Difference between Biting and being Inspired

Could someone explain to me and discuss the difference between biting and being inspired, me as an artist biting other people style and being compared to happens often and everyone has to start somewhere.

When someone starts with a art style of any form, something inspires them to get started so they start off by basing there form on whatever they were inspired by and build upon that.

But wouldn't that be biting if there style is evident in your work?

This is toward any art style: Fighting, Dancing, Rapping, Singing, Drawing etc.

...biting is directly copying somebody's style without making changes. Being inspired means that your art or whatever was influenced in some manner or aspect that you can notice where said influences are at, but they're unique enough so that they're not just a carbon copy.

So lets just say you displayed your art work, and a known famous artists work is evident in your work. Although your style isn't exactly there's its still similar. Would that be considered biting? Or just being inspired?

Give an example of who you are trying to rip off.

Give an example of who you are trying to rip off.
Think of the WillofJ's fiasco you started about his clay dragon, how you said he traced it.

I dont want to mention a specific art style, I'm just trying to keep it in general.

He did, though. I even proved it~~. As long as this doesn't involve payment or personal gain, I don't see much wrong with it. Using references, remixing songs (Not sure about that?) and ect.

In the hip-hop dance community, biting is a big thing along with styles etc. Due to its history and everything.

Even if you could see a tad bit of another persons style in your artwork as long as its not 100% theirs you should be fine and as long as you add your own style in there and grow from it you should be good.

My drawing style is a mix between DBZ, Inuyasha, and Naruto cuz those were the animes I was mostly influenced by for art.

Well, biting in the hip hop realm would mean copying someone elses lyrics or flowing style without giving them credit.
