Looks like I should get my rear in gear and bring some beer over here before it's next year.

Hang on a second...isn't Mir 17? Why's he in this bar?

At this point I'd like to point out that in England, you can legally order an alcoholic beverage with food from the age of 16...I assume Mir will somehow find a way to exploit this English common law in Canada... :P

And you say I have problems!
Well, english common law also says no one under 18 (or is it 21?) May hold a government posistion, so.....yeah.

Also, i agree with the Public Servic Anouncment, don't drink and drive either, because i have photo radars planted all over the information highway. :P

We are consuming almost as much as we're ordering, surely?

Actually, that's not common law :P

There is a difference between common law and statute law in England. Statute laws state people under the age of 21 may not stand for parliament, this may have been lowered to 18 (as it was for local councils). Comparatively, in the United States you have to 25 to be a Representative, 30 to be a Senator and 35 to be President.

In regards to common law and age, under common law, a person may drink beer at home from the age of 5. Likewise, English common law allowed a King of England to rule from 15 or something (I forget which King exactly).

Eh?

Where the bleep have you been drinking? Most pubs and restaurants will at least know what an Irish coffee is, even if they don't serve them.

Try a Glay Va coffee sometime, though. Nectar!

This sounds good...

Stir equal quantities of Glayva and Coffee Liqueur with double quantity of dry stout or Guiness [sic] and strain into an old fashioned glass. Float cream on top and enjoy this velvety luxury.

We played around with espresso/liquor type drinks last year and came up with one we called the Drunken Immigrant Bastard (this was our sixth "attempt" at a recipe):
Vanilla vodka
espresso
Guinness
and something else - Bailey's maybe?

The perfect drink for a first date, we figgured

There's a liquour you can buy all over the place where I live, which is called "Irish Coffee" it takes like chocolate/toffee mixed with alcohol.
