NATO IRC
First time using IRC?
Step One: Enter the nickname you want to use. It can
contain letters and numbers but no spaces. If you want a space,
use an underscore (_) I recommend using your NATO Forum name
followed by [NATO] in brackets. For example: Yourname[NATO]
. Press "Connect." You are now chatting in NATO's
Public IRC Channel.
Step Two: If
this is your first time using IRC, you need to register your nickname.
To do this, type /msg nickserv
register yourpassword youremail . Choose a password you want and
an email address you can receive email from. Comcast won't work. Follow
the instructions. This registers your nick so only you can use
it. When you are successful, you will get a message from IRC
saying that you have succeeded in registering your nickname.
Step Three: Type /nick yournick
and press enter. Then type /msg nickserv identify
yourpassword. This logs you in as the nick you registered
through your email.
The next time you log into IRC using this method, set your nickname to
the one that you registered and click "Connect." Once you're in,
type /msg
nickserv identify PASSWORD . This logs you in with your
registered nick.
NATO has a private IRC Channel as well. If you are in NATO,
please read this
thread for details.
