I'm surprised how much I liked this one:![]() The ending is so sad and bittersweet, it really tugged at my heartstrings, especially with that song (The Call - Regina Spektor). To me, it's about leaving childhood behind. Edit: I'm looking forward to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader now because I enjoyed Prince Caspian so much. |

*Until the End of the World Well, much that is a Wim Wenders actually.. but the music in the above breaks me. *O Brother, Where Art Thou *Wag the Dog *Gattaca *Babettes Feast *Blues Brothers *Rear Window *Its a Wonderful Life *Men Who Stare at Goats but reckon I'd better read the book *Tripod and the Dragon - more of a stage comedy act by comedic musicians but have included it here because of how much I love this and how fun it is for gamers. And until NS I'm not even a gamer, not even Go Fish! |

I always have trouble with these "favourite" type threads, because so much depends on the time and place. I like many of those listed so far, but I'll go with adding a Koyaanisqatsi Where the Green Ants Dream Paris, Texas Taxi Driver Repo Man Trainspotting Akira Tampopo Yojimbo Dead Poets Society Excalibur Psycho Schindler's list The Cube The Silence of the Lambs Scanners The Sixth Sense Bladerunner Brazil My Beautiful Launderette Pulp Fiction Rambo : First Blood That Sinking Feeling Alien Modern Times The Great Dictator Schindler's List The Sting The Green Mile Once Upon a time in the West (NB, not ..in America, although that is also good) The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Erik the Viking Dark Star Kindergarten Cop Trading Places Life of Brian The Incredibles Cars Monsters Inc Dumbo Subway Diva Betty Blue Jean de Florets Witness Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Good Morning Vietnam |

Really? I watched that last week. I mean it was quite fun, in a so-bad-it's-funny kind of way, but hardly a top 20 contender. The only really good bit was the talking-down-the-bomb scene. I've been working my way through a list of cult films recently and Dark Star was on it. Here's the others: Metropolis - Interesting, but I need to find a version with better music Idiocracy - Good idea but could have been better Alphaville - Didn't live up to the hype, but some interesting ideas Battle Royale - Silly but fun No Blade of Grass - Very low budget, but not bad Serenity - Disappointing compared to the series THX 1138 - Great ideas weirdly put together District 13 - Pretty good Silent Running - Low budget but pretty good neverthless Children of Men - Brilliant, one of the best films I've seen in the last decade Quatermass and the Pit - Awesome, but a slightly disappointing ending |

Really. As I said at the top - just a list of films I thought were worth seeing. As with most comedies it depends a lot on your SOH. You didn't get a chuckle from "Sod this intelligent life crap, just give me something I can blow up", or "Congratulations, you've decided to clean the elevator" ?

I really enjoyed watching Baywatch with a group of friends this past year. Granted it was a guys night that we went to see it in the theater and have a few drinks after so it may not have been as good as it seemed then. |
