Does she like it, with crumpets? Eh, crumpets?

Braveheart's a good movie - one of the few I actually like Gibson in.

How much did she weigh, and was she situated near a nuclear facility?

I've caffeinated the children, taken a shower and set everything out for tomorrow, and bought the tickets to the 10:30 showing of Harry Potter!

Wish me luck!

Hey, I saw Harry Potter yesterday...

Here's my thoughts. Minor spoilers for those who haven't read the book.

The good:

-Very dark, creepy feel through much of the movie, particularly when Death Eaters or Dementors were around. The climactic scene at the Ministry was awesome and when Lucius and Bellatrix showed up, that increased the creepy factor to 15. The Ministry set was pretty badass too.

-Special effects were fantastic. Fred and George's "exit from Hogwart's" scene was chaos like in the book.

-Great chemistry between Ron, Harry and Hermione. The three actors really feel like they've been schoolmates and best friends for five years.

-Good use of humor to break the tension. Random silliness kept the movie from being too dark.

-Umbridge was done perfectly (even though she didn't look as described in the book, I can chalk up the "toad-woman" description as how Harry sees her and not how she really looked), and her office at the school was just unbelievable--there's no way I can describe it without ruining the experience (I don't remember how it was described in the book)

-Good use of screen time. Some repeated scenes in the book (such as Umbridge's punishments, Snape's Occlumency teachings) were pared down--it was good to repeat them in the books to show how rough it was for Harry but it would have made the movie drag to show all the related scenes. Also, the plot was tightened up and they removed much of what was not immediately relevant to the fifth story, even if it may prove important later.

The bad:

-Not enough McGonagall or Snape! Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman totally stole the scenes they were in, but weren't in enough of them. As I recall, they provided great foils for Umbridge in the book, but their roles were significantly reduced in the movie.

Overall: Awesome. Go see it.

One question, does the lady who plays Umbridge star in other movies? She looked really familiar in the commercials.

Kyle: IMDB.com is your friend. :D

Artist bio

Red - agreed on all your points. McGonagall was superb, and I was waiting for more of her involvement.

I love the opening scene!

I also loved the fact that going on the first day meant that everyone was there to watch the dang movie and not comment on it throughout the film. And the only person who had a cellphone go off was me. It was set on vibrate, though. I got up and left the theater and called home. Apparently my mom just wanted to make sure we were enjoying the movie.

 :D

She loves us.

I once, literally, bumped into Beau Bridges at a party during the Toronto Movie Festival. His people were all over me instantly but he realized it has a harmless, accidental jostle, called them off, tipped his glass to me and went on his way.

John Cusack.

Pamela or Louie Anderson?

So I'm sitting in a coffee shop and a guy is reading the latest HP. He's about halfway through. People notice and start talking about it - the rumors, the possibilities, etc. I turn around and say very loudly, "Snape kills everybody in the end!"

The guy who was reading looked like he just swallowed a ping pong ball, and the rest of the room went silent.

I turned back around and continued what I was doing.

Oh da ebil. Da bewy bad ebil.

(i have no clue if that is even a possiblity - god i hope it's not  )

When I walk out of the theater, and if I am in a very ebil mood, I will just throw out some unrelated bizarro ending or plot twist like, "Oh, the part where that woman dies is just so sad." Or, "I really liked the surprise ending hidden at the end of the credits. That was very clever!"
