turner) and especially Angela Basset (Tina Turner). Basset must have studied hard to get the moves right as well as the stage presence that Turner commands during her performances.

Overall, a good watch for a slow evening with nothing better to do, and you'd consider making time to watch it if it was on TV, but you wouldn't go so far as owning a copy of it on DVD.

Kit gives What's Love Got To Do With It:
3 / 5 - Worth watching!

I saw Wall-E today. I missed some parts due to an uncooperative 4 year old, but it was ok. Not the best Pixar film ever, but still worth the price of admission. Impressive that the first 30 minutes had NO DIALOGUE whatsoever, and it was still watchable.

Seriously, for a U-rated movie?

THE DARK KNIGHT.

True to its title, this was a very "dark" movie--certainly not what one would expect from a movie based on a comic book, and really reminded me more of Frank Miller's Batman than anything else. The high drama and action makes it an emotional roller coaster from the start, Heath Ledger is awesomely creepy as Joker, and...well, I feel like I'd spoil it if I revealed any more.

Worth seeing even if you're not a comic book fan--although given how Nio just saw "Begins", it may be a while before he gets to this one...

I haven't just seen Batman Begins, I just noticed it hadn't been reviewed and seeing as how it's my favourite movie of all time, I thought I'd give it a mention :)

The Dark Knight has actually been out in Australia longer than it has in the US, came out on the 16th here but it was just special premiers round my way. I'm hopefully seeing it next week.

I haven't been since Robots came out - and that was a few weeks after it came out... :P

The Dark Knight will be on my list.

I thought it was mostly boring, with some tense parts, a couple spooky parts, and a strangely touching conclusion. I suppose if you feel sympathetic for Josh in the beginning you'd like the movie, but he never really did anything that made me feel for him. He did cry at one point, but by that time it was too late to feel sorry for him. The song the boy sings at the end is oddly fitting though. The kid, Jacob Kogan, sings it while playing the piano and he does an amazing job.

You know they did never
have to love me
no, no, no
And no one will ever
love them now

But they always wanted somehow
to save me
why, oh, why
For pity's sake they
should have saved themselves

But you, you always said I never missed a note

and nobody ever knew me like you do

you always said it was gonna be okay

I only ever really wanted to be with you

X-Files I want to believe

Fun watching on the big screen with the surround sound and mega sub woofers. The story was decent but I walked out somewhat disapointed or wanting for more. I am not sure why. Anyway being an X-Files groupie, I will watch it again when it hits the TV screen.

The name for the new X-Files film was thought up like a week before it was released I heard.

Ok so I'm not a real Costner or Kutcher fan for that matter, and almost didn't watch this movie today for that fact, although now I'm glad I did. It takes a lot to choke me up and this one choked me up in the end.

The nearest cinema costs £7.40 just for me :(

I might be taking a day off of work next week to go and see TDK in the morning, when it's only £5.
