Hello everyone. I was kindly invited to this event which obviously is visited by a lot of very important people in CN. My goal here is to learn from them and get to know them a little better. My own history of CN: I moved to CN in late 2006 when my "old home" in Nationstates slowly began to die. Despite my best efforts I couldn't stop it. I was made aware of CN and since it was clearly the superior game, I moved here. Without any knowledge of the game or the alliances, I joined that alliance that seemed best among those that sent me recruitment letters. This alliance was GATO. I stayed there for some time and tried to establish myself as a minor player in the lowest military division. By the outbreak of GW2 I fought alongside other minor GATO-members in the strength range lower 1000. The surrender surprised all of us "new guys". Frustrated by the government that wouldn't accept responsibility and dismiss itself, I left and joined IRON. I tried to connect there, but felt isolated and couldn't integrate. By that time, several of my old NationStates-friends had joined CN in various alliances. I called them together and founded "The Foreign Division" in February 2007. I made it a safe haven for all who needed a 2nd chance and I made it democratic. I wanted to re-create the very good community feeling we had in Nationstates and I think that we all in TFD succeeded. We began with a strict neutral course with me as President. Then the ITAO-war hit us in summer 2007. Without NATO we would have been wiped out, never really being noticed. NATO rescued us and we signed our first MDP, moving away from neutrality to semi-neutrality. Since then we've opened up ourselves towards more alliances and signed MDP's and MDoAP's with Nueva Vida, NATO (Upgrade) and NpO. I myself had several positions within TFD during my time as President. When we had no people and no staff, I also was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Security and Immigration. By November 2007 I resigned as President and transformed the alliance to a parliamentarian democracy with a Speaker elected by the Senate as a president-replacement. I did this because nobody would ever run against me as President and I didn't want to become some kind of "King-President". I was a normal Senator then and Circlewood took over as Speaker. After four additional months as Senator, I resigned and didn't run again. I felt that new people from the latest and most active group should move up and that the old guys should move aside. I hoped to become "Senate Advisor" and develop my own projects for the alliance aside from day-to-day-tasks. I was recalled into active service very soon and made "Minister of Security". I've hold the position for more than three months now and re-organized the whole ministry. My plans for the future: I still have that idea about becoming "Senate Advisor" and develop my own projects...maybe some day...

You stated TFD wanted to be a neutral alliance at first. What kind of resistance was there to the NATO MDP? |

@Dilber: Europa. A neutral alliance. I don't think it got much attention. @Duncan King: Well, when the MDP was on the table - no resistance at all. But before the ITAO-war, we weren't very comfortable with defense treaties. We just wanted to be for ourselves and watch the politics from the sidelines. This strategy didn't work and the ITAO-war was a very bitter lesson to learn. Without you guys we would have been destroyed. We'll be forever thankful for that and if you get attacked one day, we'll be there to help you. |

I defended Europa a couple times I believe. In NS, I was Deputy Director of the ADN, and Prime Minister of the West Pacific before going over to the dark side

I remember the ADN and Europa. All I did/do (still there) in NS is hang out in the "Caribbean" and talk about rum. |
