Could this be Rose of Versailles part 2?!
obviously you have not seen this show yet if you are truely wondering this...lol

over all this is a pretty good anime, and i think many will like it.

only thing I really have against the show is the use of "Psalms"... Makes parts of the show kinda chessy( for lack of a better word):
Spoiler: click to toggle
In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law.....? Is it like the hand of God hovering above?

At least, it is true that man has no control, even over his own will.

Obviously it wouldn't be. Not cheesy enough, seemingly.

we'll have to wait and see if there are any shiny faces or runaway horses that can't turn/stop. which reminds me to finish the rest of Rose of Versailles among the other rabillion shows that need to be watched.

Zombies are realistic...but these ones are not....I dont recall seeing any brain eating...everyone knows that zombies in real life love to feast on brains, it is what they live fo ....un-live for.

The one thing that bugged me was the use of the term "gargoyle." When I first saw them, they seemed more like golems. Traditionally, gargoyles repelled evil spirits and golems were brought to life by inscribing the word of god into their forehead. There is even a psalm that mentions the word golem (Thank you Wikipedia). Then again, golems were entirely artificial rather than being made of flesh, bone, and mercury so I guess they could call them whatever they wanted.

Guido-Sounds great, Val. I can press 20 tons. How about you, Lorna?
Lorna-I can press pants, or press an attack, or press a point...

The creature name could also be just a matter of translation. They may not be zombies in the George Romero sense of the word, but they are reanimated dead (or controlled bodies) so they do meet the classic definition of zombies.

That and (after seeing the second episode finally) it just sounds better. I mean think about it: Gargoyle Hooker? Nah. Golem Hooker? A little better. Zombie Hooker? Hilarious!

For a split second I was really expecting the Zombie Prostitute Brigade to break out in the Thriller dance.

And my opinion of Parisian men of the 18th century has really lowered considerably now that I know they turn to zombies...ick.

Is it just me or are we going to keep seeing d'Eon be pressured into doing things "because Lia would had done it?"

I can just see the later episodes now... "Hey, d'Eon! Gimmie 20 Francs. No? Oh... well... Lia would had done it. Hey guys, remember that time Lia gave me 20 Francs that one time? Man, Lia was so cool."

Also, I don't think a magical Psalm of Vengeance fixes foot ligaments. How the hell is that guy still moving??

And, of course, with all the talk of Russia I started thinking about Hetalia....

Yes, exactly. Thats the whole show -
"What should I do?"
"LIA WHOULD KILL PEOPLE. YOU SHOULD KILL PEOPLE"
"eh...I don't know."
"LIA WHOULD DO IT. COME ON."
"But...I don't want to....cause I'm a puss."

Then he's possessed and plot pretends to advance.
