Rain causes lag

I was just running through a map while it was raining, I was lagging super hard and right when I got outside of the map with rain it started to smooth out a bit, but was still laggy.
I believe the rain is making the server lag, I would suggest trying to disable the rain function for a bit and see if it makes a difference.

But rain was in for a long while, plus when the sever wiped with over 100 people on it was not lagging at all.
I don't care

Yea and the server has been having a problem with lag for a while aswell, I'm pretty sure its when theres multiple maps with rain on them, it causes lag. The lag slowly gets harder and harder because 1 map will get rain, then while its raining in that map another map gets rain and the lag starts to hit harder, then another map starts to rain and the lag gets worse etc.

Rain causing lag is mostly a personal problem based on your PC... I know that because rain used to cause me lag... but now that I've upgraded it doesn't really have an effect on me.

Sasuna has gone through great lengths to make sure the weather, and night/day system is causing as little stress on the server as possible when it comes to lag.

Its not my computer for sure, I was lagging harder in the rain then outside of it. I can run Diablo 3 on high settings I'm sure I can handle NFF.

I'm just suggesting, to take it out for a bit see if the lag stops.
If the lag continues then we can cross this off the list for possible causes of lag.
Not like its going to hurt anyone, plus it could resolve this lag problem.
Its worth a try.

Yeah, my PC used to be pretty horrid... could run D3 on like high textures, but had to turn physics off and shadows off, and would lag pretty bad with more than 2 people..

But I don't seem to have issues with weather anymore though... but I run things like BF4 on ultra now

Amegakure would not be the same without the Rain....
They call Sociopaths ruthless. I think it should be called efficient.

The lag you're experiencing is Client-side lag, not server lag.
Byond is very inefficient when it comes to graphics, you see.
Your computer may be very great with playing games on the high-settings, likely because you have a good graphics card. However, Dream Seeker says fuck you, and relies solely on your CPU.

Upgrading your graphics card, (or maybe even your ram) will do shit for you, because Byond doesn't work in ways we'd like it to.
Trying to learn a bit of Moonrunes... I've decided that 赤眼付 is now the official spelling for Akametsuki. Basically means "Red Eyes", though, it kinda also means "Expression of the eyes"

Pretty much what Rage said. Even though you can run D3 perfectly fine, doesn't always mean you can run other games just as smoothly, even though it looks like it could.

Remember when some one asked Argon about the Weather affects before he said something about the Weather icon/animation looks laggy, rather then actually being laggy. Or something along those lines. Gives more of an illusion of lag or some shit.

The weather does bump up the amount of CPU usage the game normally takes though. By how much, dunno would depend on what your computer has.

Wouldn't cause server lag though, as many people has stated already. Weather has been in the game for a long time now, I'm sure Argon and Sasuna have already tested at some point to see if it causes any noticeable lag.

I personally dont like the weather simply due to its looks, in all BYOND games. They seemed more visually annoying then pleasant. But thats just my personal preference.

Lag is very simply explained that we have too much stress on the server from too many people.
My question is do they take the server down or does it crash and nobody can put it back up?

Pretty sure it gets so bad that nobody but Sasuna can reboot it.

It's all client side guys....if you have a copy of the source you can see that for yourself. Byond uses up a ton of CPU resources. Only way around this is to force threading...upgrade your cpu, or ask Sasuna to make toggle weather available to everyone. * I know that verb exists because someone had it as an edit*
Though a toggle weather verb might be bad...weather makes stuff like targetting a shushin harder because it counts as an Object on your screen and prevents clicking...much like the dark effect does.

Spoiler: click to toggle
