To be or not to be...; A small view into the land of syntax in nff

In your evidence, it is evident that your friend used the word in a derogatory sense. He could have used other insulting words like "idiot" or even "weakling", but he instead chose the worse "n*****", a word that has always had an official racial history around it.

You even said it yourself; some people are STILL offended. If a word is that offensive, then it should not be used at all. It has only been 40-50 years since segregation ended, and there are people that still live today that remember those hate crimes, insults, and derogatory life styles that they had to endure. The word n***** is better forgotten then used again.

About Yama banning him: Racism, as evident in this topic, is different in the eyes of each person. What Yama sees as racism might not be so in another GM's eyes. To be honest, I would've done the same thing.

P.S. I wonder if anyone here would be brave enough to call someone a n***** to a complete black stranger.

What the fuck is hyk talking about "Nigs can't fight"

has he ever heard of yagito?

But yeah, it's not anything big, I hear tons of racist comments on NFF.

I wouldn't mind him being unbanned.

I banned/muted people when I was a Trial GM for racism, so no, I don't think Yama was in the wrong.

Racism is always subjective to someone's personal opinion.

Way I see it, it's not racist. Probably ignorant, but not racist. I don't think it's racist, till he starts (verbally, most likely) attacking someone for their race. In which case, a ban would be in order. Hyk was just being a little kid who doesn't know proper vocabulary.
Trying to learn a bit of Moonrunes... I've decided that 赤眼付 is now the official spelling for Akametsuki. Basically means "Red Eyes", though, it kinda also means "Expression of the eyes"

Its only racist because that what people deemed it, I know back then it was intended to be degrading but saying the word N should not be considered racist anymore, it should still be considered inappropriate to say like saying Fuck you or Bitch but does words are not racist and you dont go saying that to everyone...

By saying N. is a racist word would give that word power and make it racist and thus promoting more racism because you cant say a certain word...

Calling a White guy a Cracker is also racist but somehow it doesn't hold as much power as the word N. same goes with all other racist slang you should not give it power, Heck if your banning for that word you should also ban for racist jokes as well now...

Look at Nas he had a Album that was going to be called N. but since it was going to be censored he just had his album go untitled and had this picture at the cover...

Posted Image

And no that N does not stand for Nas...

Are you guys going to let the media tell you what is right or wrong to say or are you going to be your own man and deem what right or wrong to say...

again I did not censor my words because I know in my mind what is right and wrong to say and Im not going to be controlled...

Halo 4 Screen shots.

You realize he was going to name it not just N right? It was going to be spelled out. He wasn't allowed to. N-er is racist bro. If someone was going around saying these wetbacks blah blah blah, it's racist.

I hate pissy GMs like Yama.
It's just a word, get over it.

There are no 40 year olds playing NFF.

If I were called a derogatory term on the internet I wouldn't give two shits.
If I were called a derogatory term in real life I would be slightly affected.

I don't know how many times a day I get called n-er. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Here's my thoughts on words like n-er and f-g:

The word will hold it's original meaning as long as we let it.

A clearer example.

I walk up to a woman and say "Lemme see dat fat ass."

What? Offensive right? Wrong. I'm talking about her donkey, and you could figure that out if you got your head out of your ass (or the 40-60s, your choice).
