I saw Canadian Bacon years and years ago. I was mostly unimpressed--what should have been a scathing satire ended up being a mostly dull movie. Maybe "Let's declare war on Canada!" wasn't funny enough a premise to begin with.

So I guess that makes it a 6-pack movie?

I saw that movie about a year ago, wasn't impressed either. On the other hand, I might see Sicko, even though I haven't heard that much buzz about it.

On a side note, I've watched this movie so many times but can't remember the title. Its a movie about a lady who is new to some job and gets inolved into a clique of girls. When preparing coffee for their boss, one of her friends accidentally puts rat poisoning in it. Then, she gives the boss his coffee and leaves. The boss falls out the window after having a heart attack or a malfunction with his chair. This lady thinks the rat poisoning killed him, when he didn't even take a sip of the coffee. So, these ladies steel a body from the hospital thinking its his to dispose of it or something along those lines. Turns out it isn't his and he finds out about the rat poisoning. Then they fear he's going to tell the authorities that they tried to kill him so they tie him up at his house etc.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Was that "Nine to Five" with Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman?

Yep thats it. I couldn't remember if it was 8 to 4, 9to 4, 8 to 5, whatever. Anyway, I thought the movie was funny and odd at the same time.

I saw Transformers today with my son. He called the best movie he's ever seen. I won't go that far but it was good, mindless entertainment. It was funnier than I expected.

I want to go see that, but it's too violent for my kids right now.

Another one for the Go Alone and Sneak In Snacks list.

I saw Knocked Up (really not for young people) and Evan Almighty (Excellent for Everyone) I loved both. They were funny and had a good storyline.

The making of it is so ridiculous, and the plot as well and the overdubs more so, it makes me laugh every time I see it!

I was going to take both my kids to see Ratatouille but my daughter didn't want to go. The Dolby surround sound ad scared the crap out of her when we saw Charlotte's Web and she hasn't wanted to go to the theatre since.

I saw Grbavica, aka "Esme's secret" a while back. You're unlikely to find it in a mainstream theatre, but might catch an art house showing somewhere.

Basically a "slice of life" film, set in Sarajevo after the war. Low budget, but far from low quality. Recommended.

Poor thing! (you and/or your daughter)

Well, it is a Pixar movie, so it'll be on DVD soon.

My kids came home wanting to cook, so we microwaved some brown rice with fresh herbs from our garden and some parmesan. Yep, foodies we all.
