Heh - I thought the part in Bowling For Columbine with the Michigan Militia was interesting.

Though it was only that way due to the fact that I live in Michigan. :P

I don't really see anything wrong with giving a gun with a bank account. I *do* see something wrong with not requiring training and licensing of such weapons.

1. Favorite movie featuring animals
Planet of the Apes (1968) - Protest all you want, that's my answer and I'm sticking to it.

2. Three worst movies of all time
Last House on the Left (1972) - Amateurish, repulsive, and worth seeing only for being Wes Craven's first film.
Superman III (1983) - Richard Pryor gets more screen time than the Man of Steel. Saving grace: Christopher Reeve's evil version of Superman.
Quintet (1979) - Robert Altman directing Paul Newman in Montreal. How bad can it be? See this and find out.

3. Three best Horror movies of all time
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) - One of the best horror comedies, with the added bonus of Lugosi as Dracula.
The Haunting (1963) - Scariest moment - the door scene.
Re-Animator (1985) - The uncut version is much better than the R-rated one, with some outrageous over the top moments. Great performance by Jeffrey Combs.
Honorable mention: Craven's original Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), which introduced Johnny Depp to the world.

4. Favorite movie snack?
Popcorn.

5. Imax or home movie theater?
Neither, options here are 13" TV and a DVD player, or the DVD/ROM and the 17" computer screen.

Roddy McDowall... mrowf!

I once spent an entire day watching all five Ape movies in a row, with lunch and snacks thrown in there somewhere. Ahhh... summer movie specials!

I had a James Bond marathon once, right before Casino Royale came out. We didn't watch all of them, but I think we got through 12-15 before we all went psychotic... :wall:

That was fun. :fonz:

1. Favorite movie featuring animals: Difficult - either Black Beauty, Equilibrium, Finding Nemo.

2. Three worst movies of all time: Kingdom of Heaven; Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (whiny little so and so...); Scream (I spent the duration laughing and being used as a human shield);

3. Three best Horror movies of all time: Jaws (the book is better though); Event Horizon; The Rocky Horror Picture Show;

4. Favorite movie snack? None. I go to the cinema on exceptionally rare occasions, and cannot stand people rustling packets of stuff in the speech or plot as they only want to see the explosions.

If this happens during the next Batman film, blood will be spilt. I may have to go to the preview/premier.

5. Imax or home movie theater? Home theatre.

Believe it or not, I would have gone to something like that (or maybe about 5 of them) for the Bond movies, but not LOTR. Something about the length, I think.

I did once spend an entire day with my sick children, watching LOTR DVDs one after the other, PLUS the commentaries, PLUS all the special features.

I saw LOTR-FOTR on one of those ginormous old screens just before the theater closed down. There was a rip in the screen, and we got an impromtu intermission when the reel broke. Ahhh... except for the one asshole-with-the-cellphone's guest appearance, it was just like old times!

And Carb - Phantom was why I didn't see the final episodes for a loooong time. I wasn't shelling out first run ticket money on something my friends big screen was going to give me for free.

Which version of Black Beauty?

On my birthday last year, I had a bunch of my friends sleep over my house, and we were going to watch all 6 Star Wars movies over the course of the night.

Well, we got through The Phantom Menace, and Attack Of The Clones (or, most of it), and me and my buddy Ricci realized everyone else was asleep. So, me and him finished Attack Of The Clones, and then we watched Season 1 of the Clone Wars micro-series (I wanted to throw both seasons in for continuity), and then we fell asleep. So that plan fell through pretty quick.

It was. I found it a little childish, though. More violence would have been good. I mainly watch it for the Podrace scene. That one part made it all worth watching. That, and the Darth Maul fight. :fonz:

Yep - definitely had good scenes.

For me, the problem was the cartoonish characters and something about the Princess Amydala.

The visuals were also good, but not worth the big screen price - which at this point is $8.50, and sometimes $6 for me as a student.

I outright hated most of Attack of the Clones, except for a few really keen fight scenes - who doesn't like to see Yoda kick ass?

Wow. I just got back from seeing Live Free or Die Hard.

That is a lot of action. I liked that one better than the others. :duel:

I'm going to see it next weekend. By myself, I think.

Ratatouille is a great movie and the animation and visuals are AWESOME. If you like action movies, though, it's a bit tame. Kind of a Soccer Mom movie.

The Podrace scene: Here Anakin, a crash course in the force. Bleh... Qui Gon Jin, go and eat your Midochlorians... "you and your sorcerers ways" ... "the power to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the powers of the force..."
Science and The Force are not mutually exclusive in the Star Wars cosmology.
More violence would have made a bad film worse. There was no need. No need at all.

First: Amidala - sorry about the spelling. ;).
Attack of The Clones was good for two things: The huge Jedi fight scenes and Yoda versus Dooku (which was still kinda poor). And let us not lament Yoda versus Senator Palpatine. Nice expanded universe content, but irrelevant in the films.
Let's hope that episdoes VII, VIII and IX are better.

I had it right the first time, and it didn't look right.

Phantom made me want to find out what happened, and I felt a little miffed at the turns the story took.

I was so hoping that 4 years or so would be enough for Christensen to take some acting lessons.

Moore: Windbag.

Star Wars prequels: Phantom Menace was okay, Clones didn't totally suck. Those who say Ep I was too "kiddy" forgot that Luke was a whiny beyotch in A New Hope.

Batman Begins was rather good, hopefully the nest installment (if so?) will be as good :)

Just no cheesy endings please!

I like Mr Moore, but that's because I read a book by him and found it enjoyable, and a kid in my class was a dead ringer for him :P

  I heard Moore on Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me, an NPR game show a couple of Saturdays ago, and the reason he got into film makes as much sense as ^. It went something like this:

"Why did I start making films? I don't know.
I'd seen a lot of movies... *pause for laughs*
And it didn't seem that hard.

It was better than being unemployed."

(He had gotten fired from Mother Jones magazine on Labor Day)

Oooo... speaking of Canada and Moore. Anyone see this movie?
