Thanks, Reppa. Based on a cursory read and what I remember, it seems like it's just a bit-piecing of various lines that make up the show's psalm. There's still some other issues with... other aspects (not historical ones), but that is neither here nor there. Again, thanks for the expedient find.

Seriously, though, why the hell did he have the dress with him in the first place? No argument will convince me there was a reasonable explanation for taking it with.
Its not reasonable, per se, but in as far as I was willing to think about it, I just figured he's just hung up on his sister that much that he takes her dress with him when he leaves for a long trip. >.> Its not like anything in the show makes real sense, anyhow.

He sure changed from what he was in Rose of Versailles.

Le Chevalier D'Eon Script Generator (version 1):

- We need to meet with King/Queen <European name ending with "Faffington"> the <roll a 20-sided die, reroll on 1> to stop the reading of the Royal <random book in the Bible>.
- Bitch about Lia not being around.
- Cross dress for no real reason.
- Bad guys are trying to <something against France>.
- Deploy Swiss-army Psalm to almost kill <noun>.
- Butcher actual history.
- Get Lia to solve problem.
- LIA SMASH!
- Roll credits.
In the name of Harman...

D'Eon Script Generator (ver. 2 a.k.a. when stuff actually happens)

-"Oh no! <character name> did/didn't betray France!"
-Pointless duel involving knights/knighthood/knighting
-One person dies; Robin cries
-Poets stare each other down while talking about <popular conversational topic>
-Poets recite many religious verses as fast as they can with trippy effects
-One person falls spasming and covered in words; Lia freaks out
-Fuzzy flashback reveals slightly more than previous flashbacks to same scene
-Royal <random book in bible> changes hands round-robin style
-End on cliche twist
Val-We're going to have a press conference
Guido-Sounds great, Val. I can press 20 tons. How about you, Lorna?
Lorna-I can press pants, or press an attack, or press a point...

That was an absolutely brilliant ending, I think. The strong momentum of the last 6-8 episodes really makes this one hard to grade. Even when the show was plodding along in nothingness, there were still moments where things were very interesting. Had the second half not been as good as it was, I wouldn't have liked this show much.

I'll admit that they very end of the last episode was pretty good, but it may have come out of left field for those who didn't find D'Eon's wiki article. As a whole, the episode was rushed. If they had less plodding about and started the final run a few episodes sooner, it would have been better. There were too many reveals in succession to keep track of or react too. Who killed who, and who is who's brother, and who switched who, and now there's a guy who was dead but is now a gargoyle. And don't get me started on the whole "Psalms do anything" aspect. Especially when it was used to bring Robespierre back to life gargoyle-free, and no one thought to use that on anyone else.

Also, did anyone else predict Anna's death when old D'Eon's monologue from the series' beginning said "She was dedicated to me until the end of her life?"

Amuzingly the Le Chavalier D'Eon DVD banner ad is on the bottom while I type this. Anyway, I knew it was a show that I whould like, just like Speed Grapher. But, just like Speed Grapher, it really did utterly unexpected and unusual, sometimes questionable, things. Overall, still very good. But just odd-er for it, I guess.
