I also liked The Gods Must be Crazy, Mars Attacks, The Big Lebowski, Scarface, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Gangs of New York, off the top of my head.

Series:
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
James Bond
Batman (original was more camp, new series is more grit, like them both for their genre)
Matrix
Jackie Chan (action and LOL)

Movies:
Top Gun
Full Metal Jacket
Beaches
Willie Wonka Chocolate Factory (both)
Mission Impossible 1
Grease
Das Boot

Ok, I'll do what Ess did, and will pick the movies I've seen and liked from your suggestions as well as add maybe a few of my own.

The Gods Must Be Crazy- I thought this film was both informative and very humorous.

Oh Brother, Where art Thou?- Although I haven't watched the movie in a few years, I remember laughing so hard at certain parts.

Sister Act- One of those great 90's movies.

Also,

The Last King of Scotland
The Sandlot
Syriana

Wow, glad to know you liked it as well. I myself enjoyed it a lot because I had done a little reading on the dictator of Uganda who I can't seem to quite remember his name.

I forgot to add another movie that I just can't believed I left out:
