Fun is the only noise you should hear
Given the fact that I have seen at least two movies a week for the last several months, the following movies actually hit me as worth your money to see in the theater:

Up
Half Blood Prince
Star Trek

A recommended documentary to rent:
Jesus Camp

The movie "Food, Inc" is not playing in many locations, but if you can, see it. It is very educational and at the same time quite frightening.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

3.5/5

A solid popcorn movie, a little over the top, generally well acted, some good jokes here and there, plenty of action, gunfights, and explosions. Better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen but not as good as Star Trek. Some of the CGI was slightly wild, which works when the subjects are giant alien robots, but looks a little weird when applied to human characters. Not sure if it's a bad thing the reused footage from Black Hawk Down (I knew I recognized those helicopters and that landscape!). Requires a little suspension of disbelief, there are some plot and logic holes, but a fun film.
Seeing a brunette Sienna Miller in glasses and leather was almost worth the admission for me :P .

Saw "I Love You Man". Rush is featured prominently in the film. Five Stars!

The Day The Earth Stood Still

No, not the well thought out and captivating original; I mean the preachy, lazy "remake".

First things first the storyline. After being thrown in to events head first without any lead up or explanation, you find yourself having everything explained at once in a single poorly thought out scene which lacks all credibility and emotion.

Keanu Reeve's usual style of wooden acting, combined with the obviously wasted talent of Jennifer Connelly and an ensemble of faces you can't put a name to; make for a dire clash of acting styles that fail to draw you in.

I used the word "remake" earlier, and I use it in the loosest possible sense; as the film is only a remake for the tfact it re-uses the name as the original.

I wonder if Greenpeace or some other lot had any part in the making of the film; for the subtle "anti-nuclear" message of the first film has now been replaced by a bland, weak and cringingly obvious "let's save the planet through the power of the Toyota Prius" message.

Death at a Funeral
Funny, funny, funny and a bit predictable, but still funny. Beware the body fluids, pt. 2. Alan Tudyk never ceases to entertain.

Great movie. Reminds me of Eulogy, only better.

I am really interested in seeing this:
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

If anyone sees it before I do I would be interested to hear your review.

Seen this today. Excellent.

Taken (Extended Cut)
Occasionally falls into action movie cliché, but for the most part tries to be like Bourne. Liam Neeson plays a wonderfully morally gray character who you can sympathize with, and there's one instance of collateral damage in the extended cut that's missing from the theatrical version.
8.5/10

A (relatively) low budget SF flick. It has a couple of effects bloopers and plot holes but generally stands up better than most attampts at SF. Good acting, good atmosphere, and the plot doesn't get shoved in your face.

Kingdom of Heaven

I watched the Director's Cut version which was on a TV channel the other night, and it's a long version! The film has fantastic fights and a very talented cast (especially Edward Norton).

The film has a deep underlying message. Essentially it makes the point that war isn't necessarily the way to get peace in the Holy Land (or Kingdom of Heaven), and the character played by Orlando Bloom finds "success" with this idea.

Overall, a good film, but a bit too long to keep me fully immersed in the plotlines.

Kit gives Kingdom of Heaven:
3/5 - Worth watching!

Batman news

Seems a third Nolan-made Batman film is looking increasingly likely. Her Sexiness Megan Fox has signed on to play Catwoman in the next film...
