That was a sudden change at the end of the year, Kiruzon. Xbox sells more yearly, and sells almost twice as much as the PS3 in the USA. In total xbox sold 32 million, wii sold 38 million, ps3 sold 20 million. Globally since last year Xbox sold a total of 63 million. PS3 60 million. Wii 90 million. The reason the PS3 sold more by 1 million this year is because of Japan. They barely purchased 1 million 360s since it was released. There's almost nothing that can be done about a country that supports its own so heavily. Funds are wasted in advertisements. But this is what the PS3 relies on. Undying support. No matter how flawed they are, how much they mess up, their blind supporters kept them going as a competition. A competition that fell behind to the entire world, excluding one country. |

Here another article to clear it up. As it says it's "shipped" consoles that does not mean it sells more. "...It’s important to note that these figures are shipped and not sold to consumers (though it‘s unlikely production is far in excess of perceived demand for either console). It’s also important to note that it’s unclear if these numbers were garnered straight from sources at Sony and Microsoft, or are part of IDC’s overall forecast." http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/10/report-ps3-surpasses-xbox-360s-worldwide-shipped-total Also like I said, I linked to an official document of Sony which document sells and such and you can see PS3 and PS2 are counted together. Never said that what the guy said it's true, I said it could be. None of this articles say that this information is 100% true lol. Edited by Zigo, Feb 24 2013, 01:42 AM.

I forgot to post my source. http://www.vgchartz.com/yearly/2011/Global/ You can also see how the Xbox sold 100 million more games globally than the PS3. This sort of goes to the whole "Poor people buy PS3" because xbox uses batteries, purchased online service and ect. But it's worth the quality. If you're counting "cameras", then it's not consoles solely. Which would make it inaccurate. |

I don't get how this proves that PS3 didn't sell more. PS3 DOES sell more so their marketing isn't bad. You literally even just said they sell more. |

They don't sell more, Kiruzon. I said they didn't, only in Japan is it the only place in the entire world does it sell more. Didn't you read? Also, I looked into this a bit more. Zigo is right. It's "shipped." These are not sales to customers. Mine are. Sony shipped and manufactured more because of how many times they needed a new console to keep up with new sales, which is because they are so bad at marketing. Like changing the color to my amazing crystal version. |

You're talking about the PDF document I linked? If not no. You can find the game sells on hardware and they count PS3/PS2 together on it. Either way IGN's article says a lot more. This was according to the "Worldwide Video Game Entertainment Console Hardware and Packaged Software 2012-2016 Forecast." and it's not known if the numbers provided there were taken accurately from Microsoft's and Sony's or if they were just part of the forecast. |

It's even said that PS3 sold more because they sold in Japan to. The PS3 also came out a year later so they would probably been had more if they came out earlier. Edited by Kiruzon, Feb 24 2013, 01:47 AM.

An argument originally about Alienware just became about PS3/360 sales. @Kiruzon: The PS3 was released a year later. But think about it this way. There are 2 HD consoles released. One sells for $400 or so. The other sells for $600. What do you think is going to sell more? |

This year. Not in total. Xbox sold more almost every year and in total. You're thinking of this year and shipped. If that's a win to you, then I don't even know. |

"In December 2012, PS3 system shipments eclipsed the number of Xbox 360's shipped worldwide, despite the PS3 launching a year later than the Xbox 360 (an estimated 77 million bundles versus approximately 76 million bundles shipped)" This is what they're basing those articles from. This was taken from the IDC Document "Worldwide Video Game and Entertainment Console Hardware and Packaged Software 2012–2016 Forecast" The keyword here is shipped That does not mean the PS3 sold more than the Xbox 360 it means they shipped more bundles lol. There are still no official numbers stating that the PS3 has surpassed the Xbox 360 on sells. |

The PS3 shipped more then the Xbox so I assume by shipped it means people ordered those and are planning on receiving them soon. Gamespot says they overtook them in shipments in total. The Article in Gamespot specifically said: The PlayStation 3 is now the reigning king of the high-definition console market, if one report proves to be accurate. The International Data Corporation this week published a study that states worldwide PS3 shipments (77 million) surpassed global Xbox 360 shipments (76 million) in December 2012. Notably, the PS3 launched a year after the Xbox 360. This topic isn't even about that........... Edited by Kiruzon, Feb 24 2013, 01:56 AM.

Then you shouldn't assume. Shipments never equal to the total sales. You don't sell less by 3 million or more every single year and then jump ahead on the last year as a win. Sony did make a lot more limited editions and bundles this year that are special. But they didn't sell exponentially high. That's all it is, Kiruzon. More were shipped, not sold. I was the only person in a populated city to even pre-order my PS3, and I did it the day before. |
